Definitely apologized to the guys and said I was going to give it all I had tonight and I was able to make a couple of shots." LaVine grabbed the game ball to present to DeRozan in the locker room, where there was more water spray. His sources are not known to the Bulls and he has no special access to information beyond the access and privileges that go along with being an NBA accredited member of the media. So Donovan went to Williams. Before the game, Donovan said Lonzo Ball was going back to "ramping up" his recovery from knee surgery after a 10-day hiatus. And perhaps not thinking some, joked DeRozan after hearing that Williams volunteered to media he was late for the Thursday morning shootaround film session. "DeMar is unbelievable," said Donovan. "After the game he says to me. And in the second half our guys fought and got back into the game. Green fumbled the pass, but as it popped into the air LaVine grabbed it and laid in the ball to give DeRozan those chances with George making free throws on intentional fouls. But this George was also mischievously too curious, landing under DeRozan. So three free throws for, amazingly, a chance for the Bulls to win the game with 3.5 seconds left and one of the league's best free throw shooters on the foul line. It turned for the Bulls and DeRozan Thursday only just enough in perhaps stealing a game they trailed throughout, including by 16 points late in the third quarter and by 11 at 107-96 with just under five minutes remaining. "That felt like a bomb went off inside my head," DeRozan said about the missed free throw, which left him with 40 points in regulation. "I sealed him and felt him push on me; to me it was a good (call)."
Chicago trailed for the final 46 minutes of regulation and stared down a double-digit deficit but still pulled off a win over the Clippers.

He shot 17/26 from the field and absolutely tormented his hometown team which was expected coming into this game by many people. The Chicago Bulls after starting the season so well have recently found themselves in a slump which has been a big concern for them considering their ambitions this season. Just when the Bulls need a big performance, DeMar DeRozan has stepped up. His latest masterpiece was a 50-point performance.
The Bulls, to many, seem like one of the weaker teams in the playoffs. DeRozan has spent this season challenging Michael Jordan in the Bulls’ history books. Just when the Chicago Bulls need a big performance, DeMar DeRozan has stepped up.

Ridder is not inaccurate to a degree that disqualifies him, but his placement is not always as clean as that of his peers. With the middle of the field open again, Ridder just needs to see if either safety (more likely the one on the right hash) flies to the middle of the field before the ball is out. By his second-to-last step, Ridder knows the boundary safety (lined up on the "field goal range" line at the snap, toward the bottom of the screen) is staying high in a "Cloud" deep-third and the middle of the field safety (the other defender on the "field goal range line") is staying put. He is always willing to push the ball down the field at the slightest inclination that a safety may be out of position. Ridder navigates the pocket with such grace and efficiency that his pocket insistence is still a net positive, but there will be moments where he takes a sack trying to cycle to his fourth read rather than abandoning a broken play. SMU is in a two-high shell pre-snap, which means the middle of the field is "open." To Ridder, that means it's time to rip something down the field between the numbers. As the play gets rolling, SMU's boundary safety to the right side starts to gain depth and width, signaling that side of the coverage is in a Cover-2 call. By the time the ball is out, Ridder is about a yard outside the 21- to 22-yard line area. On almost every snap, Ridder is confident that he is getting to the right target over the middle and will fire passes in without second-guessing. Ridder finishes his drop at the 20-yard line with his feet in the middle of the left hashmarks. He is reading out the play left to right with his feet and shoulders aimed down the middle throughout most of his drop. As a pure pocket passer, above the shoulders, Ridder is in a tier of his own right now.
DeMar DeRozan did everything he could to carry the Chicago Bulls to a much-needed victory.
He then played by far a season-high 36:49 in his seventh game back after being sidelined since late October because of torn ligaments in his left wrist. Los Angeles was leading 118-115 with seven seconds left in regulation when Terance Mann got called for a foul away from the ball on an inbounds play following a timeout. Jackson nailed a 3 to cut it to 133-130 with five seconds left. Ball had surgery in January to repair a torn meniscus. Chicago led by four in overtime when Luke Kennard hit a 3 for Los Angeles with 1:12 left. He is the first Bulls player to do it since Derrick Rose had 2,026 points in his 2010-11 MVP season. Bulls: DeRozan has 2,019 points, the second time he's scored 2,000 in a season. Chicago, which led the Eastern Conference for a large portion of the season, moved a half-game ahead of sixth-place Toronto with five remaining. That's when he missed the potential go-ahead free throw after making his first two to tie it. "It felt like a bomb went off inside my head," he said. DeRozan finished two points shy of his career high. "They picked their defensive intensity up," he said.

After stringing together by far his best performance of the season, Patrick Williams had a confession.
Not only is it a bit surprising for a player to be this open, but it’s true that sometimes things like this can be better handled behind the scenes. While I commend Williams for sharing part of the reason why he felt eager to step up, the last thing he or the team wants is for it to negatively impact how people perceive him. The fact Williams fessed up in front of reporters after the game felt like a closer look into his character. I had missed some of the film session, so I feel like I had let the guys down, so tonight I wanted to come out here and give it my all. Then, at the same time, you turn into a joke, but you definitely get on him. At this point in the season, we can’t afford to have guys late to shoot around, things like that.

The oath he appears to have made with the clutch gods has officially put him over the 2000-point threshold this season, and it’s only the second time he’s met that mark in his career. Instead, he walked off the floor apologizing, letting his head coach know the game should have never needed an extra 5 minutes. Not only is that the most in the NBA, but it’s 104 more points than the next closest player in two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. His 54.9 percent field goal percentage is the second-highest among players who have scored at least 300 pts this season in the final frame. “I’m like, ‘DeMar, we wouldn’t have been in overtime if it wasn’t for the things you did.’ He was great.” As a whole, the Chicago Bulls finished the game on a 39-23 run en route to an absurdly clutch 135-130 victory.
