Following a disappointing 2020 campaign, senior guard Brad Davison decided to utilize his extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 ...
UW was going to feature a roster with the average age of just 19.5 years old, and 12 members would be underclassmen. Davison’s mere presence on the floor and ability to offer guidance both on the court and in the locker room proved invaluable all season. The team he was returning to was going to be vastly different from the senior-laden roster he played with the previous season.
It's a day that seemed like it would never arrive, but Brad Davison has played his final game for Wisconsin Basketball. Thank you, Brad.
It’s hard not to root for a player that plays the way that Davison did the last five years. So, if you’re Brad Davison and you’re reading this, thank you for all that you gave us during the last five years. No matter how you view Davison as a player, there is no denying that the person that he is, is not comparable to very many people. Few people brought more to the Wisconsin Men’s Basketball team than Brad Davison and that is what made him so special to us. There are numerous examples of Davison being a good person off of the court. It’s easy to tell that Davison has plans on being a coach with how he conducted himself on the court.
Badgers will have to depend on several players blossoming in the offseason and they'll likely pursue a transfer or two to bolster the roster.
“From the start of the season he has grown tremendously, and he is a tough cover down in the post,” Crowl said. They had a lot of good from the guys in front of them. “Offseasons are big for everybody,” he said. “He is a bouncy athlete. That is what the grind is about. He was an outstanding scorer in high school but made just 1 of 22 three-pointers this season. Shooting guard Luke Haertle, who led Lake Country Lutheran to a WIAA Division 3 state title, is joining the program as a preferred walk-on. The staff believes his shooting ability can bolster the offense, but whether he will be ready to contribute immediately won’t be known for months. Crowl is a skilled big man but he needs to increase his strength. Wahl developed into a versatile performer on both ends of the court as a junior. Hepburn showed poise as well as mental and physical toughness as a freshman. Sophomore Johnny Davis, a consensus All-American, said after the loss he isn’t thinking about the future.
An entertaining season ended earlier than fans would've liked when No. 3 seed Wisconsin exited the NCAA Tournament with an ugly 54-49 loss to No.
Wisconsin found itself in plenty of close games this season and played very well late in crunch time. Prior to Sunday’s game, Hepburn turned the ball over twice in the previous 4 games averaging 33.5 minutes per game during that span. Davis did not make any announcement on his future following Sunday’s loss, but if NBA mock drafts are to be believed, it’s hard to imagine seeing him with the Badgers next season. The Badgers were completely out of rhythm offensively without their starting point guard, making just 2-of-22 3-point attempts and committing a season-high 17 turnovers. Wisconsin lost 3 of its final 4 games to close out its season, but the Badgers finished 25-8 and far exceeded anybody’s preseason expectations. None of Wisconsin’s reserve players proved to be much of a threat throughout the season, and that became a major problem when Chucky Hepburn went down with an injury in the first half of Sunday’s 2nd-round matchup.
University of Wisconsin men's basketball coach Greg Gard says a 54-49 loss to Iowa State on Sunday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament is hard to swallow ...
He made a program-record eight 3-pointers in a win at Nebraska and hit a clutch 3-pointer late in a 60-56 win at Indiana that helped UW clinch a share of the Big Ten title. “I was just taking a moment to look around at all the red and to be on the floor in the arena with the jersey on.” “I hope basketball’s not the first thing that people think about when they think of me,” Davison said.
After an amazing season in which they seemed to defy all the odds, the Wisconsin Badgers fell to the Iowa State Cyclones in March Madness' round of 32, ...
After this, the Badgers failed to regain the momentum for the remainder of the game. In the final game of his college career, Brad Davison scored 12 points on 3-7 shooting from the field. With this being the last game for both Johnny Davis and Brad Davison, the Badgers look to come back next season with a new look and an even better result. The lack of scoring costed the Badgers the game and ultimately their season. One of the biggest moments of the game came on a basket that never happened with eight minutes left in the second half. The tide of the game shifted when true freshman point guard Chucky Hepburn went down with an ankle injury late in the first half.
MADISON, Wis. -- With Wisconsin's season coming to a close on Sunday, it's time for our way-too-early look at the 2022-23 Badgers. Losing their two leading ...
Based on some of the names I've heard that may/will be available in the transfer portal, I think it can and will be addressed. I know he didn't finish the season that well, but the 7-footer is still a baby deer and developing. Neath is limited offensively, but thought he was terrific defensively at times, especially against Iowa State's Tyrese Hunter. Carlson has the potential to be an outstanding rebounder and a guy who can get you second chance opportunities. It's next to impossible to say because almost everyone's roster is going to be reshaped by the transfer portal, but I believe Wisconsin still has enough without Davis, Davison, and Vogt to be competitive. However, based on the current roster, there's likely not a quick fix and it's tough to say a team that was one of the worst in the country in 3-point field goal percentage (30.6%) and 3-pointers made per game (6.5) can get better. If he's a star and at least flirting with first-team All-Big Ten honors, that changes the outlook drastically, in my opinion. Having watched Hepburn for nearly three years, he's at his best when he's in full control of a team. He's a bully down on the block and has shown the ability over four years to score around the rim against size and athletes. He's also gotta be able to score as a face-up threat in the mid-range, sizing guys up and taking them off the dribble and negating the opposition's ability to double him. The rumblings through the grapevine are that there should be a nice crop of prospects for UW to get involved with. Think his bread and butter at the next level will be his ability to post up and score in the mid-range. The addition of Chris Vogt was a home run in some aspects.

It meant they had to share the title with Illinois and became the No. 2 seed in the Big Ten Tournament. Chucky Hepburn banked in a 3-pointer with less than two seconds to go to secure the 70-67 win. It went 2-1 against the other top two teams in the conference and lost to the worst team in the league (Nebraska) with a chance to win the regular-season title outright on the line. But it was the win over then-No. 12 Houston in the semifinals where Davis started to garner national attention. Seven players left the program and six joined in the offseason. The Badgers led by at least 20 points in seven games this season, winning all of them, but the last five they won by an average of 5.8 points.

Wisconsin also saw Chucky Hepburn go down with an injury in the first half and not return. "Obviously not the way we envisioned it ending in terms of the season," Gard said.
