Jefferson is going to be worth somewhere in the range of $25 to $30 million per season if he keeps producing at this elite level. Even though they technically could have him on an affordable rookie contract for five seasons with the fifth-year option, they'll want to appease their franchise player by getting him paid and locked up long-term sooner rather than later. Also, follow me on Twitter and feel free to ask me any questions on there. Just something to keep in mind moving forward. He leads all players with 3,016 receiving yards over the past two seasons, despite those being the first two seasons of his career. The market for receivers is exploding.

Diggs' payday makes him one of nine receivers to average $20-plus million per year and one of eight with at least $50 million guaranteed. Compare that to six edge rushers making $20-plus million per year and seven with more than $50 million guaranteed. In the Bills' pass offense, he makes everything work by demanding coverage shade his way, opening opportunities for the likes of rising stud Gabriel Davis to shine. The $70 million in guarantees ranks second-most among all receivers, behind only Hill's $72 million. The Buffalo Bills agreed to terms with wideout Stefon Diggs on a four-year, $96 million contract extension that can be worth more in incentives, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday morning. After joining Buffalo two years ago, Diggs led the NFL in receiving in 2020 with 127 catches for 1,535 yards on his way to first-team All-Pro honors and a Pro Bowl selection.

Back in the Bills’ Super Bowl heyday, Kelly and Reed formed one of the greatest tandems in NFL history. Only Adams tops those numbers since 2020 as he had 238 catches for 2,927 yards and 29 TDs when he was teamed up with future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers. Tyreek Hill was traded by Kansas City to Miami and signed a new deal that averages $30 million per year, highest among all wide receivers. He was scheduled to count a team-high $17.9 million this season, but that number should shrink precipitously. Per Schefter’s report, Diggs would like to retire as a member of the Bills. “I know the media has to talk about it, the social media world we’re in.

Massive Stefon Diggs contract means only good things for Justin ... (Vikings Wire)

Stefon Diggs' massive contract extension could have a big impact on the Minnesota Vikings' future negotiations with Justin Jefferson.

But that won’t always be the case, and you can’t expect a young, emerging superstar like Jefferson to accept a team-friendly deal on his first major extension. Jefferson will be in the third year of his deal in 2022, and the team will obviously pick up the fifth-year option on his contract down the line as well. And he’s already broken the record set by Odell Beckham Jr. for the most receiving yards in his first two NFL seasons. Keep in mind, the team will also be coming back to the table with quarterback Kirk Cousins around that time as well. Jefferson’s agent might not even have to lift a finger with the market doing his job for him. The market could get even bigger.
