The Grizzlies went on a 17-4 run that extended the lead to 24 points. He came in and scored a quick seven points that ignited the Grizzlies' frontcourt in the second quarter. Morant went 18 quarters and more than four games without a made 3-pointer against the Timberwolves before he drilled two in less than a minute. Tillman, did not play in 20 games in the regular season and missed the first playoff game, stepped up in a major way. They tied the Timberwolves with 11 made 3-pointers after losing the 3-point battle 16 to 7 in Game 1. The foul calls allowed the Grizzlies to showcase their depth.

His layup gave Memphis a 87-60 lead with 4:15 to go in the third, and the Grizzlies led 96-77 going into the fourth. Officials called a foul on Towns early, then on the same play got Patrick Beverley for a technical after a swipe at Morant's head. Grizzlies: Entering the game had lost four of their last five games including the series opener. Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr. each added 16 with Jackson hitting 4 of 7 from 3-point range as the Grizzlies finished with seven in double figures. At one point, Memphis had Steven Adams, Jackson, Clarke and Dillon Brooks on the bench with two fouls. Timberwolves: The NBA's top scoring team shot 39.5%. The Grizzlies offense was sluggish most of the game, while the Wolves got a hot performance from Anthony Edwards, who went off for 36 points on 12-23 shooting ...

I expect the Memphis Grizzlies to respond to Game One’s disappointment in a big way. That strategy helped the Clippers make KAT look helpless in the Play-In, and although he likely won’t play that bad the rest of the season, the Grizzlies need to make things more difficult for KAT. Still, Jenkins doesn’t need to minutes watch and play his best 5 of the night as much as possible. BC and Kyle were helpful, and Ziaire Williams had a nice run in the first half but ultimately the bench, specifically De’Anthony Melton, needs to be better. Saturday’s game in a way reminded me of Ja Morant’s first game back following his knee injury against the Oklahoma City Thunder. In that loss, the Grizzlies did a ton of standing around while Ja attacked in isolation as the Thunder packed the paint. The Wolves will fight all game long, but if Memphis can build an early lead they should be able to force the Wolves to play tight, just like Memphis did on Saturday. It’s still not a game plan the Grizzlies should rely on. The Grizzlies look to rebound following Saturday’s disappointing loss in Game One to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Memphis lacked energy from the opening tip, with the Timberwolves taking an advantage and early lead. The Grizzlies had a couple of runs in them to tie the game up at multiple points, but couldn’t ever really get over the hump and take a lead. The Wolves were up double digits by the midway point of the quarter as the Grizzlies looked like a team that hadn’t played a live basketball game in a week. Memphians know how wild FedExForum can get, and the Grizzlies have used that momentum in the past to carry themselves to victory. Memphis fans know better than anyone, though, that Game One isn’t always a testament to how the series goes.

His nine rebounds represent a playoff career-high for the third-year point guard, and his 10 assists took him to double-digits for the third time in postseason play. The All-Star point guard led the way for Memphis in one of his best playoff games to date. That defeat gave Minnesota home-court advantage in the series, and if they'd gone up 2-0 on Tuesday, the Timberwolves could've swept the series without ever returning to Memphis. The reserve, who didn't play in Game 1, scored 13 points and defended Towns for several possessions. After being torched for 130 points in 105 possessions in Game 1, the Grizzlies' sixth-ranked defense returned to form Tuesday. The defensive shifts on Anthony Edwards kept the budding star off-balance. Kyle Anderson assumed Adams' spot in the starting lineup to begin the third quarter. He had a game-high 23 points, and scored or assisted on 15 of the Grizzlies' 30 field goals in the paint. But the Grizzlies power forward settled in, draining four buckets from beyond the arc and playing a key role in Memphis' strong defensive game. Coach Taylor Jenkins had characterized the team as "pissed," and Grizzlies power forward Jaren Jackson Jr. groused repeatedly about playing "s---ty."

5 takeaways from Game 2 of Grizzlies-Timberwolves series (NBA.com)

Memphis responds to losing its 1st game as a No. 2 seed with a resounding victory to even the series, which shifts to Minnesota on Thursday.

And sure enough, there it was: On March 21, 1953, the Boston Celtics (64) and the Syracuse Nationals (64) combined to shoot 128 free throws in a four-overtime game. The Grizzlies point guard was a little tentative with the ball, slow in some of his decisions and a little sticky with his dribble. After calling 20 fouls in the first 12 minutes, the crew called only 30 more in the next 36. And Kyle Anderson started the second half at center in place of struggling Steven Adams, scoring just one bucket but posting a plus-24 in his 18 minutes. Well, after one quarter, the Wolves (18) and the Grizzlies (15) had combined for 33. It would have been historic, and it would have been unwatchable. Burly Xavier Tillman Sr. drew a DNP in the opener but had 13 points and seven rebounds, four on the offensive glass. They matched the Wolves with 11 threes while still scoring 60 in the paint. The job at that point is to find open teammates. Heck, they did the next best thing, never meeting Memphis’ anticipated and then real aggressiveness. Morant put up 32 points in the opener and got to the foul line 20 times. “We’re going to say whatever has to be said in the moment to get us going.

Memphis Grizzlies Even Series With A Ja Morant Family Affair | SLAM (SLAM Online)

The Memphis Grizzlies evened their first round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves with a dominant and balanced performance from Ja Morant.

Something that impressed ESPN analyst Jalen Rose to the utmost earlier this week. His father has collaborated with Karl Anthony Towns’ father to add a fun trash-talking element to the series that started at the end of Game 1. Memphis Grizzlies: 3 bold predictions for Game 3 vs. Timberwolves ... (ClutchPoints)

It's the NBA Playoffs and we have some Memphis Grizzlies predictions for their Game 3 clash against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday.

Morant is a player that loves the big stage and he’s looking to make a statement on Thursday against the not-so-humble Timberwolves team. While Bane has struggled shooting the 3-ball against the Timberwolves throughout the season, we’re expecting him to flip that narrative and put up some big numbers in a must-win game on Thursday night. If Memphis wants to use a smaller lineup, they proved on Tuesday they’re comfortable of letting Anderson and Tillman take over at center, which opens up the offense along the perimeter and can get them going from beyond the arc. Bane is one of the key cogs in Memphis’ offensive approach and while they had a more rounded scoring effort on Tuesday, we’re expecting him to look to score more frequently on the road. We’re expecting him to bounce back with a big night from beyond the arc in Game 3, hitting at least four deep balls on the night and going off for 20+ points. The Grizzlies will hope to pick up where they left off when they enter the Target Center on Thursday, and we have some bold predictions for Grizzlies-Timberwolves Game 3.
