76ers? And which side of the spread hits well over 60 percent of the time? The model also says one side of the spread hits in well over 60 percent of simulations. In Game 5, he scored 15 of his game-high 23 points in the second half and fell just three assists shy of a triple-double. While initiating the offense in the absence of VanVleet, he did not turn the ball over in the second half. While Thybulle is a troublesome defender for opponents, he doesn't move the needle significantly elsewhere, and has only scored 10 total points in the three games he has played otherwise. Philadelphia was one of the best road teams in the NBA overall this season, at 28-15. Raptors and just locked in its picks and NBA playoff predictions. Successful Raptors Season Comes to a Close With Loss to 76ers ... (CalBearsMaven)

The Toronto Raptors defied the odds all season but a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 6 ended an incredible year for the organization.

"I think we took a lot of steps, we got a lot better you can see that in the season. "We have to develop in a lot of areas, that’s definitely one of them," Siakam said of the team's three-point shooting. Knowing this team and our front office and the people that we have in the organization I know that the goal is to continue to get better and we’re going to look at all those areas and improve and be a way better team next year." Siakam took his sixth foul with just over two minutes to go and walked off the court to a standing ovation from the Raptors faithful. The organization values versatile, defense-first wings that can defend multiple positions, and believe wholeheartedly in their ability to develop shooters. In Game 6, he transformed the first half for the Raptors, coming off the bench and collecting offensive boards one after another. Back then, early in the season, he had no idea how to play his role. "It may take a few days or a couple of weeks and then but we've got to get ready to get back to work, right? ... I was pretty disappointed in that execution from us, but it goes in line with a lot of stuff tonight. He came out aggressive and ready to go in games four and five, and Game 6 was no different. Having clawed out of a 3-0 to become just the 14th team in NBA history to force a Game 6, Toronto was playing with house money and "nothing to lose," as Raptors coach Nick Nurse put it. Pascal Siakam got back to his All-NBA form, Gary Trent Jr. took a step forward, Chris Boucher played the best basketball of his career, and, of course, Barnes was a revelation.

'We weren't going back to Philly' -- Defiant 76ers blow out Toronto ... (ESPN)

The Sixers blitzed Toronto to start the second half of Thursday's Game 6, outscoring the Raptors 37-17 on their way to a series-clinching victory.

After Philadelphia held a 62-61 halftime lead, the 76ers came out to start the third quarter and almost instantly put to rest any thoughts of this series going back home for a do-or-die seventh game Saturday night. The hot pace offensively for both teams to start the game continued throughout the first half, with both teams executing what they wanted offensively and getting unexpected contributions from across the roster. But it wasn't enough to carry Toronto to the precipice of history. The Philadelphia 76ers -- thanks to a dominant third quarter that saw them outscore Toronto 37-17 and at one point score 17 straight points -- came away with a 132-97 victory Thursday night in Game 6 of their first-round series here at Scotiabank Arena. This time, they will hope to finally break through and reach the Eastern Conference finals for the first time since Allen Iverson led them there in 2001. And second-year guard Tyrese Maxey had a huge bounce-back game as well, finishing with 25 points and eight assists after scoring 23 points combined in Games 4 and 5. I knew good things would happen." They were really great. They were ready to play. But things didn't quite work out that way. "Listen, congratulations to them, first of all," Raptors coach Nick Nurse said. They were done with coaching.

NBA Playoffs Odds: 76ers-Raptors Game 6 prediction, odds and pick (ClutchPoints)

The Philadelphia 76ers will take on the Toronto Raptors in the sixth game of their first-round matchup on Thursday. It's time to continue our NBA odds ...

The Raptors lost in two road blowouts to begin this series, but things changed as soon as they played in Scotiabank Arena. Both games that took place in Toronto were single-digit games, and one of them was a Raptors victory. Even in game four, a contest that the Sixers lost, the Raptors were held to 42% shooting from the field, including a 23% shooting percentage from three-point range. After a heartbreaking overtime defeat, the Raptors took game four on their home court and proceeded to steal game five in Philadelphia. Now they return to their home turf for a huge game six with their season on the line. Toronto managed to hold Philadelphia to 88 points on 38% shooting from the field. The Raptors will likely be playing without one of their most important players in this game. The 76ers have been elite on that end of the floor all series long, as they haven’t allowed the Raptors to score more than 111 points in a game.

Philadelphia 76ers: Joel Embiid went T-Rex on the Toronto Raptors (Section 215)

Despite his finger injury, Joel Embiid pulled a Jurassic Park and went T-Rex on the Raptors in the Philadelphia 76ers' Game 6 win.

Whether Embiid has found a way to play through the pain or he has settled on a new brace that is more resilient to punishment, Philly’s favorite Cameronian son put up yet another 30-10 double-double and was able to secure the W from the bench instead of the court. Despite his inefficiency from 3, Embiid looked far more comfortable at both ends of the court and grimaced in pain as he clutched his hand. oh yeah, Jimmy “Buckets” Butler, a player that still holds a special place in the hearts of Sixers fans the world over for his run in 2018-19.

Heat vs. 76ers: Predictions, expert picks, schedule for 2nd Round in ... (Sporting News)

However, the Heat are dealing with two injuries of their own. It all starts with Embiid, who is clearly playing through pain after being diagnosed with a torn ligament in his right thumb. All-Star forward Jimmy Butler was back to his playoff ways in the first round, averaging 30.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 2.8 steals per game. Philadelphia's biggest question mark is which version of Harden they will receive, as the All-Star guard's production was lacking in the first round. Embiid, who is playing through a torn ligament in his right thumb, looked shaky after the first few games of the series but still averaged 26.2 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. Facing immense pressure to avoid a Game 7, the Sixers rolled in Game 6 with a huge third quarter to close out the Raptors.

76ers getting ready for Heat, and Rivers is wasting no time (Kansas City Star)

A few hours before Game 6 of his team's first-round series against Toronto got started, Philadelphia coach Doc Rivers was busy watching film.

Rivers said the only way to avoid the conversation would be to win Game 6, and his team listened. All the switching and all the different things they did, I thought it was really good for our team. “And now we’ve got to get ready for Round 2.” The 76ers will hit the practice court Saturday and Sunday, then fly to Miami for Game 1. The next challenge is now known for the 76ers, and Rivers wasted no time before beginning the process of getting ready. But they left no doubt Thursday night, using a 17-0 run in the third quarter to take total control.

Allen Iverson not concerned but frustrated with 76ers heading into ... (NBC Sports)

Philadelphia legend Allen Iverson still has his 76ers' backs, but he wants to see his team get back to the squad he saw the first two games against Toronto.

The things that made you successful in those games, they’re going to try and take those things away. The 76ers team that played harder and physically overwhelmed the smaller Raptors. But doing that means adjusting in a way Philly has not so far. “The coaching staff, the thing that they do is put you in position to succeed. “You always got to look in the mirror, and figure out what you could have did better, how you could have elevated your squad. “I think it’s very important for him to keep playing aggressive, like he has been, can’t be tentative out there,” Iverson said. The 76ers were sluggish and looked worn down in those two losses; then Joel Embiid’s torn ligament in his thumb adds to the concern and frustration.

If they don’t, opportunities could be limited for the Heat’s Dewayne Dedmon, as was the case with his two minutes of action in Tuesday’s clincher against the Hawks. Edge: Heat. Any attrition could sway the balance. But the reality is that the most recent sample size favors Spoelsrta, including the way this season’s first round played out. Max Strus, by contrast, mostly is a complementary component for the Heat. Expect a crossmatch here as well. Point guard: There was a point when Harden was a given when it came to winning his matchup. Bench: This could be the swing vote in the series. Power forward: A wildcard in the series could be the 76ers’ Harris, who has the tools to put together a breakout offensive performance but rarely does. Like Butler, figure on Kyle Lowry getting up to play against his hometown 76ers, just as he did during the Raptors run to their 2019 NBA championship. Shooting guard: Maxey has been a revelation over the second half of the season, arguably Philadelphia’s second best player. On the other side is the Heat’s P.J. Tucker, who has his own ability to dominate on the defensive end. Considering the possibilities of crossmatches and the utilization of zone by both teams, it remains to be seen how much the two match up. However, Embiid also is playing with a sprained right thumb that will require offseason surgery.
