As for the sailors found on Apr. 9 and Apr. 10, the Navy is “cooperating with local authorities where both incidents have occurred, as both incidents remain under investigation,” he said.

Three sailors who served on the same aircraft carrier in Virginia have turned up dead within a week, military officials said Tuesday.

"The Navy is cooperating with NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) and local authorities where these incidents have occurred to determine the facts," according to a Navy statement. The Navy identified the sailor who died on April 9, off base in Portsmouth, as Retail Services Specialist 3rd Class Mikail Sharp. That follows the cases of two sailors who "were found deceased" on April 9 and 10 in separate incidents, Myers said.

News 3 talked with a therapist who works with military families after learning about the deaths of 3 sailors from the USS George Washington.

“Military personnel are trained to control emotions and stay attached to the mission so that they can accomplish what’s required.” “When there’s no answers, then it makes one have a more difficult experience with trying to process the loss.” Whenever there’s a trauma, sometimes there’s a disassociation with the event in order to survive the event,” she said. The incident is under investigation and the command continues to cooperate with NCIS," the Navy said in a statement. "Definitely the crew of the George Washington and the families of these sailors are in our thoughts and prayers. The Sailor was treated by the medical team on board before being transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, where the Service member passed away.
