Kyzir White is a New Jersey native who grew up in Allentown, PA and has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in NFL free agency.
White was drafted by the Chargers in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft and immediately moved to linebacker. White does not have the prototypical linebacker size, but he more than makes up for it when it comes to play recognition, his tackling, and how he’ll fit Jonathan Gannon’s scheme. Ka’Raun White caught 124 passes for 1,852 yards and 17 touchdowns during his West Virginia career.
Though he's yet to officially don a midnight green uniform, Kyzir White's fandom for the Philadelphia Eagles runs a whole lot deeper than his new contract.
I’d rather have White stoked out of his mind to choose Philly over other options than have a hole on the depth chart heading into the draft with no guarantee that Howie Roseman will draft a linebacker at 15, 16, or 19. Well, apparently not, as White appears hyped to put his home-ish town team’s name on his back and prove that 2021 was just the start of something bigger, not a statistical aberration. If all White brought to the table was a resume headlined by a really good season 2021 season under Brandon Staley, I think most fans would be overjoyed by his addition.
White last season tallied 144 tackles, which ranked eighth most in the NFL.
Considering White’s short-term deal, the Eagles could still add more depth to the position in the upcoming NFL draft. Newly acquired pass rusher Haason Reddick is also listed as a linebacker on the team’s website. White, 26, was a 2018 fourth-round pick out of West Virginia. He has spent all four seasons with the Chargers, and is coming off a career-best 2021.
Fixated on acquiring leading tacklers from bad defenses, the Eagles signed free agent Kyzir White Saturday. White (6-foot-2, 216 pounds) racked up 144 ...
Re-signing Cox to a one-year $14 million contract, as the Eagles did. There’s been talk that the Eagles turned down an offer of two third-day draft picks for Cox before the last trade deadline. Actions speak louder than words, however, and the Eagles clearly downshifted into a running offense last season because they weren’t comfortable with Hurts throwing the ball. Pickett is the consensus top pick in the draft despite hands that measure 8 5/8 inches, small by NFL standards and even a notch below those of Joe Burrow (9 inches), the first pick in the 2020 draft. The Eagles have White, T.J. Edwards, Davion Taylor, Shaun Bradley at linebacker. The Eagles cut him after seven games.
Kyzir White has left the LA Chargers as he has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. ...
If Lloyd is still available at 17, do not be surprised if Tom Telesco pulls the trigger. Lloyd has set himself up nicely after a stellar senior season where he led the University of Utah to their first Pac-12 Championship along with an appearance at the Rose Bowl. The Chula Vista native was a playmaker all season recording 66 solo tackles along with 8 sacks and 4 interceptions.
The Emmaus, Pennsylvania, native spent the first four years of his career with the Chargers. Only 26 years old, White adds depth to the linebacker corps.
But White is an intriguing player who began his career with the Chargers as a WILL (weakside) linebacker in a 4-3 front and then transitioned inside in the 3-4 front Los Angeles employed last season. White is here to prove something to the team and to the NFL. A safety in his college days at West Virginia, White is one of seven siblings, three of whom reached the NFL (Kevin and Ka'Raun are former wide receivers).
