According to research from Media Matters for America, a progressive watchdog organization, Fox News has mentioned the Disney matter on air at least 250 times since Wednesday morning. Jenner is expected to appear on Fox News’ “Hannity” on Thursday evening. “Caitlyn’s story is an inspiration to us all.

A major punching bag lately has been the Walt Disney Corporation, which everyone from Tucker Carlson to Laura Ingraham has been hammering as not only too woke, but pushing an explicit sexual agenda on children, because it opposed ( after much hand-wringing) Florida’s new “Don’t Say Gay” legislation.

Despite her being frequently referred to as an “activist” for trans rights, Jenner has made a habit of backing various pieces of anti-trans legislatio, most recently expressing support for bills that ban trans kids from participating in school sports. “She is a trailblazer in the LGBTQ+ community and her illustrious career spans a variety of fields that will be a tremendous asset for our audience.” It was sort of inevitable that Jenner would find her way to political punditry.

Former reality star and Olympic decathlete Caitlyn Jenner will offer commentary and analysis across Fox News and its various media platforms.

Jenner has remained a prominent voice on Twitter, advocated for the transgender community through her Caitlyn Jenner Foundation and called for federal legislation protecting women’s sports. When launching her campaign bid as a Republican in April 2021, the outspoken star said she planned to take on entrenched Sacramento politicians and the special interests that fund them. The “I Am Cait” alum ultimately lost the recall bid, drawing only about 1% of voters last fall.

Jenner, 72, became an American icon at the 1976 Summer Olympics by winning the men’s decathlon, but largely connected with later generations through a starring role on the reality TV series Keeping Up With the Kardashians, starting in 2007. Jenner announced in 2015 she was starting her gender transition and divorcing her wife, Kris. In the years since, Jenner has become an outspoken advocate for transgender rights, and slammed former President Donald Trump shortly after he took office, with Jenner calling Trump’s restrictions affecting transgender individuals “a disaster.” Despite the break with Trump, Jenner has remained a Republican. She notably said at an event in 2016 that she found it “harder to come out as a Republican” than as transgender. Reality TV star and former Republican California gubernatorial candidate Caitlyn Jenner is joining Fox News as a contributor, according to network CEO Suzanne Scott, who said the signing of “a trailblazer in the LGBTQ+ community” will be a valuable addition to the conservative news outlet.

Though the Fox News press release cites Jenner as using "her platform as the most famous transgender woman in the world to better the lives of the trans community," many in the LGBTQ+ community have criticized her conservative stances on queer issues — particularly gay marriage, as she made headlines for sparring with Ellen DeGeneres over the issue during a 2015 interview on the latter's talk show. Fox made the announcement on International Transgender Day of Visibility, as Jenner famously came out as a trans woman in April 2015. "I am humbled by this unique opportunity to speak directly to Fox News Media's millions of viewers about a range of issues that are important to the American people," Jenner said in a statement.

Fox News Channel says it has hired Caitlyn Jenner as a contributor, with her first appearance set for Thursday on Sean Hannity's program.

"I’m a common sense person and that’s what you call common sense," she said, noting she helped raised 10 kids and has 20 grandchildren. Hannity went on to talk about the new Florida law, signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis earlier in the week, that forbids instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third grade. She noted that being a patriot is one of those things.

Sean Hannity asked Caitlyn Jenner to agree with Florida's anti-LGBTQ+ bill. She obliged.

Jenner did receive a warm welcome from Fox personalities Tammy Bruce and Tomi Lahren. Lahren tweeted, “Proud to welcome [Jenner] to the Fox News family. Jenner has always straddled a strange position in the GOP; an extremely wealthy, longtime Republican in Hollywood, who came out as transgender in 2015, Jenner has said that “It was easy to come out as trans. In Texas, the governor deemed gender-affirming care as “child abuse,” targeting the parents of trans minors who do receive such care. I grew up that way and I want that to continue,” Jenner said, trying to take the focus off the litany of anti-transgender bills that Republicans are passing (though she did concede LGBTQ+ issues will likely play an outsized role in the 2022 midterms). Hannity ended the segment asking her to agree with Florida’s new “Don't Say Gay” law by spinning it as a way for U. S. educators to focus on “math, science, English” proficiency scores instead of a “woke” agenda. Those tensions were captured Thursday night, as Hannity welcomed Jenner to the Fox family with a clip of Florida governor Ron DeSantis lashing out at Disney employees for protesting recent anti-LGBTQ+ legislation in Florida. Jenner spent the majority of her spot telling the audience that being transgender was only “one part” of her life, reiterating that she’s a “patriot,” before calling herself a “common sense person” and reminding everyone that she helped raise 10 kids and has 20 grandchildren. “Caitlyn Jenner on Fox... so now the cattle can say they are not transphobic,” tweeted Beattie, a previous Tucker Carlson Tonight guest.

The announcement that Jenner will join Fox as an official commentator faced a backlash from the trans and non-binary community.

Talking with Hannity in her first appearance as a contributor to the program on Thursday, Jenner said: "As you know, I am trans but I'm not a trans activist. The irony of the left and the WOKE never ceases to astound me," she tweeted. Fox News host Tucker Carlson suggested Disney was supporting the "chemical castration" of children. "More so the hypocrisy than the irony continues to astound me." That's why I oppose biological boys who are trans competing in girls' sports in school. There's so much more to me."
