Don't you dare sleep on the NFL, even for a day.
"San Francisco wants to pay Deebo Samuel, but Deebo Samuel was the one who scrubbed the 49ers logos off his social media page," ESPN's Adam Schefter previously reported Tuesday. "Deebo Samuel was the one that essentially, basically made it known he wanted to move on. Tyquan has since walked back some of his comments, dismissing them as jokes, but Deebo himself had already hinted at discontent with San Francisco. He recently took to social media to downplay threats he's received from fans over his perceived contract situation, and was seen liking an Instagram post that referred to playing for no less than $25 million per year. Entering the final year of his rookie contract, the All-Pro pass catcher isn't just holding out of voluntary workouts; he's now actively seeking a trade, according to ESPN, requesting a move out of town after breaking off negotiations with 49ers brass.

D'Andrea believes a fair deal for both sides would pay Samuel up to $125 million over five years and include $55 million guaranteed. D'Andrea projected what a contract extension for Samuel might look like—assuming he and the 49ers repair their relationship. might be looking to seek a trade. On Tuesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Samuel may not want to get a deal done with the 49ers right now. Deebo Samuel not wanting to get a deal done," Schefter said on-air. Deebo Samuel is the one that has put a halt to everything for right now."

First introduced to the tart cherry juice company while at the University of South Carolina, Samuel says he drinks it daily—doubling up on Mondays and Tuesdays after playing over the weekend. Not everybody is going to be on your side,” Samuel says. Samuel said he’s received death threats and racist messages after removing the 49ers from his social media earlier this month. “I’m kind of a guy who takes a lot of beatings on Sundays, so I had to find something that actually works, keeps my body going and keeps me up to par. He was selected to his first Pro Bowl and received first team All-Pro honors while setting an NFL single-season record for rushing touchdowns by a receiver as the Niners advanced to the NFC Championship Game. The star wide receiver hauled in 77 catches for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns, while also rushing 59 times for 365 yards and eight scores.
Two big name wide receivers have been in the rumor mill lately and could be traded, and here's how the Chicago Bears could land them.
Now, their names have entered the rumor mill and might just be available via trade. In fact, Samuel has officially requested a trade, per reports. This NFL offseason has been one for the books.
Coach Kyle Shanahan quite possibly thinks he could find another receiver who can do in the 49ers offense the things that Deebo Samuel currently does. Maybe ...
Currently, the 49ers have one of the most dangerous weapons in the sport, a hard-nosed, dual-threat receiver and running back who easily can become the focal point of any offense in the league. There’s currently a school of thought in the NFL that no receiver touches the ball enough times to merit that kind of cash. Coach Kyle Shanahan quite possibly thinks he could find another receiver who can do in the 49ers offense the things that Deebo Samuel currently does. Our best guess is that negotiations commenced, and that the 49ers made Samuel an offer that he regarded as too low. (To get to that number, the contract included a phony final season at $45 million.) It’s not hard to figure out what the contract would look like, we’ve seen some of the top numbers in the league,” Schefter said, via Wilton Jackson of SI.com. “This, I think right now, is Deebo Samuel not wanting to get a deal done.
Times have changed. In 2022, both the player and the team can get their message across via social media. Why? Because they know everyone will react one way ...
It’d be naive to ignore the potential of Samuel being traded. If a team wants to get a deal done, and the numbers are in the ballpark of what the player wants, the deal gets done. We don’t have to be on the extreme end of either side. What Schefter said could be the Niners attempting to save face for an eventual trade — whether that’s to make it seem like it was their idea to move him or vice versa is a can of worms that we don’t have to get into just yet. Deebo Samuel is the one who put a halt to everything right now. Listen, San Francisco wants to pay Deebo Samuel. But Deebo Samuel was the one who scrubbed the49ersoff his social media page.
Now that the San Francisco 49ers Pro Bowl wide receiver could ask for a trade, Deebo Samuel trade destinations will emerge before the draft.
As it currently stands the Colts will have the cap space to sign Samuel to the extension. According to Spotrac, Green Bay is projected to have over $32 million in cap space in 2023. According to Spotrac, Chicago is projected to have over $66 million in cap space in 2023. According to Spotrac, Chicago is projected to have over $122 million in cap space in 2023. As it currently stands the Bears will have the cap space to sign Samuel to the extension. Chicago does have a need for a wide receiver after Allen Robinson left to sign with the Los Angeles Rams earlier in the offseason. According to Spotrac, Atlanta is projected to have over $63 million in cap space in 2023. As it currently stands the Falcons will have the cap space to sign Samuel to the extension. New York should pull the trigger to send a Day 2 pick from 2023 to San Francisco along with their second-round picks and third-round for this upcoming draft to add a weapon like Samuel to their roster. Their offense looks a ton of a lot better on paper if Samuel became joined Atlanta. Plus playing in Atlanta would give Samuel the opportunity to play closer to his home state of South Carolina. ESPN’s Adam Schefter said on NFL Live that the 49ers are interested in getting a deal done with Samuel. But that it is Samuel who doesn’t want to sign with the 49ers for the long-term. If Deebo Samuel does get traded this offseason there is no clearer landing spot for him than the New York Jets. Earlier this offseason the Jets have tried to acquire/sign a few star wide receivers.

In the process, Samuel, 26, coined the term "wide back" because of his ability to play receiver and running back. "Like I've long said, those guys are going to be a part of us for a long, long time," Lynch said. Despite all of that, at every opportunity this offseason, San Francisco general manager John Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan have said they intend to keep Samuel with the team well into the future. Samuel, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract, told ESPN's Jeff Darlington that he has asked the 49ers to trade him. Samuel's trade request comes at a time when the price for wide receivers has exploded. On Wednesday, it became clear that Samuel and the Niners don't quite see things the same way.

This all follows an ESPN report that was published Monday that detailed Samuel, along with Titans star receiver AJ Brown, would not attend their respective teams’ on-field offseason workout programs until he got a longterm extension. Not only did Samuel catch 77 passes for 1,405 yards, but he also rushed for 365 yards on 59 carries. This would explain why there has been no movement on extension talks with Samuel, who is entering the last year of his current deal.

The 49ers surely won't have an issue finding teams that would be interested in acquiring Samuel should San Francisco trade him. Last season, the 26-year-old ...
It's safe to say that Aaron Rodgers would love the chance to work with Samuel, who played a significant role in the 49ers ending the Packers' season in both 2019 and 2021. The Lions would probably not have to include much else in a trade involving the second overall pick. New Orleans is hoping to add more weapons around quarterback Jameis Winston, who was off to a torrid start last season before an injury prematurely ended his second season with the Saints. Similar to New York, the Lions also have two first-round picks: the second overall and the final selection on Day 1. A possible trade between New York and San Francisco could also include receiver Denzel Mims, a 2020 second-round pick who has yet to pan out with the Jets. The trade also left the 49ers without a 2023 first-round pick.
God help us. I don't think I need to expand on this one too much. The Chiefs were already being penciled in for a wide receiver this draft, and they have back- ...
The Packers need a top-tier receiver if they hope to compete, and this could be their out. Maybe one Top 10 pick would be enough to get the deal done, and Samuel is a proven commodity over a top draft receiver like Garrett Wilson. Samuel is plug-and-play perfection in Kansas City, and would immediately fill the void left by Hill in a very similar role. It’s easy to imagine the 49ers being willing to send Samuel to the AFC, and get back the pick that was originally theirs (plus a little more). After trading for Matt Ryan the team is in win-now mode, and thinks it has the roster to really compete in the AFC — Samuel would be that missing piece of the puzzle. Cleveland would love a top-tier receiver to pair with Deshaun Watson, but no longer have the assets to make a deal after their mammoth trade.
The star wide receiver reportedly has an issue with how San Francisco used him on the field.

Deebo's desire to move on from the 49ers reportedly isn't about the zeroes on the new contract he covets.
That kind of production over a 17-game season would put Samuel in the top tier of NFL wide receivers alongside Adams, Hill, Cooper Kupp and a healthy DeAndre Hopkins. He knows that could lead to more injuries and shorten his career. But that apparently isn't at the center of Samuel's discontent with the 49ers.
With Deebo Samuel looking to be traded, could the Houston Texans offer one of their first round picks?
Samuel would primarily take reps in the slot, but could work a multitude of different spots after showing what he could do in space with the 49ers. The No. 13 pick is a tad enticing. Houston likely won't part ways with the No. 3 overall pick due to the value of the pick. The asking price for Samuel would be at least a first-round pick. Samuel, 26, has become one of the more explosive offensive weapons over the past two years. HOUSTON - One position of need that the Houston Texans might address even before next week's NFL Draft is receiver.
WR Deebo Samuel said he has asked the San Francisco 49ers to trade him, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday.
In that same span of time, he was catching just 3.5 passes per game, essentially becoming more of a running back than a receiver. Shanahan deployed Samuel as both a receiver and a versatile backfield weapon, handing him the ball as a running back and confusing defenses. But just two weeks later, Shanahan and offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel started moving Samuel into the backfield, increasing his usage but also changing the types of touches Samuel received in games.
Deebo Samuel is on the trade block but the idea to deal for the San Francisco 49ers star isn't as straightforward as it seems.
The truth is that the Chiefs moved on from Hill for the very reason they might avoid Samuel. The talent is there, yes, but the Niners’ wideout is going to want a major payday in the near future. Why would the Chiefs refuse to pay their own version of Samuel for the rights to pay… Third, there’s a relationship already between the teams in terms of being able to reach a trade agreement. The matchup between player and team is part of the reason why Samuel is a household name for football fans. While Yates’ tweet is funny, it’s also spot-on and the Chiefs would be a much better team with Samuel on it. On Wednesday, the Niners star made his side clear that he no longer wanted to be in the Bay Area with a demand for a trade away from the organization.
Deebo Samuel "made it known he wants to move on" from the San Francisco 49ers per Adam Schefter, do the Miami Dolphins have a chance at trading for him?
It would be unorthodox for a team to pay top-tier money to 2 WRs but the Dolphins have enough cap space ($20.4M) and flexibility to move some things around if they want to make a big splash. Telling the 49ers fanbase that he is staying in SF and there’s nothing to worry about him in Miami. The same market value that all other top WRs are getting paid this year.

eebo Samuel, the 49ers' most important offensive player, no longer wishes to be a foundational piece in San Francisco.D. Samuel told ESPN's Jeff Darlington ...
The 49ers believe they have a Super Bowl roster and Samuel is a key piece of their offensive attack. The 49ers also hold some leverage when it comes to the start of training camp. Sure. Is that a bluff the 49ers would likely call, banking on him not wanting to lose a large chunk of money?
With Deebo Samuel requesting a trade, it opens up the door for the Atlanta Falcons to finally get a playmaking wide receiver they desperately need.
He has a skill set that not many players have ever had in the history of the NFL. The draft involves a lot of luck, however, Atlanta could instead trade for a proven player that has requested a trade from his current team. Will it happen?
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero later explained what he believes the reason to be for Samuel's request: the All Pro's desire to only act as a wide receiver, not as ...
“Where he may just be a true wide receiver and potentially tack on some years to his career.” “It sounds like there’s multiple layers to this, but certainly one of them is Deebo Samuel wants to be a receiver and not a receiver/running back,” Pelissero said on The Rich Eisen Show. “His rushing attempts were significantly up last season from where they’ve been in the past. Samuel’s rushing game increased last year mainly due to various running back injuries on the team.
In yet another dramatic development at the receiver position, Deebo Samuel has requested a trade from the San Francisco 49ers.
With considerable work to do across the roster, would Holmes toss that approach out the window to acquire Deebo? A trade wouldn't be cheap in draft assets and future cap space. And Samuel would give the future franchise quarterback a go-to target whenever the Lions move on from Jared Goff. Detroit has the draft capital ( in the 32nd and 34th overall picks) and money to pay Samuel. But color me skeptical. Samuel and Diontae Johnson would be a dangerous duo for any defense, simultaneously buffering the next full-time signal-caller. An offense with Deebo, MT and Alvin Kamara would be a migraine headache for defenses. The wideout would immediately give Mac Jones a true WR1 who wins regularly and fits the versatility Belichick desires in his players. Samuel would fit perfectly in the Matt LaFleur offense and give Rodgers a go-to target who can win off the line of scrimmage. After trading Davante Adams, turning around and acquiring Samuel would alleviate serious concerns about the receiver room in Green Bay. The Packers have the draft ammo to offer the Niners a package of picks and remain all in with Aaron Rodgers steering the ship. Even after dealing one first-round pick earlier this month, the Eagles have draft capital to spare -- two first-rounders and five picks in the top 101. Pairing Deebo and C-Patt would be a headache for defenses. The Jets have draft capital and cap space to sign Deebo to a monster deal. Instead, let's presume Samuel sticks to his trade demand, and the Niners -- believing the wideout is a product of Kyle Shanahan's scheme -- are prepared to acquiesce. They also have a need at the position, a coaching staff that's quite familiar with the wideout and a fan base clamoring for a big move.
The Arizona Cardinals are included in odds for Deebo Samuel's next team, should he be traded from the San Francisco 49ers.
San Francisco is not about to trade one of the NFL’s most talented wide receivers to one of their NFC West rivals. So to anyone who is hoping Samuel finds his way to Arizona this year, it might be a good idea to not get your hopes up." Draft Kings released its own set of odds and it had the Cardinals much lower on the list of being the wide receiver's next team. BetOnline released odds for landing spots for the dynamic wide receiver in a trade and the Arizona Cardinals came in at 20/1, tied for 13th on the list. Fansided's Adam Patrick wrote: "While he would make the Cardinals‘ offense extremely dangerous in 2022, there is almost no chance that the 49ers would be willing to trade Samuel to Arizona, regardless of how much the Cardinals are willing to offer for the receiver. The Arizona Cardinals are included in odds for Samuel's next team.

eebo Samuel no longer wants to be a member of the 49ers.D. ESPN's Jeff Darlington reported Wednesday that he spoke to the star wide receiver and Samuel told ...
NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported Samuel's request came in last week and is the reason no traction has been made on an extension for the wide-back. The 26-year-old enjoyed a breakout season for the 49ers last year in which he caught 77 passes for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns while rushing for 365 yards and eight touchdowns. ESPN's Jeff Darlington reported Wednesday that he spoke to the star wide receiver and Samuel told him he has requested a trade from the 49ers.
Deebo Samuel has requested a trade from the 49ers. Why is this so, and where would be his ideal next NFL home?
Deebo Samuel has proven to be the kind of receiver capable and deserving of top status at his position. The list of teams that could handle that in 2022 without some serious short-term math, or a heavily backloaded deal, is relatively small. Any of the teams mentioned above, who already have “Samuel packages” in their offenses, would be great fits. This 50-yard reception against the Bears in Week 8 shows just how well Samuel is able to press defenders to the wall with his speed, put them in uncomfortable positions, and make the catch, whether it’s contested or not. Samuel runs a great post/corner route to upend his defender, finds open space, Garoppolo doesn’t get the memo, and it’s a sack. Back to the NFC Championship game, where Samuel shows a professional level of understanding when it’s time to find zone points in coverage on an over route. Samuel isn’t just running straight ahead on these plays; he has a fabulous instinct for turning inside, and using his running back instincts to find the gap and exploit it. Now only does Samuel flash his outstanding short-area quickness and long speed on such plays, he’s also expert and sorting through trash near the line of scrimmage to find the most favorable opening. Samuel has moves as a runner, and he’ll run with power at 6-foot-0 and 215 pounds, but the primary attribute that shows up on tape when he’s running the ball is his peerless straight-line speed. As this news comes less than two weeks before the 2022 NFL draft, it makes the possibility of a haul of picks back to the 49ers a distinct possibility. Word is that the 49ers have wanted to extend Samuel’s contract, but there are other issues that have him wanting a new home. Of course, Deebo Samuel was the primary instigator in that schematic construct — he had 86 of those runs for 502 yards and all nine rushing touchdowns.
That means that, if the wide receiver (say it, SAY IT) is acquired by Bill Belichick, the ol' ball coach won't be able to get as creative with Samuel as he was ...
Davante Adams, perhaps the No. 1 wideout in the league, headed from Green Bay to Las Vegas in exchange for a second-rounder (No. 53) and a first (No. 22), along with a hefty guaranteed contract. After all, they should be competing with every other NFL team (or, at least those with a sense of pride) to pull this trade off. Instead of looking for the “Next” Samuel, just snag the original one now for a package of picks. Samuel will expect to be paid in accordance with an elite receiver’s salary, and he also seems to be less than thrilled with the idea of remaining a WR/RB hybrid. None of the contracts have already been signed/have to be navigated. The Patriots would still be rectifying one of their biggest recent draft mistakes (and, yes, paying for it) if they acquired Samuel, who should be available for a very palatable package.
Money is the simplest and most logical explanation for hurt feelings during any contract discussion. Teams always try and save every last penny they can during ...
Team Deebo could have let the 49ers know this offseason that Samuel was willing to do what was necessary during the year last year to help the team win, but that was not going to be the case going forward. Regardless of who is to blame, however, the results could be a parting of the ways between a player and a play-caller that appeared to be a match made in heaven. They may look at things and say, “Deebo was an all-pro wide receiver last year, so he deserves top of the market money at that position. So while maybe in normal circumstances, things wouldn’t have jumped right to a trade demand, they did now because of the unprecedented movement we’ve seen at Samuel’s exact position over the last two months. While the team may look at them as one part of a long game that usually involves multiple moves towards the middle, players look at each offer as a direct valuation of their contributions. If you’re the buyer, the 49ers in this case, you start with a low offer knowing you’re likely going to have to come up from there to get a deal done.
San Francisco 49ers star Deebo Samuel reportedly wants to be traded. The Green Bay Packers have the draft picks to make it happen.

The Detroit Lions should consider making a splash by kicking the tires on adding offensive weapon Deebo Samuel who has asked out of San Francisco.
Injuries are part of the game, and sure as a franchise, you want to do your due diligence, but Samuel is coming off a very productive season. Pairing Samuel with Amon-Ra St. Brown, DJ Chark, Hockenson, and Swift with that potentially spectacular offensive line, the Detroit Lions could suddenly possess a consistent top 15 offense in 2022. If the Lions are forced to give up two first-rounders, I’d hope Brad Holmes was able to land a third or fourth-rounder coming back. Samuel has had injuries but played in 15 games as a rookie and 16 games last season. Samuel, 26-years old, is in the prime of his career and entering the final year of his rookie deal that pays him $7.2 million. Next on the list is Samuel and, maybe in the coming days, A.J. Brown and Terry McLaurin, who are both looking for new contracts before showing up to their respective camps.
Después de una temporada descomunal como el mejor en la ofensiva de los 49ers, el receptor abierto ha pedido que le busquen nuevo equipo en la NFL.
On Wednesday, the San Francisco 49ers news world was turned upside down when ESPN's Jeff Darlington reported that wide receiver Deebo Samuel had requested a ...
That is the last time the team will gather until training camp at the end of July. The 49ers kicked off their offseason program on Tuesday. Obviously, Samuel did not report. It's unclear if that quote came from inside the 49ers organization or if that is the perception around the league. If Samuel is still on the team and not present for that, it would signal he is sticking with his stance. According to Connor Hughes, who covers the New York Jets for The Athletic, the 49ers are unwilling to oblige their disgruntled star player. The most likely possibility is the quote came from inside the Jets organization. San Francisco asked him to catch passes and line up at running back, which takes a toll on the body.
Former NFL player Su'a Cravens made the same point about longevity in a tweet about Samuels and the point is that the 49ers star isn't going to last much longer ...
It's also going to be difficult to negotiate with a player when you're not exactly sure what his role will be going forward. Samuel's usage probably isn't the only reason he wants out of San Francisco, but at this point, it does seem to be the main one. However, in the final eight games he played in last year, including the playoffs, Samuel only caught five or more passes in two of them. Despite those historical numbers, it seems that Samuel isn't thrilled with the amount of hits he's been taking as a utility player. Thanks to those numbers, Samuel became just the third player in the NFL history to finish a season with at least 1,000 receiving yards along with at least five receiving touchdowns and five rushing touchdowns. Samuel caught five or more passes in seven of San Francisco's first eight games in 2021.
If Samuel's time in San Francisco really is finished, the 49ers still get to decide where he ends up. NFC teams need not apply.
In Indianapolis, there is obviously no fear of Samuel turning into a full-time running back, he gets to play with a potential future Hall of Fame quarterback who could have a Carson Palmer-esque end to his career and works with one of the best play callers in the NFL. While I might consider dealing to the Bears or the Falcons, understanding, from a 49ers perspective, that the picks would still be relatively high for the next few years (especially in Atlanta as they prepare to break in a quarterback), shipping him off to the AFC feels safer and ultimately less problematic from an optical standpoint. Similarly to San Francisco, he would play alongside a field-stretching complementary wideout who could draw top-end attention away from Samuel and provide him with clean, middle-of-the-field opportunities with which to run after the catch. The Jaguars have prospects at running back already, which would prevent any temptation to slide him over barring some kind of injury rash. They wouldn’t have to hear about getting owned on the deal for years to come. Samuel would be the biggest star the market has seen since Odell Beckham Jr., and would have ample opportunities to enlarge his brand locally. Samuel is two years younger than Hill, which, as we saw in the case of the Tyrann Mathieu/ Justin Reid swap, could more palatably fit into their contractual guardrails. While I’m not sure of the validity of reports that the Jets are having a difficult time landing free agents, trading for players and providing contract assurances on the back end is a way to jump ahead of the market. Presumably, Samuel may be concerned with being pigeonholed as a running back after carrying the ball 59 times in the regular season last year, and 27 times over three games in the playoffs. This one was obvious enough that I felt the need to pause the taping of our podcast, The MMQB Podcast, just so I could tweet it. Trade requests were simply part of the theatrics of negotiating and almost never resulted in an actual trade. Understandably, Samuel could—and should—be concerned about how that usage affects his viability to earn generational money as a wide receiver.
The Lions could set their offense for the foreseeable future with this move.
Another issue is that the Lions are going to have to get Samuel signed to an extension that would likely make him the highest paid—or one of the highest paid—receivers in the league. The Lions will have the money to get that done, but are they willing to give up that money? The Lions are going to have to push back things on the defensive side of the ball. If it goes right though, it could be one of the biggest moves for the Lions future. This move would also mean the Lions would have to use a lot of resources next year to get things done on that side of the ball. If this goes badly, it could hurt the Lions for a while. This is not a quick move to add a good player in hopes to squeak into the playoffs. Samuel is a player who can be a big part of the team for the long haul. This is an investment into the future of the team. He was fifth in receiving yards, third in catches for 20+ yards, second in catches for 40+ yards, first in receiving yards per target, fourth in yards per game and second in yards after the catch. Samuel was one of the very best receivers in the league in 2021. Here’s the whys and the hows on the deal.
The wide receiver implied that the media doesn't have the full context of the situation.
Samuel is reportedly seeking a new contract and is unhappy with how often he plays running back in San Francisco’s system. However, Samuel didn’t exactly confirm the news on social media. Samuel didn’t stop there though.
The Cleveland Browns don't need to make a big trade for Deebo Samuel, as the team already has its own weapon in the rushing and passing game: Kareem Hunt.
Better than a defensive tackle, but this is where I admittedly will tell you I’d be the worst scout. That was while playing in an offense with Nick Chubb, Jarvis Landry and OBJ (for half a season). Samuel is more of a receiver who will run, while Hunt is the opposite, but both players have unique skillsets and are capable of hitting home runs whenever they possess the ball.
While Deebo Samuel has requested a trade, multiple reports suggest the 49ers are in no rush to make a move.
Negotiations are a game of leverage, and the 49ers are in two major negotiations right now. By requesting a trade, he hopes to spark a better offer from the Niners or receive a trade to a team that will pay him what he wants. If he were to hold out this season, his contract would toll, keeping him under the 49ers team control for an additional season under his rookie-scale contract.
A lot has been said about the seemingly soured relationship between Deebo Samuel and the San Francisco 49ers. Earlier today, ESPN's Jeff Darlington reported ...
While the 49ers certainly need Samuel on their roster, Irvin believes the fourth-year wide receiver The 49ers want to keep Samuel. It won't be cheap, though. Rapoport added that San Francisco wants to sign Samuel to a contract extension, making him one of the "higher-paid receivers in the NFL." The San Francisco 49ers are looking to trade quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. The 49ers hope to avoid trading wide receiver Deebo Samuel. One would probably prefer to stay on the roster if the team hadn't drafted his replacement, Trey Lance, a year ago. The team would likely love to get the situation resolved. News broke on Wednesday that Samuel had requested a trade from the 49ers.
