The judge said he plans to finalize his recommendation “about a week later.” When asked during a hearing Friday if she had advocated for martial law to keep President Joe Biden from taking office, Greene said she could not recall. “I don’t recall. Please tell him to declassify as much as possible so we can go after Biden and anyone else!” she wrote. “In our private chat with only Members, several are saying the only way to save our Republic is for Trump to call for Marshall law. I just wanted you to tell him.

In newly released texts to an aide of then-President Donald Trump, Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene blamed Antifa for the Jan.

Please tell him to declassify as much as possible so we can go after Biden and anyone else!" "Absolutely no excuse and I fully denounce all of it, but after shut downs (sic) all year and a stolen election, people are saying that they have no other choice. "In our private chat with only Members, several are saying the only way to save our Republic is for Trump to call for Marshall (sic) law," Greene’s said. I just wanted you to tell him. "I don't know on those things. One text, sent from Greene to Meadows the day after the attack, in part argued that "Antifa was mixed in the crowed (sic) and instigated it, and sadly people followed."

Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn was one of the first to advocate for martial law. Last Friday, Green became the first member of Congress to publicly testify under oath about the events surrounding the Capitol attack. They stole this election.

Call for martial law raised in Greene texts (Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette)

Greene's appearance in an Atlanta courtroom was one of the first times a member of Congress has been questioned under oath about the attack. "Good morning Mark, I'm here in DC. We have to get organized for the 6th," Greene said in a Dec. 31, 2020, text message, according to CNN. "I would like to meet with Rudy Giuliani again. "In our private chat with only Members, several are saying the only way to save our Republic is for Trump to call for Marshall law," Greene texted Meadows, misspelling the word "martial." "They stole this election. She alluded to having met previously with Rudy Giuliani, who was Trump's personal attorney at the time. We didn't get to speak with him long. Please tell him to declassify as much as possible so we can go after Biden and anyone else!"

What's funny (and what's not) about Greene's 'Marshall law' text (MSNBC)

It was funny to see Marjorie Taylor Greene misspell "martial law" in a text to the Trump White House, but the message itself was deeply scary.

Rather, she sent in 11 days after Jan. 6, as Trump prepared to exit the office. The text messages, which were obtained by CNN, help illuminate how far the Trump White House and its allies secretly tried to go to overturn the 2020 election. At issue are 2,319 text messages Trump’s former right-hand man shared with the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack, many of which were posted to CNN’s website yesterday. “In our private chat with only Members, several are saying the only way to save our Republic is for Trump to call for Marshall law,” Greene wrote, apparently trying to refer to martial law. Nevertheless, it was of interest why the right-wing congresswoman was even asked such a question in the first place. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was in court on Friday, testifying in response to an effort to disqualify her from running for re-election.

What Else Does Marjorie Taylor Greene “Not Recall” About Jan. 6? (Slate Magazine)

Marjorie Taylor Greene “did not recall” advocating for martial law. But the proof is in her text messages.

When she was asked about a rumor that she and her staff had given tours to insurrectionists and provided them with maps of the Capitol in advance of Jan. 6, she flatly denied the charge. It’s possible we’ll soon find out that other things she swore under penalty of perjury she could “not recall” happening also happened. Notably, Greene didn’t say “I don’t recall” to every question. “I do not remember,” she repeatedly testified. She responded: “I don’t recall ever discussing that.” It’s worth considering the other areas where Greene’s memory failed in order to get a better insight into just how much further the coup attempt went than what we already know. It’s not just that Greene may have perjured herself in that testimony—a real possibility. The hearing was about whether Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene should be disqualified from office under the 14th Amendment for supporting the insurrectionists on Jan. 6. • Greene was asked if “anybody in government—representatives, senators, White House staff, the president of the United States at the time” mentioned to her the “risk that people coming to Washington for Jan. 6 demonstrations might become violent.” She responded: “I don’t recall.” I just wanted you to tell him. Please tell him to declassify as much as possible so we can go after Biden and anyone else! “Mark I was just told there is an active shooter on the first floor of the Capitol Please tell the President to calm people. During the proceedings, she was asked specifically whether she advocated for martial law before the inauguration. “Mark we don’t think these attackers are our people. The House voted in December to recommend that the Justice Department charge Mr. Meadows with criminal contempt of Congress for twice failing to appear for a deposition in defiance of the committee’s subpoena. Mrs. Greene is facing a legal challenge brought forward by Georgia activists who say she should be disqualified from running for reelection. “In our private chat with only Members, several are saying the only way to save our Republic is for Trump to call for Marshall (sic) law,” Mrs. Greene said. Please tell him to declassify as much as possible so we can go after Biden and anyone else!” I just wanted you to tell him. This isn’t the way to solve anything,” Mrs. Greene texted Mr. Meadows at 2:28 p.m. as the attack on the Capitol unfolded. The text is among 2,319 conversations Mr. Meadows turned over to the House panel that were recently leaked to CNN. In a text to Trump White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows on Jan. 17, 2020, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Georgia Republican, said lawmakers worried about the “stolen election” destroying the country and discussed the measure as a last resort to keep Mr. Trump in office. Several Republican lawmakers wanted President Donald Trump to declare martial law in the wake of the Jan. 6, 2020, attack on the Capitol ahead of President Biden’s inauguration, according to newly revealed text messages turned over to the House panel investigating the attack.
