Clippers lose play-in to Timberwolves, will play for 8 seed (Los Angeles Times)

Minnesota went on a 16-2 run in the fourth quarter to take control of game and beat the Clippers, who play Friday at home for the eighth seed.

“Are you f—ing serious?” Towns said after his fourth foul in the half. Lineups with a center and lineups with all wings all eventually bogged down. When George drove past Towns, Reggie Jackson reached in for a swipe before Zubac’s straight-up defense bumped Towns to the floor. Lue was worried about rebounding; the Clippers grabbed 10 fewer. I miss it, his doing it on our side, because it’s contagious.” But the Clippers could not finish the job even when leading by 10, appearing to have no backup plan when their first had worked so well. The Clippers made 16 of 35 three-pointers but only 12 of 28 shots inside the paint. Lue knew Beverley would try to rile his former teammates; he did, his seven-point, 11-rebound line not coming close to quantifying the cockiness he supplied a team with no baseline for postseason intensity. He nearly baited Marcus Morris Sr. into an ejection by entangling their arms. With the Clippers focusing their energies on Tuesday’s play-in game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the bench led the way to a 138-88 win over the Thunder. “Obviously if we don’t win we go home. And after the Clippers failed to make the most of their chances, they have just one more chance to extend their season, hosting the winner of the play-in game between ninth-place New Orleans and 10th-place San Antonio on Friday in a win-or-else game at Crypto.com Arena for the Western Conference’s eighth and final playoff spot.

Play-in Preview: Three things to look for in Clippers at Timberwolves (NBC Sports)

In what will be an interesting Xs and Os matchup, Karl-Anthony Towns and the Timberwolves host the Clippers in a 7/8 play-in matchup.

The Clippers’ offense has better shooters and if their inside-out game works to get guys like Kennard, Norman Powell, Covington, and Batum clean looks, the Timberwolves are in trouble. However, George has missed a lot of time this season and the ball sharing with Reggie Jackson in the clutch, the finding of shooters like Luke Kennard on the pass, is not smooth yet. It sounds rather simplistic, but it’s going to be true in this game because both rely on it: Whichever team shoots better from 3 will win this game. George gives the Clippers what every team needs in the postseason: A guy who can just go get them a bucket. Straight big-man matchups with Ivica Zubac, a feisty smaller big who will get under Towns’ skin in Marcus Morris, quick doubles with Paul George and Robert Covington, and if the Timberwolves use a pick to try and get a matchup they want no team scram switches better behind the play than the Clippers. Los Angeles had a lot of long, high IQ defenders and they can execute what will be a clever game plan from Tyronn Lue (an underrated game coach). This is the best Xs and Os matchup of the entire first round.

Minnesota and Los Angeles face off for a shot at the No. 7 seed in the West.

This game should be a fun one, and with George back for the Clippers, it wouldn't be surprising to see this team come away with the win. Clippers: L.A. isn't used to being this low in the West standings, and frankly not many people expected this team to look this impressive with Kawhi Leonard sidelined the entire season from an ACL tear. Minnesota's offense has the ability to run teams off the floor, and if it's clicking Tuesday night then the Wolves could cruise to a win. A win by either team will secure the No. 7 spot in the Western Conference playoffs, while a loss means another game to fight for the final spot in the postseason. Karl-Anthony Towns is a more versatile scoring threat, second-year guard Anthony Edwards has significantly improved on both ends of the floor and the Timberwolves have been one of the most potent offensive attacks all season. The Clippers also had another night of scattered cold scoring stretches, which weren’t helped by their percentage from the free-throw line (74-1%). If they’re going to bounce back on Friday night, it has to start with their shot selection and their spacing offensively. The Clippers tried their best to match that intensity but ultimately fell short, losing 109-104 at the Target Center. Lunchbreak: Vikings Take In Thrilling Timberwolves Comeback Win (Vikings.com)

Vikings linebacker Za'Darius Smith took to social media to showcase the outing, which mostly included defensive players for the Vikings.

Willis — my QB1 — has the agility and speed of a high-end receiver but the lower-body build of an inside linebacker. That was the most by any player in the country, and more than a dozen better than second place (Breece Hall, 92). He averaged 0.5 missed tackles per touch, meaning he forced one every other rush. He even got 19 offensive touches at Houston. But he makes this list for his ability as a return man. The 2022 All-Satellite team is littered with prospects who are tough to contain when they get some room to operate, and I ranked the best of the best. Williams did not run the 40-yard dash at the combine — he is recovering from a torn ACL suffered during the College Football Playoff national title game — but he would have likely been among the fastest burners in Indianapolis. He averaged 19.9 yards per reception last year. Jones hasn't participated in pre-draft workouts as he works back from a shoulder injury, but his speed/quickness combination on tape is elite. I think he's one of the fastest players in the country. Jones is a 5-foot-8, 174-pound nickelback who reads the quarterback well and excels in zone coverage. His instincts are terrific, and he is at his best on the move — both as a passer and a runner. That combination of traits is unparalleled in this draft class — and it would be in most classes, for that matter. Numerous players were in attendance at Target Center for the play-in game between the Timberwolves and Clippers, which ended with a 109-104 win for the home team. Edwards and Russell combined for 59 points in the victory, which helped the Timberwolves secure a playoff berth for just the second time in 17 years.
