The Ravens dealt wide receiver Marquise 'Hollywood' Brown to the Arizona Cardinals for pick No. 23 in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Brown was the Ravens' leading wide receiver last season, hauling in 91 passes for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns. However, the trade market for wide receiver has exploded this offseason and the Ravens had a chance to recoup the first-round pick they used on Brown (No. 25 in 2019) before he got too expensive to keep. Brown posted 195 catches for 2,361 yards and 21 touchdowns in his three seasons in Baltimore.
The Baltimore Ravens have traded wide receiver Marquise Brown to the Arizona Cardinals for the 23rd overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft.
Last season, Brown became the first Baltimore wide receiver to surpass 1,000 yards receiving since Mike Wallace did so five years ago. Brown, 24, was productive but inconsistent in his three seasons with the Ravens. He totaled 195 receptions for 2,361 yards and 21 touchdown catches. The move reunites Brown and Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, who played together at Oklahoma in 2017 and 2018.
The Cardinals have another weapon for Kyler Murray, and the quarterback is going to like it. Arizona reunited Murray with Marquise “Hollywood” Brown.
He will join DeAndre Hopkins, A.J. Green and Rondale Moore atop the depth chart. Brown was Eric DeCosta’s first draft choice as General Manager, making the receiver a first-round pick in 2019. The Cardinals got Brown and a third-round choice (100th overall) for the 23rd overall choice.
The Ravens traded 24-year-old wideout Marquise Brown to the Cardinals during the 2022 NFL Draft.
Brown was in the fourth year of his rookie deal, and likely will command serious money when that deal expires. Brown, an Oklahoma product, crossed the 1,000-yard rubicon for the first time last season, also catching six touchdowns on 91 receptions. The Ravens traded the 24-year-old wideout to the Cardinals on Thursday night along with the 100th pick in the draft, getting back the 23rd pick in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, per multiple reports.
Instead, the Cardinals dealt their spot – No. 23 overall – to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for 2019 first-round receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, who ...
The Cardinals needed speed at wide receiver – "This guy, it's bombs over Baghdad, he can fly," Keim said – and it certainly makes Murray happy. But the money is only a small part of the equation. "(Brown) makes sense for a number of reasons," Keim said. "There are lots of playmakers," Kingsbury said. He also said he does not expect Brown's contract (or Brown's desire for an extension at some point) to be an issue. The Cardinals and Ravens kept the deal tightly under wraps.
In return, the Baltimore Ravens receive the No. 23 overall selection. This now leaves the Ravens primed for two first-round selections in the draft in back-to- ...

Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, who was shipped to Arizona along with the No. 100 overall pick, was the Ravens' leading wide receiver last season.
Wide receiver Marquise 'Hollywood' Brown requested a trade after the season ended and Baltimore worked out a pre-draft deal with the Arizona Cardinals.
I hope he's in the Pro Bowl," DeCosta said. "I hope the best for Hollywood, I really do. Brown was the Ravens' leading wide receiver last season, hauling in 91 passes and topping 1,000 yards for the first time. But Marquise came to me after the season and requested that he be traded. "It was something I anguished over for a long time. General Manager Eric DeCosta explained Thursday night that Brown requested a trade after the season ended.
Lamar Jackson had a succinct message when he found out Marquise "Hollywood" Brown was traded during the 2022 NFL Draft.
When we last heard from Jackson, he was professing his love for the Ravens despite the fact that he has not yet begun contract negotiations with the franchise. The Ravens were not done making moves; they moved back two spots in a swap with the Bills, and ultimately selected Iowa center Tyler Lindenbaum with the 25th overall pick. Brown, the top wide receiver on the Ravens last season (though tight end Mark Andrews had more receptions and yards), was traded to the Cardinals for the 23rd overall pick in Thursday night’s NFL Draft.
The Cardinals landed a standout wide receiver in the first round, but he won't be a rookie this season. Arizona sent their first-round pick (No.

The wide receiver is coming off a career year — he eclipsed the 1000 receiving yard mark with 91 catches — and has one season left on his rookie deal.

It is also a sign of very good faith towards Murray, who has gone through his fair share of drama from the Cardinals’ front office.

Jackson’s reaction to the team trading away Brown may not have any effect on contract talks in the long run, but it is certainly worth monitoring for now. Brown was drafted by General Manager Eric DeCosta with the No. 25 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft — his first-ever selection after taking over for Ozzie Newsome at the position. The two also developed a close relationship off the field.
The Cardinals entered the 2022 NFL Draft with the 23rd overall pick. They did not use it. Arizona sent the pick to the Ravens in exchange for receiver ...
Of course, that's not the only reason that the move was made. That will allow them to add an asset over which they will have cost control for five years. So, that's a positive for the front office and coaching staff. The two were very happy to hear the news that they had been reunited. First of all, Brown has a good relationship with Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray. The two were teammates at Oklahoma and Brown logged 75 catches for 1,318 yards and 10 touchdowns while playing with Murray. It was also a hefty price for the Cardinals to pay for Brown, who has logged just one 1,000-yard season during his career.
The Ravens admitted the Brown trade was agreed upon earlier in the week, explaining why he was at the Cardinals draft party when the trade was announced.
I hope he's in the Pro Bowl, but I also think that this guy (Linderbaum) that we drafted is also going to be in Pro Bowls, too. I hope for the best for 'Hollywood,' I really do. So, we do try to communicate with him as best as possible," DeCosta said. "We had a communication with him, actually, before the trade was made, to be honest, and explained the situation as best as we could. "Again, it was something that I anguished over for a long time. Marquise "Hollywood" Brown wanted out of Baltimore after three seasons with the team.

Brown will make a little more than $2.1 million in salary in 2022. The Arizona Cardinals acquired wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown from the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday in a trade.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson acted surprised that the Ravens traded receiver Hollywood Brown last night. Jackson shouldn't have been.
Although Brown said he loves Lamar, Brown said it all when he uttered the words, “The system just wasn’t for me.” On one hand, it’s useful to not do whatever everyone else does; it puts extra pressure on opposing defenses who don’t face that kind of system on a regular basis. And then they may have to trade them. “It was just . . . my happiness,” Brown said. They have to draft them. It was just something I had to think about for myself.”
The trade that sent receiver Marquis “Hollywood” Brown from the Ravens to the Cardinals came out of the blue. In Baltimore, it was a long time coming.
We’ll address that in a separate post. In Arizona, that surely will change — in a good way. In Baltimore, it was a long time coming.
Baltimore's first-round draft pick in 2019 says he loves his former Ravens teammates, but 'the system wasn't for me.'
I hope he's in the Pro Bowl, but I also think that this guy [Tyler Linderbaum] that we drafted is also going to be in Pro Bowls, too. "You know … I always say the club has to win, and this was a situation where it was going to be impossible for the club to truly win, but we do what we think is best for the player. "Marquise was my first pick, and one of my favorite guys on the team," DeCosta said. "I asked them for a trade after the season," Brown said. I love the guys. "Then after my third year, leading up to the end of the season, he wasn't playing.
Lamar Jackson appeared to be blindsided by Baltimore's trade of Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, but the wide receiver insists that was not the case.
“It was just . . . my happiness,” Brown said, as described by ProFootballTalk. “I talked to Lamar about it after my second year. “Lamar Jackson and Marquise Brown weren’t just teammates. He was the Ravens’ leading wideout; tight end Mark Andrews accumulated more receptions and yards. It was just something I had to think about for myself.” “True South Floridians though and through. Never seen a bond like they had on and off the field.
