The Mimic Tear Ash, which is a go-to ash summon for folk who don't want to play fair with the bosses, has had its damage decreased and behavior pattern changed. Still, buffs dominate the changelist. Likewise, the Hoarfrost Stomp Ash of War—most notably used in Distortion2's Elden Ring speedruns—has had its damage decreased and cast time increased. There are also more summonable NPCs in "multiple situations," while the Mimic's Veil can now mimic a whole lot of new objects. It's hard to know where to start because the changes are numerous, but it looks like some Elden Ring quests widely considered to be broken may have been fixed. Elden Ring patch 1.03 is a massive one, with nerfs, buffs, questline fixes, new NPC summons, and heaps more.

Elden Ring's New Patch Makes Some Huge Changes (unknown)

Patch V.103 may make your life easier -- or much harder, depending on how you play Elden Ring.

The topline nerf is to the Mimic Tear Ash, which allows you to summon a replica of yourself to fight enemies. Then, as you'd expect from a patch, is a big list of bug fixes. You can now add icons on the map for non-playable characters (NPCs) you meet, which will make several quest lines easier.

Elden Ring update 1.03 patch notes nerf the best Ash summon (Shacknews)

The Mimic Tear Ash now does less damage while the Sword of Night and Flame has also received a balance pass.

That Ash is ridiculously OP. I played last night after updating to 1.03 and it's still powerful, just not "this is basically a cheat code" powerful. I only just discovered Hoarfrost Stomp a few days ago and they nerfed the damage! The most powerful Ash in the game (second only to Aurelia the Jellyfish), the Mimic Tear, has been nerfed. Unfortunately, with the good news comes the bad news. Let us know in the Chatty thread below! These Elden Ring patch notes come courtesy of Bandai Namco. Players may find that they have a new update to download next time they launch the game.
