As Hoosiers, we know that we can see all sorts of weather throughout the course of a year, from heat to wind to ice to snow to severe storms.

The best precaution you can take is to be inside a secured structure with an automobile as your second alternative. It will alert you to any watches or warnings that are issued. It is critical for outdoor events that you wait 30 minutes after the last clap of thunder to resume what you were doing. If the watch was getting the ingredients together, the warning is the meal or the main event. Year after year, though, there seems to be confusion on the difference between a watch and a warning. The National Weather Service is the agency that issues watches, warnings, and advisories.

With such a volatile pattern on the horizon, meteorologists are providing an early heads up to these areas looking ahead to next week. Round two of severe thunderstorms will once again affect the southern tier Monday through Wednesday, and this is expected to be the more significant of the two rounds. The first batch of severe weather began to impact the Southeast on Friday and is expected to move toward the Mid-Atlantic on Saturday.

Tornado watch issued for Bay County as line of strong storms moves across area (unknown)

The National Weather Service has forecast severe weather for Bay County area today. There is a potential for tornadoes, large hail and damaging winds.

A couple of strong tornadoes are possible as storms move through the area. A line of strong to severe storms are moving east across the area into tonight. Isolated strong to severe storms could redevelop late tonight, according to Bowser, along a cold front with more storms possible on Saturday. The severe threat on Saturday appears lower than the threat Friday.

Looking ahead, it still appears as though we may be facing another severe weather threat by Tuesday of next week. Mornings will be a little chilly, but both afternoons should be nearly perfect, with a good deal of sunshine, and highs in the low to mid 70s.
