When is the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix? Date, track information and ... (Motorsport.com, Edition: Global)

Formula 1 is heading to Las Vegas for the first time in forty years, but when is the race, what will the track look like, and why is it a night race?

It will be known as the Las Vegas Grand Prix. F1 will be eager to contribute to this moving forward as it incorporates the iconic landmarks and neon signs of Las Vegas for a global spectacle. Las Vegas also ticks all of the boxes for F1 when it comes to a host city for a race. The race is due to start at 10pm local time in Las Vegas. The inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix will be taking place in November 2023. It was called the Caesars Palace Grand Prix as a result.

Saturday 10pm start for Las Vegas GP is 'perfect time', says F1 (autosport.com)

Formula 1 boss Stefano Domenicali believes holding the Las Vegas Grand Prix on a Saturday night is the “perfect time” and will attract fans across the ...

“To have a race on Saturday at 3pm, that would be a total mistake. The race will take place on a Saturday night, making it the first Saturday grand prix since South Africa in 1985 and breaking with the traditional Sunday format. “I don’t see any problem on that.

Las Vegas, Nevada – Entertainment Capital of the World. It's a city known for excitement, glitz, glamour – and as of 2023, the newest race location on the ...

Or maybe grab a ticket to one of the huge shows, whether it’s magic with Penn and Teller, a seat at Cirque du Soleil or one of the many A-list residencies scattered across the city. The Las Vegas Grand Prix will be an event. On your right is the decadent Caesars Palace, whose former car park hosted the two previous editions of F1 in Las Vegas but now houses a shopping mall and the Mirage Hotel, dominating the skyline. There’s just so many terraces, extravagant suites, swimming pool decks and bar balconies to recline on which also boast an impeccable view of the circuit. We then indicate left, taking the turn that that quartet and the rest of the field will take onto the Strip. The enormity of the hotels that line the Strip quickly becomes apparent. There are eight lanes on the Strip – split down the middle by a tree-lined central reservations – and it’s heaving, mostly with taxis, classic cars and modern convertibles. Then the Bellagio – with its iconic fountains that dance to music every 15 minutes through the evening – bursts into view. And what better way to see iconic city than in a beautiful blue Big Finned Cadillac. Floating around the city, I felt like a rockstar. Las Vegas is all about the superlatives. F1 Correspondent Lawrence Barretto headed to the desert city ahead of the announcement to check out what we have in store. Heading out of the hotel onto the famous Strip – which for the first time in history will be part of a Formula 1 racetrack in Las Vegas – after sunset you’re struck by just how different the place looks at night. I think of an ‘anything is possible’ attitude, swimming pool-size buffets and a city that is more American than a Banana Split.

Viva Las Vegas: F1 adds Strip as it expands to 3 US stops (ABC News)

It's been 40 years since Formula One last ventured into Sin City for back-to-back Las Vegas races staged in the parking lot of the Caesars Palace hotel.

But it has to be real, (the driver) has to be quick, because otherwise it would not work. “It's important, but it has to be real,” Domenicali told AP. “People are making a difference, they are the protaganist. F1 won't admit a team owner just to further its growth in the U.S. Haas has refused to sell and through the first two races appears to be a much improved team. Gene Haas was forced to drop both his Russian driver and the sponsorship Nikita Mazepin brought from his father's fertilizer company following Russia's invasion of Ukraine two weeks before the season opened. F1 will promote the event alongside Liberty, which is taking on the additional role because of its belief in the market. Formula One has huge momentum and we are growing around the world and the United States is a massive focus for us, there is no doubt about it.” Andretti has since applied for expansion to the 10-team grid. The American company has since targeted U.S. expansion and received a massive boost from the Netflix docuseries “Drive To Survive.” ESPN, meanwhile, said viewership for Sunday’s race in Saudi Arabia broke the week-old record for the network and was ESPN’s largest F1 audience since 1995. Then came new ownership, slick marketing, a Netflix docuseries and a historic championship battle that all helped F1 explode in popularity throughout the United States. But the open-wheel series has never challenged F1, even as European drivers are now migrating to IndyCar.

There's certainly been a lot of growth and I honestly see that most in America," McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo said in October, while his teammate Lando Norris said: "I think it's a cool thing. "There is no better place for Formula One to race than in the global entertainment capital of the world and we cannot wait to be here next year." "This is an incredible moment for Formula One that demonstrates the huge appeal and growth of our sport with a third race in the US," said F1 president and CEO Greg Maffei.

They will then take Turn 10 flat out, before hitting a top speed of around 212 miles-per-hour on the approach to the heavy braking zone at Turn 11, where most overtaking is likely to occur. From there, drivers will face a series of high-speed corners including a long left-hander at Turn 6 at the north-west trip of the track.
