There have been three such picks in first 15 picks of the fourth round. 1:25 p.m.: There’s our first in-state player of the day: Michigan running back Hassan Haskins goes No. 131 overall (late fourth round) to the Tennessee Titans. Haskins was a reliable, productive back at Michigan, especially after contact. 1:10 p.m.: We have our first specialist of the 2022 NFL draft. It is the Lions’ first pick of the day. 3:42 p.m.: The Lions traded the 181st overall pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for the 188th and 237th picks. 1:41 p.m.: We’ve got a run of smaller-school selections, the latest being one of the best-named players in the draft: Bailey Zappe, a quarterback from Western Kentucky, goes No. 137 overall to the New England Patriots. He was preceded by selections from North Dakota State, Fayetteville State, and UTSA. Zappe is the fifth quarterback taken in this draft. 3:23 p.m.: The Bears selected Dominique Robinson, a linebacker from Miami Ohio, with the 174th overall pick. 3:19 p.m.: Samuel Womack, a Detroit native, went 172nd overall to the San Francisco 49ers. “He’s a former safety who is on the smaller side for a linebacker prospect, and his lack of length shows up when he’s forced to take on blockers in a phone booth. 5:20 p.m.: The Lions drafted another linebacker, Jackson State’s James Houston IV, with the 217th pick. The Lions, as of now, have one more pick left: the 237th selection, thanks to an earlier trade with Philadelphia.

Chris Burke’s analysis: The Lions got solid value at a position of need — Mitchell might have been a Round 3 or 4 guy were it not for the ACL injury he suffered early in 2021. Dane Brugler’s analysis: Williams is rehabbing a torn ACL, but if healthy, he has the field-stretching speed and ball instincts to be a big-play weapon. the run with the point-of-attack instincts and football character that will be welcomed in an NFL building. He projects as a special-teamer and developmental NFL starter ideally suited for a Cover-3 scheme. How he fits: Joseph is a rangy safety with the wingspan of an NBA small forward. With Malik Willis and Desmond Ridder on the board, the Lions went with Paschal. An interesting pick to say the least, after the Lions drafted Aidan Hutchinson at No. 2. And in line with Aaron Glenn’s wishes to find edge players who can create carnage for his linebackers to flow and make plays. Detroit trades 32, 34 and and 66 to Minnesota for No. 12 and No. 46. A year ago, the Lions set their offensive foundation in the feet of offensive tackle Penei Sewell. Sewell will be a future presence for the franchise for a decade-plus. Hutchinson will empty his tank every single day for the city of Detroit and the franchise. Detroit then made a blockbuster trade, sending its picks at 32, 34 and 66 to the Vikings for Nos. 12 and 46. Shortly thereafter, he traded No. 181 to the Eagles for picks 188 and 237.
