Jeffrey Earnhardt Finishes Second In The #3 At Talladega With A ... (Whiskey Riff)

Stop me if you've heard this one before: An Earnhardt driving the #3 car was up front competing for the win at Talladega yesterday. It wasn't Dale Earnhardt ...

“Well, I had feelings on that last lap that there must have been an Earnhardt behind the wheel based on the things he was doing. By the time the pack came around to take the white flag for the last lap, Earnhardt had worked his way up to fifth. On the last restart, Earnhardt was lined up eighth to take the green flag. Jeffrey had Larry McReynolds on his pit box this weekend, the crew chief who led his grandfather Dale to his only Daytona 500 win back in 1998. It wasn’t the win that Earnhardt nation was hoping for (although Dale Jr. ended up getting a win as a car owner with his driver Gragson), but man was it cool to see all the shades of the Intimidator back in a race: The black #3 car, Larry Mac on the pit box, and an Earnhardt behind the wheel battling for a win at Talladega. And showing the same speed at Talladega as generations of Earnhardts before him, Jeffrey and McReynolds teamed up to put the #3 car on the pole and put the rest of the field on notice: The #3 car was here to win.

Jeffrey Earnhardt Seeks Opportunities After Talladega (Heavy.com)

Jeffrey Earnhardt posted a career-best finish at Talladega Superspeedway on April 23. Now he has his sights set on even more opportunities.

With Earnhardt making his first start for Richard Childress Racing and posting the best finish out of the team’s three cars, there are now questions about his future. Earnhardt has more races on his schedule, albeit with a different team. He added another start for Emerling-Gase Motorsports and then his trip to Talladega with Richard Childress Racing. The 32-year-old announced on November 9, 2021, that he would depart JD Motorsports with Gary Keller after two full-time seasons. Fell a little short, but hopefully, this will lead to a lot more to come in the future and we’ll be able to come back and give them a run for their money. “Man, I’m living a dream here and I’m so thankful to get this opportunity,” Earnhardt said.

Noah Gragson surged to victory in Saturday's NASCAR Xfinity Series race, holding on in a third overtime dash at Talladega Superspeedway.

Jeffrey did a good job to make the move (for second place).” “At that point, the 9 (Gragson) had such a run. “I’m living the dream here — I’m just so thankful to get this opportunity,” said Earnhardt, whose crew chief, FOX Sports broadcaster Larry McReynolds, was serving his first stint on a pit box since 2000. With his third-place result, however, Allmendinger claimed the $100,000 Xfinity Dash 4 Cash bonus available to the top finisher among four eligible drivers. Gragson grabbed the lead when JR Motorsports teammate Justin Allgaier ran out of fuel as he led the field to the third-overtime restart on Lap 123. “This team at JR Motorsports, they never quit,” Gragson said.

Gragson Wins, Jeffrey Earnhardt 2nd In 'Bittersweet' Talladega Run ... (SPEED SPORT)

Noah Gragson fended off a charge from Jeffrey Earnhardt in the iconic No. 3 to win the NASCAR Xfinity race at Talladega Superspeedway.

“I told our guys yesterday, ‘Man, I don’t know if you’ll ever see an Earnhardt in a black 3 car again on the pole. … It’s pretty special to be able to run (an) Earnhardt Jr. car to the win and have a 3 (behind him), just to be on the same racetrack as Jeffrey was really special. “We crossed the white flag … and our monitor blanked on us,” he said. “I wanted to sit on pole and win this thing. “The last lap everyone just goes everywhere,” said Earnhardt, who led once for 10 laps in the first stage. We sat on pole and we fell a little short on winning, but I would say mission accomplished.” … that was really cool of him to come over. Looked in the mirror and didn’t see a whole lot of help.” “I feel like I’ve been drinking through a firehose for about seven or eight days trying to absorb everything that I needed to.” “Just hard to make a move without a push … It’s every man for himself really at the end there. “It’s been a dream of mine to come out here and race the No. 3 RCR car,” Earnhardt said on pit road, as a throng of supporters looked on. It’s bittersweet.

Jeffrey Earnhardt Scores Career-Best Result, Comes Up Just Short ... (Frontstretch.com)

Despite avoiding chaos all day and in prime position on the last lap, Jeffrey Earnhardt came up just short in the Xfinity Series race at Talladega.

McReynolds spent 45 races atop the pit box for Earnhardt Sr. between 1997 and 1998, guiding the Hall of Fame driver to his long-overdue Daytona 500 win in the latter season. The No. 3 Xfinity Series entry for Richard Childress Racing didn’t get there, but the grandson of Dale Earnhardt and fourth-generation racer recorded a career-best finish after qualifying for his first-ever pole the afternoon before. Earnahrdt then made starts across multiple Xfinity teams, including Randy Hill Racing, Go Fas Racing and JD Motorsports, among other stables. The third-place finish came at Charlotte. “Just [needed] a push there at the end,” Earnhardt told FOX Sports after the race. I’ll forever be grateful for this opportunity.”

'An Earnhardt behind the wheel': Jeffrey registers runner-up in No. 3 ... (NASCAR)

A mere 0.131 seconds is all that separated an Earnhardt from Victory Lane once again at Talladega Superspeedway.

The McReynolds role was then revealed by McReynolds himself on April 17. So, that told me something: We were headed in the right direction.” The whole team did a good job, just be putting it together last minute.” Richard Childress Racing announced Jeffrey’s Talladega deal in the No. 3 on April 12. Jeffrey is in a part-time situation this year, having competed in just five of the nine races so far. Knowing the relationship that he had with my grandpa, and the work that they got to do together, just makes it all that much more special.” “Well, I had feelings on that last lap that there must have been an Earnhardt behind the wheel based on the things he was doing,” FOX Sports analyst Larry McReynolds said. “Just hearing that man’s voice on the box just makes you want to go out there and be hungry to win a race. “I knew we were right there,” Childress told NASCAR.com. “You gotta be there to have a chance to win, you can’t win when you’re loading onto the truck, so I felt really good about his chance. McReynolds, for the first time in NASCAR since 2000 and overall first time in the Xfinity Series, tapped in as crew chief. Jeffrey was driving an all-black No. 3 car that matched the one his grandfather, seven-time Cup Series champion Dale Earnhardt, made iconic. He made his way up to fifth by the last lap.

An Earnhardt - Jeffrey that is - was runner up Saturday in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.

“Larry Mac is an incredible man, and I was very thankful to have him as a crew chief today,” Earnhardt said. Hopefully this will lead to a lot more to come in the future, and we can come back here and give them a run for their money. At the end, everyone just spreads out and tries to pass everyone they can.

Jeffrey Earnhardt, the grandson of NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt, secured his first career pole for Saturday's Ag-Pro 300 at Talladega Superspeedway.

"And to be able to compete in a car like his for the guy that he drove for, it's not in the cup series, but it's still a pretty amazing opportunity that I'm just speechless about. And hopefully it's just a start to that and really give them something to cheer about tomorrow.” And it wasn't so, you know, just like I said, my grandpa’s, my hero.

His grandson Jeffrey Earnhardt is also doing a great job on the same line. Despite a successful career on the tracks, his career was cut short on February 18th, 2001 at the Daytona 500. Despite being tied with Johnson and Petty, he stands uniquely as the only driver to record seven championships in a single points system. Earnhardt Sr. is one of the greatest stock car drivers in NASCAR history, whose legacy is still alive today. In 2010, he was inducted into NASCAR Hall of Fame's inaugural class. His dominance always gave Lee Petty tough times on the tracks.
