Bulls routed by Bucks in Game 3 (Bulls.com)

The Bulls wanted to make sure they got the attention of the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks. It may not have been a great idea.

His sources are not known to the Bulls and he has no special access to information beyond the access and privileges that go along with being an NBA accredited member of the media. DeRozan dismissed the margin of defeat in deference to the result, the loss is a loss thing. We didn't come out and compete the way we should've, and that's a lesson on us. Perhaps not to the many who were streaming out of the arena early in the fourth quarter. "As a competitor, you have to take on the challenge of trying to tie this thing up," said DeRozan. "That's what we have to do come Sunday, meet that challenge. "When Lopez is down there and Giannis, it hard to finish over them," said Donovan. "You have to make the extra pass and take some open threes. "There's a huge mental component to this in the playoffs," reminded Donovan. "When you go from (games) one to two to three to four, there are a lot of things happen and for a lot of our guys this is new and as much as you talk about the fact you split in Milwaukee and everybody feels good, I knew and felt you don't win an NBA championship with the inability to respond. Donovan and DeRozan talked about making the right play and the difficult shots DeRozan made despite the Bucks defense in Game 2, but this was different. But by the time I kind of got a feel for it, they got it rolling offensively. Except for Patrick Williams, who finally lit the scoreboard with a point in the fourth, his only one of the game. The Bucks just were so much better and superior that you'd think they were attempting to win a second consecutive NBA championship. Just for the record, it was 60-41 Bucks at halftime when the Bucks closed the half sloppily, and then 73-44 four minutes into the third quarter.

It’s about being solid, knowing your role, being a star in your role and doing what you do to help the team win. Milwaukee vs. Chicago Game Three: Winning Cures All (Brew Hoop)

No Khris Middleton, no problem for Friday night's Milwaukee Bucks, as they absolutely dismantled the Chicago Bulls on the defensive end of the court, ...

Finally, he erupted in game three looking confident from tip, with a few triples landing early and then driving for finishes and kicking out the perimeter. - DeMar DeRozan was attacking Grayson Allen anytime he got him in the halfcourt offensively. With just three points total through two games, Milwaukee was waiting for their shooting guard addition this offseason to show some of the scoring punch he had all season. They didn’t relent all evening, throwing off Chicago’s rhythm by getting DeRozan off-kilter, preventing as many driving lanes and holding the Bulls to poor shooting at the rim and only eight free throw attempts through the competitive portion of the game. It was fairly successful, holding him to just eight shots in the first half as the Bulls shot 36.8% overall through two quarters. They maintained that same defensive presence and kept up their shooting in the second quarter as they built a solid 60-41 advantage by half.

Grayson Allen single-handedly ripped the heart out of Chicago Bulls fans and took life out of the United Center. The Bucks entered this game without the likes ...

If the Bulls want to stand a chance in this series, they must sadly learn from watching Allen’s performance. Not a single Bulls player outscored Allen, nor did they come close to his +15 in the plus/minus category. Of course, Allen’s infamous foul on Alex Caruso earlier in the season made him easy for Bulls fans to hate. Allen ended the game with 22 points, six boards, one steal and one block, also knocking down 5-of-7 front downtown as well. In order to fill his shoes, the Bucks needed someone to step up. The energy was largely positive, especially after the Bulls went out and took back home court advantage in Game 2 with a huge defensive effort.

However, if the Chicago Bulls end up playing up to the level that they did during the regular season, they will definitely have a chance to win at home. There is no doubt that the Milwaukee Bucks came out hungry to win this game, and it definitely paid off. The Chicago Bulls lost by 30 points to the Milwaukee Bucks on their home court in Game 3.

Heading into Game 3, the expectation among voters was that the Bulls would take advantage of Khris Middleton's absence and advance.

Let’s face it: Everyone who has been watching the Cubs has some degree of Suzuki fever. Upshot: Suzuki is the arly betting favorite for National League Rookie of the Year. Oh, and he’s also the best player Willson Contreras has ever played with. We all assume the Sox are going to have plenty of offense that season, but we’ve seen early on just how nonexistent the attack can be when this enormously talented trio isn’t powering it. Upshot: One week ago, only 15.3% of voters picked the Bulls in this series. On to the polls: The expectation is that Middleton will miss at least that much time after an awkward slip in Game 2.

Bucks vs. Bulls: Grayson Allen's hot shooting night leads Milwaukee ... (CBSSports.com)

Allen notched a playoff career-high en route to Milwaukee's blowout win.

"Mentally my mindset [in my role] was the same, maybe I was a little bit quicker to shoot some of those catch-and-shoot shots I got, but I think it was just being in different spots," Allen said after the game. Knock down shots when the defense collapsed on Giannis and Holliday, get to the rim if the option was available and be aggressive on defense. While he came off the bench in this game, his role was still the same. It was a bulk of what resulted in a 17-9 lead for the Bucks, forcing the Bulls to take their first timeout of the game. Grayson Allen finished with a playoff career-high of 22 points, Bobby Portis tacked on 18 points, Jrue Holiday had 16 of his own and Pat Connaughton finished with 11 points. In the first five minutes of the game for the Bucks, center Bobby Portis drained two 3-pointers, Brook Lopez netted a triple of his own and Jrue Holiday had two smooth finishes at the rim.

How many times did Michael Jordan’s Bulls beat the Bucks en route to a title in the 1990s, for example? The Tom Thibodeau-coached Bulls met the Bucks in the playoffs only once, in 2015 — when Antetokounmpo was still just a baby — and dispatched of them in the first round with relative ease. The Bucks and Bulls have all too rarely even been average or better at the same time. But if the Bulls win? To stoke the flames of a pure, unadulterated, angry basketball rivalry between that city (one I happen to really like, truth be told) and ours. It’s a bunch of knuckleheads standing around the “Deer District” wearing “Fear the Deer” T-shirts as they talk about getting together again after basketball season and blowing a bunch of unsuspecting deer’s brains out.

6 takeaways from Milwaukee Bucks Game 3 thumping of Bulls (Dairyland Express)

Here are six takeaways from the Milwaukee Bucks destruction of the Chicago Bulls in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series.

He was more aggressive in Middleton’s absence and reminded us of the early season, starting version of Allen. At one point, the Bucks’ bench was even booing him. Alone at the top of the key with Tristan Thompson trying to defend him, this is a drooling mismatch for the reigning Finals MVP. He attacked to the left elbow before he spun back to his right–one of his patented moves that usually sets up an emphatic finish in the lane. Antetokounmpo was making all the right reads as the Chicago defense loaded up to stop him in the paint. It was the type of improvement in his game that hasn’t always been there in past playoff performances. However, it was impossible to ignore the passes he was making. As Antetokounmpo pushes the ball up the court on the left wing, Portis slyly walks up midcourt and pauses just in front of the tip of the Bulls’ horns. He works extremely hard on both glasses and it pays off in both small and big ways for the Bucks. He’s already crouched with his hands up and waiting for the pass, making it as simple as 1-2-3 when the ball comes and he needs to quickly get a shot up. And not just at the top of the key, but a number of feet behind it. As Antetokounmpo is sizing up his man on the left baseline, Portis sits in waiting at the top of the key. He finished the night with 18 points on 7-for-14 scoring and 4-for-8 from downtown. He quickly established himself by getting off to a hot start and scoring eight points in the first four minutes and three seconds of gameplay.

The Chicago Bulls were atrocious in Game 3, getting blown out by the Bucks. Here are 3 adjustments they must make in Game 4...

Again, the Bulls need to come out with serious aggression in Game 4 and attack the cup. He was the only one that posted 20+. If you’re going to let the Bucks beat you, at least let it be the Greek Freak. For him to have such a cold night and they still blowout Chicago, it’s devastating. This comes back to the likes of DeRozan and LaVine in particular just putting their heads down and driving to the basket. The Bulls studs combined for just 26 points but the worst part of all, they took just 22 shots from the field in Game 3. Boos rained down at the United Center on DeMar DeRozan and Co. for their awful performance, which is certainly the last thing they wanted to hear in the fir playoff game in the Windy City since 2017. Well, the Bucks don’t have Khris Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo managed to score only 18 points.

Credit should go to the Milwaukee defense, as they had a clear gameplan for both DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine. Jrue Holiday and Wes Matthews got into their air ...

This game was a clear indication of what adjustments the Bucks made in order to slow down the Bulls offense. Portis made an instant impact by scoring 8 points in the first quarter and where he especially hurt Chicago was from deep. While the box score indicates they scored 26, 21 of those points came in the fourth quarter with the game already decided. It’s evident that the knee still seems to be bothering him and it’s affecting his play in this series. The Bucks packed the paint so they can easily help out in the mid-range so neither of Chicago’s two best players could get a clean shot off from that range. In the end, it was a 30 point drubbing as the series heads to Game Four on Sunday.

In their first game in the wake of Khris Middleton's injury, the Bucks bludgeoned the Bulls, 111-81, to steal back homecourt advantage.

Chicago Bulls emphasize pace after a lopsided Game 3 loss to the ... (Chicago Tribune)

The Chicago Bulls were sluggish in Game 3 against the Milwaukee Bucks. They'll need to pick up their pace to even the series on Sunday.

But to grind out a series against the Bucks, the Bulls can’t allow a double-digit lead to crush their pace of play. Get it out fast, move on, push it up the court a little bit.” “But if we don’t get any stops it’ll be hard to get out in transition.” We’ve got to run and we’ve got to get out. After Bobby Portis slotted in for Bucks forward Khris Middleton because of an MCL sprain, the Bulls should have entered Game 3 with the upper hand in speed. The Bulls succeed when their pace is frenetic, bordering on frantic.

At just 20 years old and going through his first visit to the postseason, of course Williams doesn’t know that. And not just beating out an undersized Javonte Green or the lame duck forward that was Lauri Markkanen last season. If Portis opts out of his player option in the offseason, it might be a good play to bring him back to compete against the 2020 No. 4 overall pick. Instead, the Bucks used Portis to help double-team and push Bulls scorers DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine to their left hands all night, making them relatively ineffective. “The playoffs, it’s all in,’’ Portis said. “Play with confidence,’’ Portis said of his mindset.

Bulls' Billy Donovan Wants More Space, Pace Vs. Bucks in Game 4 (NBC Chicago)

Film review confirmed Billy Donovan's first impressions of the Bulls' gruesome Game 3 loss—the Bucks were the aggressors. The solution? Pace and space.

“They’ve got to wrap their head around the fact whether it was a triple overtime game and lost on a halfcourt buzzer beater or we lost by 75 points, it’s all one game,” Donovan said. And when he came back in after that, I think he was trying to be aggressive but probably didn’t take the right ones then. “I didn’t like the shots in the fourth quarter,” Donovan said. “I think there were some opportunities for him to be aggressive in that first half and particularly in the third quarter. And we did not respond as well as we needed to, really, on both ends of the floor.” But it wasn’t just Portis. Grayson Allen checked in and aggressively drove the ball after creating space with 3-point shooting.

Chicago Bulls guard Alex Caruso's defensive play in Game 2 of their first round series with the Milwaukee Bucks played a key role in the team's victory.

He was cleared for contact in mid-March after a five-month rehab and has since worked his way back into the starting lineup. Moving forward, the Bulls will have to build on the momentum whenever it’s captured. In Game 1, he was extremely passive down the stretch, refusing to look for his own shot. In Game 2, Caruso read Antetokounmpo’s drives much quicker and came on the back-side to trap almost instantly. He also alleviated some of the pressure that was on Patrick Williams. The fourth quarter was the biggest moment of Caruso’s clinic.

Skogman was a strong shooter, at 58.7% and even from beyond the arc, Skogman shot well (37.5%) somewhat rare for a 6–10 player. Buffalo has signed 6–4 guard Yazid Powell, who averaged 14 points per game in 20 minutes of playing time for Community College of Beaver County. On January 28, 2020, Powell, a Kobe Bryant fan, poured in 81 points and missed his final free throw to keep his total at 81, which was also Bryant’s career high. Redshirt sophomore center David Skogman has transferred to Davidson. Skogman showed strong improvement in his game during his sophomore year, averaging 8 points per game and 6.3 rebounds and was the starter in his last 26 games of the year.
