To come through those games without their two star players, the rest of the squad will feel a million dollars, and you've rested your two best players." "I just thought because he's played Salah in every game, the game that he leaves Salah out in, I thought would be a risk because it tells the rest of the players something. "We had it in the Champions League final, where we had two subs come off the bench and win it for us. "It's the first time Jurgen Klopp's left Mo Salah out in what feels like an absolute age, but he must have felt that was a game that he could leave him out in. And so to keep them included to make them feel part of it, get them on the pitch if you can, even it's for 10 or 15 minutes at the end. Liverpool did very well to come back in and then there were hugs at the end and it's a very pleasant, respectful run-in.

Leeds United fans shock Trevor Sinclair with noise v Manchester City (MOT Leeds News)

Leeds United were unfortunately humbled by Premier League leaders Manchester City yesterday as Pep Guardiola's side ran out 4-0 winners.

The players obviously don’t fully understand it yet but the more they try and practice, the better they will get and eventually it will click and teams like City will have a very tough time at Elland Road. You only have to glance at the gulf between the two sides in the table to see that the Whites aren’t really at the Citizens’ level but they would have expected a bit more fight. Trevor Sinclair attended the game yesterday and he could not believe the noise created by the passionate Leeds United fans despite the disappointing result for Jesse Marsch’s side.

Five Things We Learned: Leeds United 0-4 Manchester City ... (Sports Illustrated)

Manchester City returned to the top of the Premier League with a crucial 4-0 victory against Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday evening.

Whilst there was a stark contrast in the quality possessed by the two sides at Elland Road, City took their chances and were efficient from set-pieces, and with De Bruyne and Mahrez set to come back into the side against Madrid on Wednesday, City could benefit from a different goalscoring avenue. Whether it will see City decide against sanctioning a sale for Jesus and instead offer him a new contract or not, Jesus is hitting form at just the right time to finish the season on a high to get his desired move in the summer and stake a serious claim for the Brazil National Team for the World Cup in Qatar. Pep Guardiola's men made it four wins on the trot with a convincing win against tough opposition as goals from Rodri, Nathan Ake, Gabriel Jesus and Fernandinho took the Premier League champions back to the top of the pile after Liverpool secured a narrow win away at Newcastle on Saturday afternoon.

Goals, goals, goals: City's free-scoring weekend in review (Manchester City FC)

Four games, four wins, 31 goals and two trophy lifts: it has been a truly incredible weekend of football for Manchester City.

“It was my day and I just have to keep going. Following the game, City’s four-goal heroine reflected: “To get four is an unbelievable feeling. It meant City moved back above Liverpool to the Premier League summit with just four games remaining and have now kept five successive clean sheets on the road in the English top flight, our best run in the competition to date. Gabriel Jesus added a third with his sixth goal in the space of a week, before Fernandinho marked his 260th Premier League appearance – a new record for a Brazilian – with a thunderous late strike. He said: “It was a great way for the lads to celebrate, it was nice to win it and get the trophy on home soil rather than being away, so it's been a great day for us. City had already sealed successive PL2 titles following a 3-1 win at Leeds in our penultimate match of the season but rounded off the campaign with an emphatic display.
