The Mandalorian casting Christopher Lloyd is in keeping with the Jon Favreau-led series tendency to cast comedic actors. While the part that Christopher Lloyd will be playing is being kept tightly under wraps by Disney, it fits with the trend of the show thus far. The show has reportedly been filming since October 2021, and is expected to land on Disney+ sometime in 2022.

There’s no release date yet for season 3, but we look forward to seeing Lloyd as a quirky bantha trainer or moisture farmer. At 83, Lloyd continues his prolific work, most recently appearing in George Clooney’s The Tender Bar. Little is known about the plot of season 3 of The Mandalorian, but fans got a taste of what to expect from The Book of Boba Fett. The spinoff series spent nearly half its runtime on Mando struggling to move on after Luke Skywalker takes Grogu away for Jedi training.

Rarely do we see actors that have appeared in both “Star Trek” and “Star Wars” franchises, but given that Lucasfilm is developing multiple live-action shows and films at the same time, there is going to be franchise crossover at some point. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that veteran character actor Christopher Lloyd, who played the villainous Klingon Commander Kruge in “Star Trek III: The Search For Spock,” and of course, Dr. Emmett Brown in the beloved “Back To The Future” trilogy, is joining “The Mandalorian” in a mystery role.

Anakin became Darth Vader after he was rescued by Emperor Palpatine, and Kenobi went into hiding on Tatooine to watch over a young Luke Skywalker. The limited series will also feature Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse reprising their roles as Uncle Owen Lars and Aunt Beru, respectively. He’s also won two Emmy Awards for appearing as Jim Ignatowski in the comedy series “Taxi.” After two successful seasons, the spin-off show “The Book of Boba Fett” debuted in December 2021 and wrapped up earlier this year. Ewan McGregor will reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi from the prequel series.
