The Richmond Spiders are going dancing in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011 following their win over the Davidson Wildcats.

Davidson dribbled down the clock and missed a 3-pointer and Burton missed a baseline jumper at the other end but his airball went off a Davidson player.

The Richmond Spiders (22-12) are led by six graduate seniors who have all shown no signs of slowing down in this tournament. The player that can not go unnoticed is senior forward Luka Brajkovic. He is averaging 14.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, and shooting 58.7 percent. The No.1 seeded Wildcats are led by junior Hyunjung Lee who is averaging 16.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and shooting 48.5 percent. The players do a great job of complimenting each other on the court. A big reason for Davidson’s success is the depth.

If the Aggies were to make the field, it would be their first appearance under head coach Buzz Williams. They’ll be another one of the teams sweating it out now with the Richmond bid-steal. An 11-5 Davidson run tied the game at 39, and the Wildcats stretched their lead to seven midway through the second half on a three-pointer by Sam Mennenga to make the score 49-42. Davidson again responded, taking a five-point lead on a pair of Loyer free throws with 1:17 to go. After advancing the ball into the frontcourt with a baseball pass, Davidson called a timeout with less than two seconds on the clock. Davidson missed a potential go-ahead three-pointer with five seconds left and fouled Gilyard with two seconds left on the clock. Burton missed a potential game-tying jump shot on the ensuing possession, but the ball deflected off Davidson and out of bounds.
