Steelers get 'B' for Mitchell Trubisky signing, Eagles ace Haason Reddick deal (unknown)

Speaking of Brady, the Buccaneers locked up two of their top in-house free agents on Monday, as Tampa Bay is gearing up for another title run. Below are grades ...

The receiver and special teams stud returns to New York for a cool $12 million over two years. A Pro Bowler during his first season in Arizona, the Cardinals and Conner agreed to a well-deserved three-year, $21 million extension. Big Blue needs help on the offensive line, so they went out and acquired a player who helped Jonathan Taylor emerge as one of the NFL's top running backs. The defending champs were able to hang onto Allen to the reported tune of $24 million over three years. Ogunjobi recorded seven sacks before a foot injury led to him missing most of the Bengals' playoff run. They did so without breaking the bank, as Reddick comes to Philadelphia for a reported $45 million over three years. In Kirk, the Jaguars now have a 25-year-old receiver who appears to be coming into his own as a big-time player. Instead of hitting free agency, Noteboom returns to Los Angeles with a three-year, $47.5 deal. Jackson wasn't cheap (he will reportedly sign a five-year, $82.5 million deal), so the pressure for him to perform will be on. Jacksonville's big day included the signing of Scherff, a five-time Pro Bowler and the top-rated offensive lineman in free agency. Miami kept one of their top defensive players in Ogbah, who has collected 18 sacks over the past three seasons. Speaking of Brady, the Buccaneers locked up two of their top in-house free agents on Monday, as Tampa Bay is gearing up for another title run.

Let the dealing begin, mostly unofficial (unknown)

The NFL's “legal tampering period” in free agency began Monday with a slew of deals even as many teams released veterans to clear salary cap space before the ...

Scherff has been a dependable blocker when healthy in Washington. Oluokun led the Falcons with 192 tackles last season, and Fatukasi is a force against the run. He has 25 picks over the past four seasons, most in the league. “These decisions are always difficult, but we wish Jarvis well and we look forward to the day when he returns as a storied Browns alumnus.” Miami badly needs a reliable running back and gets one in Edmonds, who would have been a backup to Conner in Arizona. “We are excited to have Preston continue his career with the Packers,” general manger Brian Gutekunst said. Jacksonville, which has the first overall selection in the draft next month for the second straight year, got busy early.

Tracking NFL free agency signings, rumors, trades and more (unknown)

We're tracking the NFL offseason's free agency with every notable signing, all the latest rumors and nuggets and much more.

A source told ESPN that Marpet made the decision over concerns for his overall health. The Wagner move will save the Seahawks $16.6 million in cash and salary-cap space while leaving a massive hole in the middle of their defense. Sources told Schefter that Washington will pay the full $28 million due to Wentz for the 2022 season, including a $5 million roster bonus due next week. The Los Angeles Chargers and wide receiver Mike Williams have reached agreement on a multiyear deal, the team announced. Rodgers announced Tuesday on Twitter that he will return to the Packers for the 2022 season. The Detroit Lions have informed outside linebacker Trey Flowers that he will be released next week when the league year starts, a source told ESPN. In a tweet Thursday, Flowers wrote: "Truly grateful for the love and the lessons!!" The deal is worth $31.65 million with $17.5 million guaranteed, a source told ESPN. Ertz wanted to stay in Arizona and quickly received his wish, at $10.55 million per year. Releasing Saffold will save $10.4 million in salary-cap space for the Titans. He was set to hold a $12.8 million cap number this season if he wasn't released. The deal is for one year and will pay McCourty $9 million, a source told ESPN. New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard is returning on a reworked one-year deal, a source told ESPN. The team's longest-tenured player wanted to return. Veteran quarterback Brian Hoyer has reached agreement on a two-year contract to return to the New England Patriots, his agent confirmed. The deal ensures that Cousins will remain the Vikings' quarterback as the franchise begins a new era with general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and coach Kevin O'Connell.

NFL free agency tracker 2022: Live updates on news, rumors, signings and trades (unknown)

In the week leading up to free agency, NFL teams agreed to four trades involving big-name players. Russell Wilson, Carson Wentz, Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper ...

Now, the former Pro Bowler will move on to his third team in as many years while the Colts search for a replacement. The Patriots have a couple of good receivers in Kendrick Bourne and Jakobi Meyers, but they need to add a true No. 1-type receiver and depth to their wide-out room. He agreed to a one-year, $9 million deal with the team. Deshaun Watson's trade market is heating up after a grand jury elected not to indict the embattled Texans quarterback on nine criminal complaints of sexual harassment and misconduct. 2:09 p.m. — For the second straight day, a starting quarterback is traded. 7:03 p.m. — The Cowboys were deep in talks with Michael Gallup about a potential extension. He announced the decision on Twitter and confirmed that he would be returning to Tampa Bay. 11:44 p.m. — After Brady's return, the Buccaneers moved quickly to lock up their center. The Dolphins are expected to be interested in Jackson, per Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. 10:56 a.m. — Deshaun Watson has permission from the Texans to speak to other NFL teams. 7:58 a.m. — NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Packers WR Davante Adams will not play on the franchise tag. There isn't a Tom Brady-type prize this offseason — well, there wasn't until he came back, at least — but there are plenty of quality playmakers available at receiver, on defense and along the offensive line.

Latest league news from Monday, March 14 (unknown)

Brian Hoyer is sticking around in New England for another go-around, signing a two-year deal with the Patriots ahead of free agency.

The 36-year-old is essentially a player-coach at this stage of his 14-year NFL career. Hoyer backed up Jones last season, appearing in five games and attempting 11 passes. He last started a game in 2020 for New England -- a 26-10 loss at Kansas City.

2022 NFL free agency: Biggest takeaways from Monday's moves (NFL.com)

Will a crop of incoming free agents, including Christian Kirk, rejuvenate the Jaguars? Is Mitchell Trubisky in line for starting snaps with the Steelers?

Jackson's considerable pact ( five years, $82.5 million) with the Chargers is only a little better than the one Trumaine Johnson signed with the Jets in 2018. The Dallas front office isn't through, but I like what it has done, retaining tight end Dalton Schultz and signing DeMarcus Lawrence to a new contract that lowers his cap number. Jackson, Asante Samuel Jr. and Derwin James are playmakers that figure to get the ball back to Justin Herbert for a lot of extra possessions. 14) The Michael Gallup extension could go down as one of the most team-friendly in football over the next five years. Davis' contract is similar to the one Trae Waynes signed with the Bengals in 2020. The 33-year-old Cousins, on the other hand, was fortunate and savvy enough to never take a long-term contract offer from Washington early in his career. 10) No general manager will be busier this offseason than Packers head honcho Brian Gutekunst. Rapoport's report that Davante Adams is not happy with the franchise tag is not a surprise, and "Gutey" is doing his best to make room for a future extension. 2) The Jaguars were that team this year -- the team that snaps up high-risk propositions in the first few hours of the negotiating period and hopes for the best. But the 27-year-old Cooper is clearly a more dynamic player and worth the extra money. Trubisky makes more sense as a 1A choice if general manager Kevin Colbert also drafts a quarterback in the first three rounds to develop. Karras (who agreed to a three-year, $18 million deal) was available for far cheaper the last two offseasons. They've already lost starting guards Alex Cappa (headed to the Bengals) and Ali Marpet (to retirement), with more defections expected in the coming days.

Jaguars to sign Pro Bowl guard Brandon Scherff, WR Christian Kirk ... (NFL.com)

The Jaguars have agreed to terms with a collection of free agents in the first day of the negotiating window. Guard Brandon Scherff headlines the group, ...

Jones is a possession receiver who garnered a surprisingly large deal of three years for up to $30 million with $24 million guaranteed, Rapoport reported. Oluokun has been a rising defender in Atlanta in the last couple of seasons and is being paid accordingly, moving to Jacksonville on a three-year deal with an average annual salary of $15 million. The Jaguars have since replaced Urban Meyer with Super Bowl LII winner Doug Pederson, and general manager Trent Baalke has approached free agency with urgency, adding notable players on each side of the ball in the first 24 hours of the negotiating window while also retaining left tackle Cam Robinson with a second consecutive franchise tag placed on him last week. Jacksonville has agreed to terms with a collection of free agents in the first day of the negotiating window. Kirk's contract includes a $20 million signing bonus, $37 million fully guaranteed and $39 million over the first two years with $12 million available in incentives, per Pelissero. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Pelissero reported the deal is four years in length and worth $72 million with a max value of $84 million.

Ravens Round-Up From Day 1 of NFL Free Agency (BaltimoreRavens.com)

The Cincinnati Bengals upgraded their offensive line, the Steelers got their Ben Roethlisberger predecessor, the Browns released one of their top wide ...

One of the first reported agreements was right tackle Joe Noteboom staying with the Los Angeles Rams. Noteboom was viewed as a potential affordable option for the Ravens but ended up getting a reported three-year, $40 million deal with a max value of $47.5 million. He only started two games, but Hill logged 5.5 sacks in his first season with the Bengals last season. He also has some mobility to challenge defenses. In his one career start against the Ravens as a rookie, Trubisky was 8-of-16 for 113 yards with one touchdown, four sacks and two fumbles in an overtime win at M&T Bank Stadium. Trubisky was a backup in Buffalo last year after spending his first four years in Chicago. He didn't materialize into the top-flight quarterback the Bears envisioned, but Trubisky had a 29-21 record as a starter, 64 touchdowns to 38 interceptions and an 87.0 quarterback rating. The Bengals were one of the most aggressive teams out of the gate and their focus was clear: better protection for quarterback Joe Burrow. Cincinnati agreed to terms with hard-nosed veteran offensive guard Alex Cappa (four years, $40 million) and center/guard Ted Karras (three years, $18 million).

The Patriots already have a natural replacement for Karras on their roster. The— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) #Eagleshave agreed to terms with pass rusher Haason Reddick, source says. The deal is $2 million for one year. The Patriots could have kept Jackson via the franchise tag, a one-year, $17.2 million deal, but they elected not to use it. They desperately need to add a cornerback, either through free agency or the draft. Instead, Jackson will head out to the loaded AFC West and team up with safety Derwin James in the Chargers’ secondary. Montgomery entered the league in 2015 as a wide receiver but soon switched his position to running back. DeMarcus Lawrence and the Cowboys have reached an agreement on a three-year deal worth $30 million, fully guaranteed. Deshaun Watson has decided he wants to play for the Cleveland Browns in a stunning change of events, per sources.

Jaguars’ Christian Kirk signing changes NFL free agency WR market (unknown)

The Jaguars just made a lot of teams angry, and Christian Kirk just made a lot of better wide receivers richer during the start of NFL free agency.

It won’t be crazy now for him to ask to top Hopkins’ market-leading $27.5 million per year with the Cardinals. Kirk averaged 12.3 yards per catch with 17 total touchdowns in four years with the Cardinals, playing with either DeAndre Hopkins, Larry Fitzgerald or sometimes both to divert defensive attention. Even when reduced to its base value of $72 million, Kirk’s deal — including $39 million over the first two years, per NFL Network — is a game-changer.

NFL free agency winners & losers: Buccaneers, Chargers, Dolphins ... (Sporting News)

Although the "signings" can't be made until March 16, there already are many deals in place for teams to either keep key free agents or add some intriguing new ...

Trubisky could have gotten his second starting chance as a first-rounder in many places away from Buffalo, including the Giants or Commanders. But landing with the Steelers, competing with Mason Rudolph and/or a rookie was the best possible situation, inheriting an offense with good skill players and intent on improving the line. J.C. Jackson (Chargers) and Carlton Davis (Buccaneers) went off the market and there's a good chance Stephon Gilmore lands with the Jets to improve their winning position in free agency. Los Angeles needed to accelerate the spending and improving of the team while Justin Herbert is on his rookie deal, borrowing.a page from Cincinnati with Burrow. GM Tom Telesco had the means and didn't waste any time. Now the key is trying to make it work to keep both Miller and wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. The Bengals went to work on upgrading their interior offensive line, one that caused them so much trouble trying to keep Aaron Donald from getting to Joe Burrow Alex Cappa and Ted Karras are the ideal starting guards for what they want to do. The Dolphins were smart to be aggressive given their desperation, while Edmonds' departure prompted the Cardinals lockdown on Conner. It will be most interesting to see whether Leonard Fournette can return to the Buccaneers and whether Melvin Gordon (Broncos) can find another good committee home. The signing of defensive tackle D.J Jones was good, but it was a downgrade move from Shelby Harris, who went to the Seahawks. throwing big bucks at a combination of wide receivers Christian Kirk and Zay Jones, tight end Evan Engram, guard Brandon Scherff, defensive tackle Foley Fatukasi and linebacker Foyesade Oluokun. The last player on that list was by far the best deal. All of a sudden, the team's two biggest free agents, center Ryan Jensen and cornerback Carlton Davis, expected to sign elsewhere, stayed in Tampa Bay on big deals. The team lost guards Alex Cappa (Bengals) and Ali Marpet (retirement), but it also franchise-tagged wide receiver Chris Godwin and this should prompt tight end Rob Gronkowski to stick around for Brady, too. The Jaguars priced out every other team on Kirk, including his hometown Cardinals, by giving him a ridiculous four-year deal worth up to $84 million. There's plenty of time for new GM Ryan Poles to have a strong offseason, but there has been some stumbling into rebuilding mode.
