Pelicans odds vs. Suns in must-win Game 4 for New Orleans (Pelican Debrief)

The New Orleans Pelicans will run it back in game 4 in the Crescent City vs. the Phoenix Suns in a game the Pels have to win.

The over/under is 215 combined points, lower than last game even though the two teams easily went over. This is a do-or-die game for NOLA, so I expect playoff intensity and a win at home tonight. The New Orleans Pelicans will run it back vs.

. The Pelicans committed 46 turnovers in the first three games to the Suns' 28, leading to a point differential of 72-27. New Orleans had a 35-23 advantage in the third quarter. His flurry started on the Pelicans' first three possessions of the half, with a pair of 15-footers and a layup. But New Orleans committed just seven turnovers in Game 4. He punctuated his scoring spree with a 3-pointer from the left wing. Regardless, whatever it is, you've to adjust early in the game and figure it out.'' ''The guys who are on the floor just did it (win) the other day when we played hard and didn't shoot the 3-ball well but still won the game. They outplayed us and they deserved to win, but that's a free throw disparity.'' (The Pelicans) played much harder.'' ''It was like the old NBA,'' said Paul, who was picked up in the back court by Jones nearly the entire game. ''We were trying to be more disruptive and more physical,'' Jones said. ''We've worked so hard throughout the year to become a better team,'' Ingram said.

Suns vs. Pelicans: What you need to know about their NBA playoffs ... (AZCentral.com)

Phoenix Suns at New Orleans Pelicans · NBA first-round playoff series, Game 4 · Key matchup.

Jae Crowder is arguably the Suns' best defender next to Bridges. The Bossman 99 said he wasn't focused on his 3-point shooting as much as he was defending against Brandon Ingram in Game 1 (6-of-17 FG, 18 points). Crowder's physical style got in Jaxson Hayes' head, which caused Hayes to be ejected during Game 3's second quarter when Hayes shoved him to the floor and was ejected after being called for a Flagrant 2 foul. If Jones beats him on a close-out for a drive, Bridges and the Suns should foul him and make him earn it at the line where he's struggled in this series. Through the first three games, Bridges has clocked in a team-high 118 minutes and Jones' 112 is the third-most for New Orleans behind McCollum's and Brandon Ingram's 124 and 115, respectively. Jones' has been better from the 3 against Phoenix, up from his 33.7% during the regular season to 50% this season, but he's only averaging two from deep per game. Will he bring Suns fans another jaw-dropping dunk highlight in Game 4? Pelican rookie small forward Herbert Jones (10.3 points per game) and Suns' three-man Mikal Bridges (15.7 points per game) are both their team's fourth-leading scorers thus far in the playoffs. Deandre Ayton frontloaded his dominant performance by scoring 21 of his 28 total points mostly in the first half, and grabbed a game-high 17 rebounds. Bridges' weakness during this series has been his 3-point shooting (28.6%), which dropped from his 36.9% mark in that category during the regular season. The Defensive Player of the Year runner-up Bridges is one of the league's best at closing out on defenders. Game 3's final score wasn't indicative the game's ending. Also, their field goal percentages nearly match (Bridges, 51.7%; Jones, 52.2%), and they aren't careless with the ball as both have had just one turnover per game in the postseason. The Suns will have to find a way to win again sans Booker, who has been ruled out for the second consecutive game after he hurt his right hamstring during Game 2's third quarter in Phoenix last Tuesday. He averaged 28 points in this series' first two games.

Suns vs. Pelicans Odds, Game 4 Preview, Prediction: Bet Suns as ... (The Action Network)

Kenny Ducey previews how to bet Sunday's NBA Playoff matchup between the Phoenix Suns and New Orleans Pelicans.

You can’t ask for a better night to play the Suns than one where they hit four threes all game, and even then Paul found a way to get the Suns across the finish line. The Suns were 0-for-4 in the fourth quarter and made just four threes all game long, shooting 15.4%. Phoenix was one of the best teams from deep this year and depending on how you look at Game 3 it’s actually quite a good sign they were able to win despite those horrid numbers. Larry Nance Jr. has been a very important member of the Pelicans, but going to him in favor of Valanciunas backfired a bit. The Pelicans were only able to knock down 36.4% of shots from deep despite going small. One of the most striking things to me in that fourth quarter was how well the Suns rebounded. First and foremost, Chris Paul. That’s all that needs to be said.

Pelicans vs. Suns score, takeaways: New Orleans uses big second ... (CBSSports.com)

The New Orleans Pelicans defended home court on Sunday night, pulling away from the Phoenix Suns for a 118-103 victory in Game 4 of their first-round series ...

😤— New Orleans Pelicans (@PelicansNBA) https://t.co/gdlLnkvqB7 April 25, 2022 There were also some uncharacteristic lapses down the stretch, as he was called for eight seconds and got stripped by Alvarado on his trademark sneaky steal. Twice in this series we've seen Chris Paul take over the game in the fourth quarter, leading the Suns to wins in Games 1 and 3 with clinical execution down the stretch. Alvarado poked the ball away, and in fitting fashion it found its way to Jones for a layup. He either scored or assisted on five straight baskets to start the third quarter, putting the Pelicans back in front for good. This was a bit of a disappointing regular season for Ingram, as injuries limited him to just 55 games. On Sunday night he put together another strong performance, finishing with 30 points, four rebounds and five assists for his third straight 30-point game in this series. He's taken that chance and then some. Never had a winning record, never been in the postseason. Deandre Ayton had 23 points for the Suns, while JaVale McGee added 14 off the bench on a perfect 7-of-7 shooting performance. The Pels never trailed again, and pulled away in the middle of the fourth quarter with an energetic run led by the defense of rookies Herb Jones and Jose Alvarado. They also got a big night from Jonas Valanciunas, who went for 26 points, 15 rebounds and four assists. Now all tied at 2-2, the series will shift back to Phoenix for a pivotal Game 5 on Tuesday night.

3 Observations from Phoenix Suns Game 3 vs New Orleans Pelicans (Valley of the Suns)

The ending of Game 3 was exactly what the Phoenix Suns envisioned as their worst nightmare: CJ McCollum hit a three-pointer as time expired.

The Suns won 114-111 in a game that was never really in doubt. The turning point of the game came with the ejection of Pelicans center Jaxson Hayes. Once Hayes got thrown out midway through the second quarter, there was no one able deter any Suns players at the rim. The ending of Game 3 was exactly what the Phoenix Suns envisioned as their worst nightmare: CJ McCollum hit a 3-pointer as time expired.

Suns vs. Pelicans Postgame Quotes | 2022 NBA Playoffs Round 1 ... (Pelicans.com)

On what the difference was handling Chris Paul: "We just tried to throw different looks at him. Be aggressive. Try denying him the ball at times, ...

You know what you are going to get from him, and I think the really cool part is that he can guard on the ball and off the ball. You know, me personally, I've played a lot of these types of games, these types of atmospheres, so I want to make sure the guys are ready mentally and physically, but also it's a really unique challenge for us. “I just try to read what’s going on and try to make the next best play. He's not blocking shots out of the hand, he's meeting the ball in the air which is incredible, the wingspan, the timing, the length, and then him being able to get into the ball. That’s such a good feeling to play this way – on top of winning the game.” They’re willing to die on the court. I love the city, I love what they do, and then hearing that, it never gets old. Herb, Jose, actually everybody that steps out on the court is willing to play good defense. I feel like that fuels the entire team, even guys that are not playing, up on the bench. Having more of a mindset and a focus on not allowing Chris in the fourth quarter to dominate the game, which he's done and is capable of doing. So we're just proud of the overall effort." “I feel like that’s a huge part of the game, especially in the playoffs.
