Arizona women’s basketball tries to extend the college career of Sam Thomas against North Carolina (unknown)

Basketball is a team game, but there are some players who come through who embody that team and everything it stands for. Sam Thomas has been that player ...

They’re tough, they’re physical and we are going to have to do that in order to win the game. Dropping to the No. 4 seed due to several losses at the end of the season means that Arizona has to get by the fifth-seeded Tar Heels in the second round. One thing the Wildcats will need to do better against the Tar Heels than they did against UNLV is rebound. Ustby leads the team in rebounding as a guard. Now, the Arizona Wildcats need to defeat a tough North Carolina squad to extend her time in cardinal and navy. Basketball is a team game, but there are some players who come through who embody that team and everything it stands for.

NBA and college basketball must align rules for better refereeing (unknown)

Basketball referees are universally loathed. They are harassed by players, booed by fans and exposed by instant replay. They have one of the hardest jobs in ...

That would make a powerful statement to the rest of the basketball world. In real time, we all saw the end of the Super Bowl and the mugging that occurred at midcourt. I want Arizona to win an NCAA Tournament, just like I want the Suns to win the NBA Finals. Predictably, the reaction from some Wildcats fans is commensurate to the inferiority complex that permeates much of the campus and the city of Tucson. They are bristling with indignation and what-about-isms. Especially with new reports that the scoreboard operator in San Diego momentarily stopped the clock, assuming a whistle was forthcoming after Terry’s apparent foul. Basketball officials promptly announced their shortcomings in the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament, losing control of Baylor vs.

The Arizona Wildcats were eliminated by UNC on their home floor in the second round of the NCAA Women's Tournament on Monday in Tucson.

North Carolina closed the first half on a 15-2 run, capped by Kelly’s three-point play, to stretch the lead to 47-27. The Tar Heels weathered the early burst — the Wildcats cut the lead to seven — and pushed back. “Our coaches said to build a wall before this game and that’s exactly what we did,” said Todd-Williams, who had seven rebounds and five assists. North Carolina went on a 15-0 run to lead by nine at halftime, then stretched it 20 with a dominating third quarter. “Led by Deja, they really had to take a chance with the program in a bit of turmoil. We had to kind of piece it together because it’s early in our rebirth and these guys worked really hard.”

Arizona Women’s Basketball prepares for talented UNC squad (unknown)

After surviving against UNLV, Arizona Women's Basketball (21-7, 10-6) takes on North Carolina in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Head Coach: Courtney Banghart enters her 3rd season with the Tarheels, having compiled a 53–31 (28–25) record so far. Against North Carolina, the challenge should be even greater. Luckily, Arizona got a healthy Cate Reese back against UNLV, and she was a big part of that teams’ 72-67 win. Coming into this matchup, the Wildcats and Tar Heels are considered an even matchup. The men play in March Madness as the seniors of the 2022 class have experienced it all on the basketball side but this team has come at just the right time for them. If you are a senior now, you’ve experienced the worst media coverage and fallout of Arizona basketball in its history, which makes the 2022 NCAA Tournament all the more rewarding. The class of 2022 has had to deal with not only the off-the-court issues and the volatile media coverage that has come with it, but also the on-court product being mired in mediocrity. Arizona player, Justin Kier, swings the net around after cutting it down to commemorate the Wildcats' PAC-12 regular-season title. Olson established a winning basketball culture and while Miller did his fair share to uphold that, the off-the-court issues were just too much to ignore, even if it’s hard to sift through what was true and not true. TCU stays above controversy of end-of-regulation no-call vs. Arizona (unknown)

The TCU Horned Frogs had reason to gripe Sunday after an overtime loss to the Arizona Wildcats in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

But you know what, there was nothing wrong with that going to overtime and having to play another five minutes and find a way.” Dalen was at the top of the key with a second to go. What the heck, 10 seconds to go in the game, let’s throw a trap on him and see what happens. I was scared when Coach asked us … because I knew he was going to try to get at me and try to get a foul,” Koloko said. That’s what we wanted to do and it worked.” And we wanted to trap him.
