This offseason has been wild when it comes to wide receiver movement. Davante Adams was traded from the Green Bay Packers to the Las Vegas Raiders, ...
The star wideout surely wants a new deal, but with all of the movement we have seen this offseason, it's best to be on your toes. Murray wants a new deal and has been aggressive in pursuing it. Some hypothesized there was trouble in Arizona -- and they were somewhat right.
There is growing speculation star wide receiver Deebo Samuel is frustrated with the San Francisco 49ers.
His versatility is unmatched, as he’s capable of fighting for the deep ball downfield or carrying the rock through the tackles. Jimmy G is a big cap hit. Deebo is gone. This is crazy. Samuel has made several big changes to his Instagram profile. This all stems from Samuel’s desire for a new contract.
But after McAfee pointed this out, Samuel removed the profile picture of himself in a San Francisco uniform and left the space blank.
Samuel is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent in 2023, but he hasn’t come to terms on a new deal with the 49ers after a first-team All-Pro selection this past season. Davante Adams was dealt to the Raiders and he got a new deal worth $141.25 million over five years, averaging $28.25 million a season. But after McAfee pointed this out, Samuel removed the profile picture of himself in a San Francisco uniform and left the space blank.
Is there trouble between the San Francisco 49ers and their star wide receiver, Deebo Samuel? First, many noticed that Samuel had unfollowed the team on ...
One day after 49ers general manager John Lynch gave assurances his team was intent on working towards a contract extension with wide receiver Deebo Samuel, head coach Kyle Shanahan gave a thumbs-up of his own, saying he'd "recommend" keeping Samuel around for the long term. However, Saleh and company are also watching what is happening around the NFL. ESPN's Rich Cimini reports that the Jets are "keeping an eye" on the situations with the Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, and San Francisco 49ers (h/t Sasha D. Robinson). "A handful of star receivers are entering the final year of their rookie contract, including DK Metcalf, A.J. Brown, and Deebo Samuel," wrote Cimini. "The market is blowing up, which might make it harder for their teams to re-sign them." After a week of rumors revolving around the interest in San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel this week, general manager John Lynch reiterated his firm intentions that both Samuel and star defensive end Nick Bosa would receive extensions and remain 49ers for the foreseeable future. Speaking at the NFL's annual league meeting, Lynch said there's been "good communication" with both players' camps, continuing that there's "a plan for each of those guys," as he stated earlier in the offseason following the season. Samuel is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is eligible for an extension. Samuel has watched many of his peers cash in this offseason.
Having removed 49ers references on his social media, Deebo Samuel certainly seems to be at odds with his employer amid what are likely contract talks.
If you haven’t noticed, Samuel has stopped following the Niners on his Instagram page, and he’s also gone through and removed the overwhelming bulk of 49ers-related content on there. Now looking at a likelihood of commanding well north of $20 million annually, Samuel’s price tag just shot way up. His profile pic, once of him in a San Francisco uniform, is currently blacked out. Changing a relationship status is also the first thing to happen. Maybe not a great idea, but it’s your choice. At any rate, it sure appears as if All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel and the San Francisco 49ers are going through a bit of a fight right now.
Is this just a contract negotiation ploy or does it spell bad news for the 49ers and...
Arnaz Battle was handed a contract extension back in 2005, and prior to that, Terrell Owens and J.J. Stokes got extensions in 1999. Samuel was expected to receive a contract extension with the team this offseason as he enters the final year of his rookie deal. That being said, as Ari Meirov of Pro Football Focus noted, there’s always the possibility that this means absolutely nothing.
Samuel became a Pro Bowler and a first-team All Pro during his third season, with 1,405 receiving yards and 365 rushing yards. He averaged 6.2 yards per carry.
Of course, if they were to trade or release quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, they’d instantly pick up another $25 million, instantly. Samuel clearly deserve a significant contract. As more and more receivers get paid, others who are due to get paid will expect to get paid.
Deebo Samuel's every move on social media has been dissected and scrutinized with a looming new contract.
Star receivers Davante Adams, Tyreek Hill and Stefon Diggs all have received lucrative contract extensions in the last few weeks. Samuel is heading into the last year of his rookie contract and is eligible for an extension this offseason. Yes, Samuel literally has gone dark on his Instagram profile and has removed a bunch of posts.
Second, San Francisco is already loaded with top-of-market contracts. Trent Williams, George Kittle, Fred Warner, Arik Armstead and Kyle Juszczyk all have ...
The IG alterations are likely a result of negotiations which is worth paying attention to, but the panic button on whether he’ll be with the team next season shouldn’t be dusted off just yet. There’s lots of negotiating to happen and finding a middle ground involves back-and-forth between the sides. There are no clear answers and getting to a conclusion is going to be a long, perhaps sometimes rocky road. Paying him as a runner takes his 1,400 receiving yards off the table. Paying him based on his value as a pass catcher takes his eight rushing scores off the table. Deebo Samuel, in the midst of the first offseason where he’s eligible for an extension, scrubbed his Instagram of virtually anything 49ers related.
Make of this what you will. All Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who's in the middle of a contract-extension negotiation with the 49ers, removed his profile ...
Do the 49ers want to make Samuel one of the highest paid wide receivers in the NFL and pay him more than $27 million per season? The 49ers clearly didn't want to make Buckner one of the highest-paid defensive tackles in the NFL and pay him more than $20 million per season. Failing that, it seems like Samuel probably is frustrated with the 49ers, and that's natural during negotiations.
Frank Gore believes what Deebo Samuel brings to the 49ers is well worth a contract extension.
“[Samuel] could have played with us, with me and Justin [Smith] and Pat [Willis],” Gore told McFadden. “Bro, he could have been a dude on that team. San Francisco’s “wide back” is at the center of its offense, and general manager John Lynch has made it clear that the team’s goal is to keep Samuel for the foreseeable future. The wide back has Gore’s respect, too.
Evaluating pros and cons of Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes trading for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel.
He's become the face of the increasingly popular "positionless" player trend in the NFL. So, any kind of trade offer for the "Swiss Army knife" offensive weapon will more than likely have to include multiple draft picks. He can line up out wide, in the slot and in the backfield, and beat defenders at every level. In 2021, the all-purpose yard phenom racked up 1,405 receiving yards and six touchdown catches, to go along with 365 rushing yards and eight TDs on the ground. And, although Holmes has nine total picks at his disposal in this April's draft, I believe that the organization will be hard-pressed to part with valuable draft capital for a player that's in the last year of his contract. All of the above could lead to a parting of ways between the two sides before the start of the 2022 campaign.
The biggest news of the day yesterday wasn't a free agent signing or a trade, but it was almost as significant. Deebo Samuel scrubbed just about all ...

Plus, now that the Bat-Signal of Deebo’s discontent has been shined in the sky, the 49ers are likely going to get a ton of calls about his availability. It might not be the worst thing in the world for the team to have a trade offer they find acceptable in their back pocket while these talks are going on. Social media posts, and the accounts themselves, are a snapshot in time. It’s not like there’s a single button he could push that would magically delete only the posts with 49ers content in them.
Deebo Samuel is entering the last year of his rookie contract with the 49ers, and he sent a clear message Thursday amid negotiations on an extension.
It will be interesting to see how the 49ers and Samuel handle this situation if it stays a stalemate heading into camp. 49ers general manager John Lynch said earlier in the offseason he had extensions for Samuel and Bosa budgeted. That versatility is an asset, but it also could give the 49ers reasons to avoid paying him like Diggs and the Raiders' Davante Adams: He doesn't have their receiving volume, and his dual-threat role makes him more susceptible to injury.
Deebo Samuel reportedly wants to be the highest-paid non-QB in the NFL, but that's not as hard for the 49ers to do as it sounds.
However, a significant portion of the contract’s value is baked into a non-guaranteed $43.9 million base salary in 2026. Watt will receive $80 million over the first three years of the deal, but notice, even that, is slightly less than the reported value of his extension. Like Hill, most of Adams’ contract’s value is baked into non-guaranteed base salaries north of $35 million in 2025 and 2026. Tyreek Hill technically received the largest contract for a non-quarterback in terms of average annual value through the four-year, $120 million contract extension he signed with the Dolphins this offseason. With several other premium talents due for big contracts, they might become more enticed with trading Samuel for a massive haul from a team like the New York Jets. Up to this point, however, the Niners have been unable to reach a deal with their 2019 second-round pick.
