There's a reason Jokic is one of the top contenders for the NBA MVP Award this season.
Jokic is averaging 27.1 points, 13.8 rebounds and 7.9 assists while shooting 33.7 percent from three this season. The Nuggets are currently the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference playoff race, despite missing star players Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. this season. Jokic took an inadvertent elbow to the forehead from Grizzlies big man Jaren Jackson Jr. in the opening minute of the contest.
Dillon Brooks made a midrange jumper and turned towards the Denver Nuggets' courtside section on his way up the court, Desmond Bane hit a sidestep 3-pointer ...
The Grizzlies have two games remaining and must win both to secure the best record in franchise history. The problem came in allowing the Nuggets to shoot 55%. It wasn't just Jokic. Aaron Gordon led the Nuggets with 20 points in the first half and finished with 22. The Nuggets (48-33) went on a 17-3 run in the first quarter and never trailed again. Memphis (55-25) went 9-for-17 on 3-pointers in the first half. The Nuggets called a timeout, and then everything flipped.
The new Broncos QB also unleashed his first deep ball, throwing an autographed football into the crowd.

I just love Nuggets fans ... they're always bringing the energy that we need." I'm not saying they're not great players. "I think I had a great season, the whole season, even better than last year," Jokic said. "There's other great players. The rest, quite literally, was history. "The MVP isn't even a competition," Malone said in his postgame press conference.
Denver Nuggets clinched a playoff berth Thursday with a win over Memphis Grizzlies and Nikola Jokic made NBA history.
Would the Denver Nuggets or the Utah Jazz be the better playoff matchup for the Dallas Mavericks? Our staff discusses this topic at length.
If made to pick, avoiding the team with the MVP candidate in the first round would likely be the preferred outcome since much of a playoff series is dictated by the superstars. And if the odds are in the favor of Dallas? Well, count me in. The Mavs guards, led by Luka Doncic, should feast in a series with Denver, and they have enough long, athletic defenders to make Jokic uncomfortable at the very least. With Doncic, there’s going to be a very good chance of Dallas winning either series. Dalton Trigg: I flip-flop on this a lot, because on one hand, the Jazz seem to be imploding as a team - although they have looked a little bit better as of late against shorthanded opponents. The Mavericks are outstanding, but they also perform like a well-oiled machine because the pieces fit just right. If I have to pick one though, I’ll go with the Nuggets. If they had Jamal Murray, my choice might be different. Kirk Henderson: Angling to play anyone is a dangerous business for a team like this one. Utah has blown many fourth-quarter leads this season, and Donovan Mitchell doesn’t seem to get the ball to Rudy Gobert as much as he should, especially when Gobert has a smaller defender on him. Over the course of a potential seven-game series, I tend to think Jason Kidd can devise a defense to limit The Joker enough for the Mavs to prevail. Although Western Conference standings aren’t completely set yet, we already know that the Mavs will be facing either the Utah Jazz or Denver Nuggets in the first round. Does it really matter who they play in the first round this time around given Luka Doncic’s current level of play?
It was clear throughout the second half that Nikola Jokic, who finished with an incredible 35 points and 16 rebounds, was on a mission to clinch their playoff ...
It was clear that the Nuggets had much more to play for and needed this win after a tough loss against the Spurs. At the end of the day, Grizzlies fans should not be worried about this loss. It was a bad night, which the Grizzlies have avoided for much of the season. He scored 8 points in the third quarter and tried to get the Grizzlies back into the game; however, it was not enough to turn the tide once the Nuggets built their lead. Jaren Jackson Jr. was able to get to the rim pretty well and gave the Nuggets some matchup problems early on. It was more of the same for the Grizzlies as they could not get many stops or get easy buckets in transition that they have thrived on all season. The defensive intensity was not up to the Grizzlies' usual standards as the Nuggets led 70-53 at halftime.
If you're not familiar with Film Fridays, each Friday, I'll be looking at some recent Denver Nuggets' games, lineups or something else from a film aspect to ...
Jokic’s vision and willingness to make that pass shows the trust that he has in his guys, and it also opens up chances for him to score later in the game when the defense has to honor the other players on the floor. Green must have read Jokic’s mind because he cut at just the right time with no one on the defense in his way to catch the pass before flushing down the dunk. The pass to Morris is the answer to the tweet above from Ryan Russillo. He tips it to himself then gets the layup to fall which puts Denver up by eight with just over 1:30 left in the game. He finished the game with 46 points, but he entered the fourth quarter with just 16. The only person with more is Joel Embiid with 100. He takes Mason Plumlee off of the dribble here and puts up the shot. Will Barton puts up a shot with Jokic down in the paint. He grabs his own rebound and puts it back up while scoring through the foul. The first thing I love about this clip is Aaron Gordon being the first guy off of the bench to celebrate Jokic’s basket. In last night’s victory over the Memphis Grizzlies, Jokic became the first player in NBA history to score 2,000 or more points, grab 1,000 or more rebounds while dishing out 500 or more assists.
