It's a sound that could send the Tigers home early when NCAA Tournament play begins next week, tantalizing as LSU's athleticism and March Madness potential ...

Despite losing, the Tigers grabbed 22 offensive rebounds in their last matchup against the Razorbacks. And according to KenPom, LSU's defense has been a top-five unit this season. Those numbers don't bode well for a run in the NCAA Tournament. All of last season's Final Four teams — Gonzaga, Baylor, UCLA and Houston — were no worse than 11th in KenPom's offensive rankings. The performance was an ugly reminder of how limited LSU's offense can be. It was LSU's third loss this season to the Hogs. When you extend your defense, the guards just drive right by you. Tari Eason — LSU's leading scorer and only consistent threat — needed garbage time buckets to get to 15 points and only took 10 shots all game.

LSU vs Arkansas: Standouts from disappointing loss to Arkansas in ... (LSU Wire)

The third time was not the charm for LSU against the Razorbacks on Friday as its run in the SEC Tournament in Tampa came to an end.

Tari Eason again led the team in scoring with 15 points. Days also picked up his fourth foul with over ten minutes to go in the game. Wade’s squad couldn’t pick up any steam to really challenge the Arkansas lead. Mwani Wilkinson led LSU in scoring in the first half with five points. Individually, nobody stood out for the Tigers in the first half outside of Days bringing down some rebounds. Friday’s game didn’t resemble the down-to-the-wire games the first two were.

Will Wade comments on NOA, how Tigers aren't letting any distractions seep into team tournament hopes.

I think Arkansas is towards the top end of the hardest-playing teams in our league." I think they're one of the hardest-playing teams in our league," Wade said. "I'm hoping to look forward to a win so that's what we're gearing up for." The last time these two teams squared off was a little more than a week ago in a game that felt like an NCAA tournament matchup with great back and forth and ultimately Arkansas pulling out a tight home win. This is a program that has embraced that "us against the world" mentality for a number of years and it was no different Thursday as the No. 5 seeded Tigers jumped on Missouri early and were able scrape out an opening SEC tournament win. When asked whether he'd seen the NOA, Wade restated he wasn't allowed to comment on the investigation.

“I thought he was physical and played well around the rim.” “Toney killed us at Arkansas,” Wade said. Have a comment on this story? “And what I’m looking for [today] is a win. When we missed that layup, that’s about as loud as I’ve heard an arena at Bud Walton. The Razorbacks went 3-0 against the Tigers in the 2000-01 season. They’ve got a very, very, very, very good team. It was an unbelievable atmosphere. “I would like to have made a layup at the end,” Wade said. Holt has been awarded Arkansas Sportswriter of the Year four times. “Obviously, Notae and Williams have made huge plays in both games,” Wade said. “I think Arkansas is towards the top end of the hardest-playing teams in our league, if not the hardest-playing team,” Wade said.

LSU does not have one of those offenses, especially when it comes to attacking in the half-court. It finished second in defensive rebounds and third in total rebounds. By generating extra possessions and avoiding Arkansas's vaunted half-court defense, LSU would play to its own strengths without running into its opponents' strong suit and their own weaknesses. But LSU's performance that night wasn't a fluke. As its leading scorer by more than seven points, Notae is clearly Arkansas' lead bucket-getter and most explosive threat off the dribble. That's how good the redshirt senior has been.

LSU vs. Arkansas Prediction and College Basketball Betting Picks ... (Project Spurs)

A preview of the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal game between the Iowa Hawkeyes and Rutgers Scarlett Knights on March 11, 2022.

LSU averages 14.5 turnovers and forces almost 18 a game from their opponents. Meanwhile, Arkansas averages 12.5 turnovers and force 15 from its opponents. Arkansas will undoubtedly try to win this game at the free throw line as they attempt the third-most freebies in the country per game. The Tigers also allow opponents to shoot 38.4% from the floor and teams shoot under 28% from long distance against them. LSU vs. They’ve now got some momentum headed into the quarterfinal against Arkansas who did not play on Thursday.

2022 SEC Tournament picks, best bets from proven model (unknown)

SportsLine's model revealed its college basketball picks for Arkansas vs. LSU in the SEC Tournament 2022 quarterfinals.

Arkansas? And which side of the spread hits well over 60 percent of the time? It also says one side of the spread hits well over 60 percent of the time. The Razorbacks are clearly elite on the defensive end of the floor. Arkansas ranks above the national average in defensive rebound rate, steal rate and block rate, and Eric Musselman's team is also very good on offense. The Tigers generate a turnover on 25.5 percent of defensive possessions, No. 3 in the country, and LSU blocks 14.9 percent of shot attempts, a top-10 national mark. Arkansas is below-average in free-throw prevention, and LSU could generate increased efficiency at the charity stripe.

Toney was a big reason the Razorbacks beat LSU on the road last week, dropping 18 points in 39 minutes in a 77-76 Arkansas victory. LSU has already lost to the Razorbacks twice this season, and with how inconsistent they've been lately, I can't trust them in this spot. Both of these teams can lock down on defense but they also play at a fast tempo and have shown the ability to play higher-scoring games against quality opponents. LSU picks, you could win $26.45 on a $10 bet? LSU is fresh off a 76-68 win against Missouri in the second round of the conference tournament last night. They ended their regular season with a 78-74 loss on the road to Tennessee where they really missed wing Au'diese Toney when they came out flat in the first half. Given their recent play, I don't think they can hold the Razorbacks below that number. Defensive pressure has been key to the Tigers' success this season, but when they allow opponents to score 70 or more points, their offense is usually unable to keep up. We're leaning towards the Over. This line hit the board shortly after LSU dispatched Missouri on Thursday night. USA: College Basketball Parlay Bet & Get with Caesars! LSU has a month or so to open the envelop and respond to it. So LSU’s only comment about the new news is, in effect: No comment. It turns out LSU can’t comment. If not totally forgotten, this news admittedly had gone a little stale. At least it would be news if there was anything new about it. The real “news” for the Tigers, as is so often the case, is happening off the court.

Arkansas basketball vs. LSU at SEC Tournament (unknown)

TAMPA, Fla. — Arkansas basketball coach Eric Musselman said before a second regular-season matchup with LSU that it's hard to beat a team twice.

Arkansas will need to get back to its usual strong defensive rebounding in the tournament matchup. The Tigers are tied for first in steals per game with 11.2. Guard Eric Gaines accounts for 2.1 steals per game, third-best in the league. Part of what made the last matchup so close was LSU's dominance on the offensive glass. LSU   ranks fifth in NCAA in adjusted defensive efficiency according to KenPom's ratings. In the Tigers' last game against Arkansas, they forced 13 turnovers, including nine steals. TAMPA, Fla. — Arkansas basketball coach Eric Musselman said before a  second regular-season matchup with LSU that it's hard to beat a team twice.

Prediction, point spread, odds, best bet (unknown)

Our prediction and best bet for Friday's LSU vs. Arkansas game, with odds from @Tipico Sportsbook.

The Tigers are the No. 5 seed and enter this game after dispatching 12-seeded Mizzou in the second round by a 76-68 score. Arkansas, meanwhile, is the No. 4 seed and earned a double-bye this week, so this will be its first contest in Tampa. The Razorbacks took the previous two matchups between these teams during the regular season. The SEC Tournament is in full swing, and coach Will Wade’s LSU squad is looking to advance to the semifinals after a win over Missouri in the opener on Thursday. First, though, the Tigers will have to get past the Arkansas Razorbacks.

SEC Tournament Odds: LSU vs. Arkansas prediction, odds, pick ... (ClutchPoints)

LSU faces Arkansas. Our college basketball odds series includes our LSU Arkansas p prediction, odds, and pick.

The game being at a neutral site helps LSU and hurts Arkansas. Take the Tigers. The obvious complication attached to an LSU Arkansas pick, measured against the SEC Tournament odds, is that Arkansas is playing this game on a neutral floor in Tampa, not in the cozy confines of Fayetteville, where this team is supremely hard to beat. The Hogs are brilliant at making late-game rallies and winning close games, two staples of the Eric Musselman era. Interestingly enough, Arkansas’ rebound came in a road win at LSU, on a day when the Hogs shut down the Tigers over the final nine minutes of regulation. Their injuries have healed, and this team looked a lot like its old and best self on Thursday in the second round of the postseason. This is something to absorb when thinking about an LSU Arkansas prediction.
