There are four players who have emerged at the top of this draft class. Which players are the biggest risers and fallers on the board after the NCAA tournament?
Malaki Branham, G, Ohio State: A 6’5 wing with a 6’10 wingspan, Branham is an excellent shooter who hit 41.6 percent of his threes and 83.3 percent of his free throws as a freshman. The 6’9 freshman forward raised the level of intensity every time he took the floor, showing the ability to switch onto smaller players, wall up around the rim, and cover a ton of ground with his mobility. Ochai Agbaji, G, Kansas: Agbaji was always a big-time athlete on the wing, but it took him four years at Kansas to grow into the shooter he needed to be to attract serious NBA attention. Dieng remains rail thin and needs to develop quickly as a shooter, but his height and flashes of perimeter skill make him a worthy upside swing. A pair of 18-year-old wing prospects with international pedigrees offer raw but enticing upside that could be tough to turn down in the lottery. I’ve been lucky enough to cover every NBA draft since 2014, and this is the first time I’ve ever had four players in the top tier. He finished top-30 in the country with a 9.9 percent block rate this season as one of the nation’s youngest freshmen. I guess I’ve learned some humility over the years — having the public receipts on all your hits and misses will do that to a man. We put Smith ahead of Ivey in this mock based on fit with the Pistons. We published a lengthy breakdown of why Duke forward Paolo Banchero is our top player in the 2022 NBA draft class over the weekend. While he should be a solid defender, he doesn’t project as be as impactful on that end as Holmgren or Smith. Read our full breakdown on Banchero here. This mock draft was mostly crafted off our personal big board, but fit was taken into consideration for a few of the selections.
After a whirlwind of a couple of weeks, it's time to take a look at how the NCAA Tournament reshaped the 2022 NBA Mock Draft board. Were players like Duke's ...
He has a quick and powerful burst when he attacks the basket and he also knocked down a pair of clutch 3s. Koloko has the agility and athleticism to hold his own on switches at the NBA level and he's still growing his offensive game. He's a capable passer off the bounce, making him a pick-and-roll threat, but he has a tendency to force it and turn the ball over at times. It was a disappointing freshman season for Baldwin. The No. 5-ranked player in his high school class elected to take his talents to mid-major Milwaukee to play for his father and didn't dominate at that level the way he was expected to. At 6-foot-9 with a reported 7-foot wingspan, Sochan can hold his own in the paint but he's also quick enough to guard on the perimeter. He finished at the rim and flashed a reliable floater, but also knew when to dish it off to his teammates when the defense collapsed on him. Mathurin had one of the best individual games of March Madness with his 30-point performance in an overtime win over TCU. He was the fastest and most explosive player on the floor, blowing by defenders to attack the basket. Griffin slides down a few spots following the NCAA Tournament. The freshman wing had a slow start to his freshman season but eventually found his groove as a scorer. He has proved to be a long and versatile defender who can comfortably guard four positions and his ability to score from all three levels of the floor, on or off the ball, makes him a plug-and-play player in the NBA. Holmgren silenced some of his critics, but there will always be doubters who don't see how he projects as a top prospect in the NBA. He was dominant on the glass as well, recording two double-doubles while coming up just one point and one rebound shy of a third against Memphis. Holmgren also flashed some confidence as a ball-handler and knocked down a couple of jumpers that made you see why he's in consideration for the top pick. His agility at his size made for a mismatch any time bigs tried to defend him on the perimeter.

The Baylor freshman had a strong start to the season, which increased his draft stock. All of those things project well as an NBA prospect, but he needs to censor his shot selection to avoid those woeful off-nights. He failed to score more than seven points in either of Baylor's games, going 0-for-5 from 3-point range. He should still be a mid-first-round pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. Love is an incredible shot creator, and we saw that several times during the tournament. Miami liked to play fast with at least three ball-handlers on the floor, and Kessler couldn't keep up. He was dominant inside and controlled the glass. Mathurin had one of the best individual games of the tournament with his 30-point outing in an overtime win over TCU. In that game, the Arizona sophomore showcased how lethal he can be with an explosive first step, confident shooting stroke and a deep arsenal of tricks to create his own shot. But Griffin's volatility this season is something to monitor. The senior wing caught fire from 3-point range, flashing his improved jump shot that has him skyrocketing up Mock Draft boards. The NCAA Tournament can be a big stage for prospects to raise their draft stock but it can also magnify their weaknesses. He had 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field, knocking down two of his three 3-point attempts.
The top three players haven't changed, so we take a look at how they fit with the teams at the top of the lottery.

With the college hoops season in the books, Jason McIntyre has his first NBA Mock Draft of 2022, beginning with Paolo Banchero.
Keels is still a young 18 — he won’t even be 19 at the draft — and if he stays in Durham, there’s a chance the PG job is his. Jason McIntyre is a FOX Sports gambling analyst, and he also writes about the NFL and NBA Draft. He joined FS1 in 2016 and has appeared on every show on the network. The 18-year-old from France will turn 19 before the draft, and his solid season in one of the best international leagues on the planet has solidified his spot in the first round and possibly the lottery. Besson is averaging 14.4 PPG and turns 21 this month, making him a veteran floor general in this draft, compared to the freshmen from college. There are lots of questions in Brooklyn. Same deal with Montero, a point guard with the speed of Derrick Rose who brings a lot of offense to the table but not much defense. Sochan was a four-star recruit who was born in Oklahoma, grew up in England and played basketball in Germany during the pandemic. Few players have seen their pro fortunes shift as dramatically as the 6-5 freshman from Columbus, Ohio. For the first two months of the season, he scored double-digits once and got to the foul line a total of six times. Banchero was unstoppable down the stretch in the NCAA Tournament, and he’s going to be a sizable favorite to win Rookie of the Year. I think he’s solidly in the 5-10 range, and the biggest concern is his lack of defensive intensity — or interest, really — if he doesn’t get the ball for stretches. In an extremely weak point guard draft, if he can sell teams that he’s a PG, he might top the list. I’m as bullish on Ivey as anyone, but his shortcomings as a prospect were on display in the NCAA Tournament. I compared his passing to Boris Diaw on my Big Board in July. He’s not the skywalker that Blake Griffin was, but he can be that physical and overpowering.

This mock draft was mostly prepared from our personal big board, but fit was kept in mind for some of the selections. College Basketball Season is Officially in the Books Kansas Jayhawks Cutting the nets as the national champion on the men’s side. We have been covering the 2022 draft category since the 2021 draft was held, with the introduction of our first board in July. While a lot has changed since the preseason, the top two players on our board have remained in that order.
Simulation No. 2: Knicks get the 12th pick · 1. Oklahoma City: Chet Holmgren, C, Gonzaga · 2. San Antonio: Jabari Smith, PF, Auburn · 3. Portland: Paolo Banchero, ...
They have the 12th-worst record in the NBA, which lends them the 12th-best odds at the No. 1 pick, but they also are in the middle of a logjam. The ninth-worst team has 4.5 percent odds at No. 1 and 20.3 percent odds at the top four. New York sits at 35-44 heading into Wednesday’s game against the
With Kansas' national title race capped off with a 72-69 victory over North Carolina, the Jayhawks' Christian Braun and Ochai Agbaji have helped their.
To classify: Freshman To classify: Freshman To classify: Freshman To classify: Freshman At times defensively he’s been beaten at the block for position and lacks the lateral quickness to keep players in front of him as they come down. Cade Cunningham is a phenomenal passer and playmaker for his teammates, and Banchero ranks in the 88th percentile, averaging 1.4 points per possession, when chopping the ball, according to Synergy Sports. To classify: Freshman He has wide spacing on the court and is very versatile on offense, leading the SEC in 3-point shooting percentage at 42%. To classify: Freshman Although Holmgren’s tournament performance has drawn mixed reviews around the league — 19 points, 17 rebounds and seven blocks against Georgia State, and nine points and nine rebounds before a foul against Memphis — his versatility is undeniable and will be hard to pass up. To classify: Freshman The NBA Draft is three months away, and many of who becomes No. 1 will depend on the needs of the team.
A dive into the ten best prospects in the 2022 NBA Draft, per InsideTheThunder.com's Derek Parker.
Weaknesses: His shooting numbers aren’t there, and his shot isn’t a thing of beauty. He’s not as athletic as someone of his archetype should be, and is a bit overzealous when defending sometimes. Weaknesses: Griffin doesn’t quite have the fluidity and naturalness of some of the other scorers in the draft. He’s crafty enough to get to his spots, and has a mixed bag of tricks at all three levels. Griffin projects to be a good defender via his frame and strength. Despite having the physical tools to be a good defender, the effort and consistency is often not there. Weaknesses: Wholly inconsistent on both ends of the floor, Mathurin is both a streaky scorer and defender. Weaknesses: Smith has little to no creativity with the ball in his hands. His craftiness in the midrange will get him good looks, and his shooting has steadily improved, and with a solid rotation it’s hard to not see it sticking around. He’s explosive, creative and has fine enough decision-making to project as a No. 1 or 2 on nearly any team near the bottom of the standings. Regardless of varying worries, he’ll project to at least be a stretch shooter in the pros. Strengths: There’s no timeline where Ivey isn’t at least a good scorer in the NBA. He’s as explosive around the rim as they come.
With the NCAA Tournament behind us, which prospects boosted their value with a strong showing during March Madness?
He has a quick and powerful burst when he attacks the basket and he also knocked down a pair of clutch 3s. Koloko has the agility and athleticism to hold his own on switches at the NBA level and he's still growing his offensive game. But he is physical inside, he has shown some signs of a perimeter shooting touch and he's a great rim protector. Brown slides down the draft board after a couple of rough outings in the Big 12 and NCAA tournaments. He's a capable passer off the bounce, making him a pick-and-roll threat, but he has a tendency to force it and turn the ball over at times. His length (with a reported 7-foot wingspan) and versatility allow him to defend both bigs and wings and he has quick hands and good instincts to come up with blocks. He shot the 3-ball consistently during tournament play and was a pesky defender, raising his draft stock considerably. He showed his ability to knock down tough shots and score from all three levels of the floor in Wisconsin's first-round win over Colgate, but he did go ice cold in the second round against Iowa State. Even with a poor shooting night, Davis still impacted the game with his relentless motor and defensive intensity, two things that make him so appealing at the NBA level. Mathurin had one of the best individual games of March Madness with his 30-point performance in an overtime win over TCU. He was the fastest and most explosive player on the floor, blowing by defenders to attack the basket. He has proved to be a long and versatile defender who can comfortably guard four positions and his ability to score from all three levels of the floor, on or off the ball, makes him a plug-and-play player in the NBA. Even with a poor shooting night in Purdue's elimination game to Saint Peter's, Ivey still knocked down 37.5 percent of his 16 3-point attempts in the tournament and proved he's comfortable taking midrange jumpers, too. He was dominant on the glass as well, recording two double-doubles while coming up just one point and one rebound shy of a third against Memphis. Holmgren also flashed some confidence as a ball-handler and knocked down a couple of jumpers that made you see why he's in consideration for the top pick.
