Elden Ring Update Elden Ring Update

Elden Ring patch nerfs speedrunners’ favorite weapon ability (unknown)

Elden Ring's latest patch changes two abilities — Hoarfrost Stomp and Mimic Tear Ashes — making them deal significantly less damage.

It’s not yet known if the Hoarfrost Stomp nerf is significant enough for speedrunners to find an alternative or what that alternative could be. Distortion2, an Elden Ring speedrunner who beat the game in under 30 minutes, reacted to the news in a tweet. It summons a copy of the player that fights with the player’s own weapon, armor, and spells.

The Mimic Tear Ash, which is a go-to ash summon for folk who don't want to play fair with the bosses, has had its damage decreased and behavior pattern changed. Still, buffs dominate the changelist. Likewise, the Hoarfrost Stomp Ash of War—most notably used in Distortion2's Elden Ring speedruns—has had its damage decreased and cast time increased. There are also more summonable NPCs in "multiple situations," while the Mimic's Veil can now mimic a whole lot of new objects. It's hard to know where to start because the changes are numerous, but it looks like some Elden Ring quests widely considered to be broken may have been fixed. * Fixed a bug that prevented the user from warping to sites of grace from the map at the end of the game. If enemies are going to use every trick in the book, players should be able to as well. I was actually able to defeat a boss I had struggled with earlier and still used both abilities heavily. * Fixed a bug that causes the player to freeze when riding. Available now across all platforms, Elden Ring v1.03 decreases the damage done by Hoarfrost Stomp and increases its casting time. While the patch notes show it primarily improved your chances of surviving in the Lands Between, it also features two major nerfs for the already legendary Hoarfrost Stomp and Mimic Tear.

Elden Ring's New Patch Makes Some Huge Changes (unknown)

Patch V.103 may make your life easier -- or much harder, depending on how you play Elden Ring.

The topline nerf is to the Mimic Tear Ash, which allows you to summon a replica of yourself to fight enemies. Then, as you'd expect from a patch, is a big list of bug fixes. You can now add icons on the map for non-playable characters (NPCs) you meet, which will make several quest lines easier.
