With less than four minutes go, officials paused the NCAA Tournament title game when Puff Johnson went to the ground, unable to catch his breath.

With less than four minutes remaining, officials paused the game when a suddenly exhausted Johnson went to the ground on his hands and knees. The sophomore from Moon Township, Pennsylvania, vomited on the court and was helped off. He was the lone Tar Heel coach Hubert Davis substituted off the bench in a six-man rotation.

North Carolina freshman forward Puff Johnson, the younger brother of the Suns' Cam Johnson, had a breakout performance in the NCAA title game.

He went down and had to check out of the game before checking in for the last two possessions of the game. He then racked up nine of his 11 points in the second half. Johnson had only scored 47 total points entering the NCAA Tournament before a breakout performance in the title game.

Here are three things to know about North Carolina men's basketball guard Puff Johnson, whose hometown is Moon Township, Pennsylvania.

"Because a lot of people — a lot of people who I grew up with — would kill to be a player at North Carolina. So, that’s the way I saw it. Puff Johnson suffered a toe injury on his right foot in January 2021. "When I first walked onto the court, I got a standing ovation. Until that day, I hadn’t checked into a game for 360 days," Puff Johnson said to the Beaver County Times of his return in January 2022. In 2018-19 at UNC, he earned All-ACC first team and All-ACC Tournament first team honors. "Even though I’m getting hurt or even though I was getting hurt at the time, I was still really grateful that I have the opportunity that I have," Johnson said.
