Did the 'rose ceremony from hell' and family meetings bring Clayton much-needed clarity, or will his choices ruin everything he's built so far?
She knows it’s a lot, they know it’s a lot, but she is in love with him, and that’s that. Clayton is holding on to the hope that he’s done enough to get them to stay, and somehow they both return to the rose ceremony. Is it worth risking Rachel and Gabby’s newly built trust for a second chance with Susie? At least Clayton is realizing the error of his ways, but this revelation might have come too little too late. They know that he and Rachel hit it off ever since Episode 1, and are curious what makes his feelings for Rachel different than his for Gabby. His mom listens with open ears as Rachel expresses her confusion over the rose ceremony’s events, but states that she owes it to their relationship to give it her all and try once more. Clayton’s parents and brothers are excited to catch up with him, but they don’t know the tornado of drama that’s about to hit them. Regardless of the heartbreak, the women deserved to know the truth, and he wants to continue his relationships with both if they will let him. He states that Susie was not able to continue on given the way he felt about the other two (not to mention the fact he was intimate with both in the Fantasy Suites). Since it was a dealbreaker with Susie, he wants to clear the air with them so that the same thing won’t happen (even though it totally will). “I am in love with both of you, and I also was intimate with both of you,” he tells them. As Rachel says, there’s a difference between falling in love and being in love, and the fact that Clayton feels that way about all three of them is hard to comprehend. Clayton’s reassurance feels a bit performative, and we wonder if it’s because he’s not over Susie. Rachel and Gabby deserve better than Clayton’s half-ass feelings, but he manages to convince her to stay and meet his family. Instead, Rachel and Gabby walk away heartbroken, leaving Clayton to listen to the echoes of their cries as they are comforted by staff and producers. Standing side-by-side, they each wonder where Susie is, correctly guessing that she went home (or did she, really?). Clayton arrives and the mood immediately switches to a much more serious one as he prepares to relay the previous night’s events. After he spent the night in the Fantasy Suites and said “I love you” to both Rachel and Gabby, the Bachelor was blindsided when Susie bid farewell to him in Iceland last week, leaving him questioning every choice he’s made so far.
'The Bachelor' Finale: Michelle Young, Nick Viall and Clare Crawley Question How Clayton Echard Handled 'Rose Ceremony From Hell'. By Sarah Hearon. March 14, ...
But I think it’s just this huge reminder that when you’re in a relationship — whether it’s family, whether it’s friends, an intimate relationship — you have to handle it with care,” she said. But I did not gaslight or manipulate her, and that is 1,000 percent a fact.” And it’s just, I think it would go a long way for him to have been more empathetic and just put himself in their shoes.” “I feel like that would be something that these women would want to hear, especially Gabby when he was trying to convince her not to trust her gut,” the former Bachelor said. “Being vulnerable is a really strong thing to do — to put yourself out there and give everything you have. After very emotional conversations with both women, Clayton convinced both Rachel and Gabby to stay — but not everyone was impressed with how he made that happen.
Recap: Clayton had a big ol' mess to clean up on 'The Bachelor' this week — did either of the two women stick with him after what he did?
(Damn right!) He sits down with Rachel, too, and tries to explain that he has a “different” love for her than he has for Gabby and Susie, but that doesn’t stop the waterworks. (“You’ve screwed the pooch, in my opinion,” his dad chuckles.) Gabby is first to meet them, and she weirdly seems all better from last night’s debacle. They’re even more surprised when Clayton tells them everything: He was in love with Susie, and he’s in love with both of them, too — and “I also was intimate with both of you.” Ouchhhhhh. He still sees himself with one of them at the end of this… Gabby is crying, too, and says she doesn’t want to be with Clayton at the end if it has to be like this. Now he decides he’s going to be “a thousand percent transparent” with Gabby and Rachel at the rose ceremony. He confides in Jesse — but still says he was “blindsided” by what Susie said and insists she wanted him to fully explore his other relationships.

After a lot of tears and frank talk, Echard persuaded both women not to join Evans in leaving the show. Whether that means conjuring the happily-ever-after fantasy fans are used to will have to wait for Tuesday night. When Echard told them he felt he had something special with Evans, he said, “She didn’t think so... “You screwed the pooch, in my opinion,” he said. The announcement tremendously upset both women — Echard had told both during their overnight dates that he was falling in love with them. She returned and accepted his rose.
On Monday's episode of The Bachelor, Clayton Echard told finalists Gabby and Rachel what happened with Susie — and gave them the option to leave, too.
"And it's not to discredit what I have with Rachel or what I have with Gabby." I think you're too caught up in the one that got away." "I just really feel like he is perfect for me," Rachel raved. "I think he allowed space for me to feel like what I'm feeling and did like acknowledge what we do have is special and unique," she said in an on-camera interview. "I was upset last night, but I'm here for a reason," she said. "Understand that I'm fighting because I care," he told her. "I feel like I'm being measured." "What I'm about to say is not going to be easy to hear, but it's going to be transparent and I owe it to you all," Clayton said. "All I know is that I'm speaking from my heart." This is the hard part to say but like, I was in love with her, and I was in love with each of you two — I am in love with both of you. It didn't mean I didn't mean it, I just meant I had a stronger love with somebody else." I really don't. Because I promise if I knew the answer to that, I wouldn't string somebody else along."
The episode began as Clayton led the Jesse Palmer-coined "rose ceremony from Hell," in which he told Rachel and Gabby, his two remaining women, that he was in ...
"I’m uncomfortable, I’m hurt, and I chose to stay despite it," Gabby said in a confessional. "They don’t want to be second or third, they want to be first... "... It’s just so hard to understand that the love that I feel, you can feel for three people." At the rose ceremony, Clayton apologized once more, telling the women, "You can choose not to accept the rose if you do not feel that you are able to... In a confessional, an emotional Gabby said, "For him to say 'The woman I walk out with is the woman I love the most,' wrong f**king answer... "That’s great if I’m at the end, but if I’m not, I’m just supposed to stop?" I am in love with both of you, and I also was intimate with both of you." Once I make that decision, all the other love, it was real, but it ends there." I don’t want to end up at the end if it’s gonna be like that," Gabby said. but they deserve to know," Clayton told Jesse. "I don’t feel good right now, but I can’t go into a relationship with secrets... I really don’t. I promise you if I knew the answer to that, I wouldn’t string someone else along." I want to believe that love’s here, but I just don’t know."
The camera then flashes to Clayton crying as he looks down at an engagement ring, and Jesse promises the audience that they're in for "the most shocking ending ...
Clayton Echard's season of The Bachelor will conclude Tuesday, March 15, with a two-hour finale. "I hope people have grace and understand that... There's going to be a lot of opinions. "I think it's going to foster a lot of discussion. If you’re up for it, you should go and see Clayton." Susie may not be done with Clayton after all.
"The Bachelor" Season 26 finale kicked off with a major cliffhanger involving Clayton Echard and finalists Rachel Recchia and Gabby Windey.
I was the one that decided that I was done.” “I have so many deep, deep feelings for you, and really do love you.” “I just want to level with you,” Gabby says. “She made that choice to walk.” “I’m so glad I listened,” she tells him. “You screwed the pooch in my opinion,” Clayton’s father tells his son. Back at the podium with two roses, Clayton tells the women, “I want to apologize for putting you both through this tonight. “Two people he’s in love with just left, and I’m just the only one, and that’s not fair to anyone. “I can’t go into a relationship with secrets,” he says, explaining that he wants to continue dating both Rachel and Gabby, so he can continue to take his time to figure it out. And I also was intimate with both of you.” “I am in love with both of you. And I feel terrible that I was so upset and angry,” Clayton said, sitting in church.
"The Bachelor" host Jesse Palmer discusses Clayton Echard's finale, which will have the most "unforgettable" rose ceremony of all time.
This is what I want to get into with him on Monday and Tuesday — I want to understand his thought process. It’s hard for me to say and it’s really for him to answer. The journey — I think — is going to come to an end on Tuesday. But it’s just so strange to be days away from it, but seriously have no understanding on how this is going to end. I imagine he said these things in the moment, not realizing the effect they would have, and also not having a plan of how he was going to try to salvage everything. This is the first season in a couple of years that “The Bachelor” gets to travel after shooting in a bubble during the pandemic, and they pick Iceland — which looks incredible! The rose ceremony coming up is going to be the most emotional and probably the most unforgettable rose ceremony ever on the show.” So many things have happened that have never happened in 20 years of “The Bachelor.” Even the ending in Iceland is in line with that, but the great unknown as we move through Monday and Tuesday and hopefully get some answers is something we’ve never seen before on “After the Final Rose.” I’m only comparing this to my experience on the show and my life. “It’s really amazing to be at this point in the journey and have so much left unfinished.” We’re all going to figure this out on Monday or Tuesday. This is not at all where I thought we’d be when I signed up for this. The host teases, “To say that it’s going to be intense and dramatic and emotional, those are gross understatements. For those who haven’t been watching, all hell broke loose on last week’s fantasy suite episode when Echard was left with his final three: Susie Evans, Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia. Echard told all three women he was in love with them, and then admitted that he had sex with two of them.
