Retired wide receiver Julian Edelman had some fun at Patriots fans' expense Friday on social media...
I don't need the money," Edelman said last October on Barstool Sports' "Call Him Papi" podcast. I have too much respect for the sport as an art." Brady has attempted to lure Edelman to the Bucs on a few occasions since his favorite Patriots target retired in April 2021 and made a not-so-subtle overture to Edelman just two weeks ago.

The former Patriots receiver has been retired since last April.
Speculation swirled about a possible move to Tampa Bay shortly after Edelman’s retirement. Not to mention, Friday is not the first time this intriguing rumor has surfaced. The “reported signing” of Julian Edelman, however, does not fall under that category.
But, there's been a slight fear that he would join Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brady has joked in the past about Edelman joining ...
A couple weeks ago, Brady posted a video of him and Edelman throwing and getting a workout in. Edelman continues to feed into it and he did so with the perfect April Fool’s joke — announcing he signed with the Buccaneers. Gronkowski replied to it with the hopes Edelman was making a return to the NFL and it brought the idea back to life.
Former Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman tried to fool Buccaneers fans with his post on Twitter this Friday.
If he ever decides to return to the gridiron, it wouldn’t surprise us to see him reunite with Brady and Gronkowski. Earlier this year, Tom Brady shared a video of his workout with Edelman. It was such an intriguing video that Rob Gronkowski actually replied to it. Although there are plenty of fans who would like to see this pairing, Edelman is simply celebrating April Fool’s Day.
BOSTON (CBS) — A couple of weeks ago, Julian Edelman teased Patriots fans a little bit. On April Fools' Day, the man went all in. Edelman shot out a graphic ...
And he retired due to a knee injury, one that limited him to just six games in 2020. As he approaches his 36th birthday, a miracle fix of that knee sadly remains unlikely. In that graphic, it is announced that he is joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Since retiring from his on-field time, Edelman has moved into the analyst chair as a member of “Inside the NFL” on Paramount Plus where he has had more time to showcase his best Bill Belichick impression. Former Tom Brady teammate Julian Edelman tweets out post saying he is signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on April Fools Day.
We'd expect to see Tom Brady jump onto this one soon knowing their relationship and liking to joke around on social media together, teasing fans. There is no better way for Edelman to tease NFL fans, especially Bucs' fans, than posting the graphic that the main NFL Twitter page uses to prank them on April Fools. The NFL Twitter page even got in on the joke a bit themselves. Edelman and Brady have had many interactions on Twitter hinting at the wide receiver un-retiring and coming back to play with Brady. It has always been a running joke between the two as it never seemed likely that Edelman would actually come out of retirement.
The former Patriots receiver posted a false report as an April Fool's day joke.
Speculation lingered even after Edelman retired during the 2021 offseason due to injury concerns. That speculation saw a minor uptick last month when Brady posted a video featuring Edelman -- in cleats and gloves -- running routes and catching passes.Edelman has maintained that he could still play at the NFL level, but sees no reason to needlessly extend his career.Since retiring, Edelman has made a successful jump to the media side of things, settling into a role as an NFL analyst on Showtime’s “Inside the NFL.” That was the case Friday for former New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman, who posted a joke “report” on his social media channels that he was signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, writing “Onto the next chapter,” with a pirate-flag emoji. It all looks legit, until you look at the lower right-hand corner of the photo, which has “april fools” written in small font. The Twitter gag plays off of the long-running speculation that Edelman could join Tom Brady with the Buccaneers, especially after former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski did the same.
