Reviewing Iowa State's postseason bench shirts (widerightnattylite.com)

Truthfully, this is a very good bench shirt by Nike featuring a very large school logo and the “campaign” for the shirts that year fits nicely under the logo.

I like that it’s colorful in a similar way to the “Iowa State mentality” shirts, and I like that it’s vertical. Overall: 5.5/10 Overall: 7.7/10 Overall: 12/10 Overall: 7.9/10 This shirt made an appearance in the Sweet 16.

Peterson: Forget Thursday. The bottom line is Iowa State basketball ... (desmoinesregister.com)

Kansas City, Mo. –— Someone messaged me during Iowa State's 71-42 loss against Texas Tech on Thursday night. The cell phone dinged during the second half of ...

They’re in by virtue of the great start to Otzelberger's Iowa State coaching regime. Iowa State columnist Randy Peterson embarked on his 50th year of writing sports for the Des Moines Register in December 2021. They woke up Friday to a nine-seed on ESPN's bracketology, facing North Carolina in San Diego, where Arizona is the No. 1. The Cyclones entered Friday at No. 47 on the NCAA's NET ratings, a fall of eight positions. Iowa State still is in the NCAA Tournament, despite three losses in a row. The team possibly dropped a seed line after Thursday's lopsided loss. There's absolutely no concern for the over State of the Program. Concern about the sloppy play at times Thursday night? So do Otzelberger and the staff. Maybe. Concern going into the NCAA Tournament after three losses in a row? “There is a sense of pride in what we're building, what we have done, and how these guys have embraced habits. “I think everything that they have done is restore pride to Iowa State," Otzelberger said. It's solidly in the Big Dance for the first time since 2019, and that, folks, is one huge deal.

Don't lose sight of this: Iowa State is back in the NCAA Tournament ... (desmoinesregister.com)

A year after going 2-22 overall, 0-18 during the Big 12 season, and 0-19 in games against Big 12 competition, the Cyclones are returning to the ultimate.

"We have to come more with more physicality — come out from the jump ball, and be the more physical team and crash the offensive rebounds, and take care of the ball. “We play the teams that are the most physical. Iowa State columnist Randy Peterson embarked on his 50th year of writing sports for the Des Moines Register in December 2021. We play in the league that's the most physical, so my guess would be whoever we play outside the league — it may not be that same level of defensive intensity that we see night in and night out. "We have to leave the game behind us, focus on postseason and the next game," Jaz Kunc said. It didn’t result in victory, but turning a 29-4 deficit into a 61-60 lead showed that Otzelberger’s team can play with the nation’s biggies. “We had a great season, and we’re in the tournament,” said George Conditt, one of just a few holdovers from last season. “A remarkable coaching job would be an understatement, it really would.” A lot of them are really good role players. “I think it says a lot about the character of kids T.J. recruited. “T.J. has done an amazing job during his first year as our head coach,” Pollard told The Register last week. They did it with a reasonably tough non-conference schedule, which is why they’ve got all those Quad-1 wins.

The No. 14 Red Raiders played one of their best first halves of the season en route to downing Iowa State on Thursday inside T-Mobile Center.

"We have a lot of veterans on our team and we know during the postseason that it's not all about who scores. "We just watched Oklahoma beat Baylor and I feel like that fueled us more," Shannon said. "So we knew any team could win today. "I thought we played one of the best 40 minutes we played all year," Texas Tech coach Mark Adams said. Like previous contests, the Red Raiders took a bit of time to warm up when it came to making shots. It was for naught but continued the positive vibes going into the final 20 minutes. We just want to win and we have a lot of selfless people that just want to play basketball and want to leave Texas Tech better than they found it." ... I just thought it was, by far, our best game of the year. Texas Tech's Davion Warren started things off by coming up with a steal before finding a sprinting Arms for a fastbreak dunk. "I'm pretty hard on them and the glass is usually half-empty with me, but tonight was a great game for these guys for 40 minutes," Adams said. ... We probably couldn't have played better than we did tonight." "Which you want in the playoffs.

Big 12 Tournament Odds: Iowa State vs. Texas Tech prediction ... (ClutchPoints)

Iowa State faces Texas Tech. Our college basketball odds series includes our Iowa State Texas Tech prediction, odds, and pick.

The Cyclones have been a good, consistent team in the Big 12 Tournament over a larger period of time when they have good teams. Iowa State won only two games last season and went 0-18 in the Big 12. Beating Texas Tech and Texas gave ISU enough meat on the bone of its resume to accompany its big nonconference win over Iowa and a win over Creighton as well. Big 12 Tournament odds evaluators and college basketball odds experts know that Iowa State is a flawed team, but a team which is entirely worthy of being in the NCAA Tournament. There will be no bubble drama surrounding this team on Selection Sunday. This is part of the backdrop to an Iowa State Texas Tech prediction. This is why Iowa State is safe for the NCAA Tournament despite having been 3-9 in the Big 12 at one point in the conference season. The Iowa State Cyclones got roughed up by the Big 12, but they won their share of battles in the conference.

Analyzing Thursday's Iowa State vs. Texas Tech odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

Texas Tech also has a strong defense, but the Raiders add to that a solid offensive game, especially in and around the paint. Perimeter shooting doesn’t figure to pile up triples in this contest, but some two-way turnover-transition ball can be expected and Texas Tech has the potential to go big in second-chance and free-throw points. Currently ranked No. 14 in the nation, the Raiders have held opposing teams to a 38.9% mark from the floor in going 8-3 since Jan. 29. Iowa State sports a below-average Big 12 offense, but the Cyclones are strong at the defensive end. Texas Tech odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets. That combination has made for some streaky play, at least in terms of the resulting wins and losses in a 7-11 Big 12 campaign.

Iowa State women's basketball may get one more shot at Texas ... (desmoinesregister.com)

The Iowa State women's basketball team could face Texas in the semifinals and Baylor in the finals of the Big 12 Tournament.

Iowa State racked up a school-record 25 wins and went 14-4 in Big 12 play. Texas has to deal with Kansas State, a team that nearly knocked off Iowa State. The semifinal opponent would be either Kansas State or Texas. Waiting on the other side of the bracket is Baylor, heavily favored to make it the title game. The Cyclones swept TCU and West Virginia during the regular season. That could give them an advantage as ISU fans would have the opportunity to flock to a Sweet 16 game. The Iowa State women arrived in Kansas City having already locked up a spot in the NCAA Tournament, almost certainly hosting the first two rounds.

Iowa State vs. Texas Tech Odds, Picks, Predictions: Big 12 ... (The Action Network)

The Cyclones and Red Raiders are two of the slowest-paced teams in the league and are two squads that rely heavily on defense. D.J. James breaks down the game ...

Building off of that sentiment, Texas Tech excels in the paint. Texas Tech produces over 20% of its total points at the strike. TTU turns opponents over at the 11th-highest rate in the nation, so there should not be much of an edge here for either team. Iowa State went 7-11 in regular-season Big 12 play for a reason: it cannot produce anything on offense. Texas Tech, on the other hand, averages 34% and 26.2%, respectively. These two teams thrive defensively, but the Red Raiders tout a bit more efficiency on offense. TTU coach Adams on McCullar: "I think he's as healthy as he's been in a while. … TJ, is I won't say 100%, but he's better than he's been a while. Davion Warren and McCullar also get fouled at a decent rate. Iowa State beat the Red Raiders in early January in a slugfest, but Texas Tech got revenge at home later in the month. Texas Tech will duel with a fellow slow-paced Big 12 team in the Iowa State Cyclones on Thursday (9:30 p.m. ET on ESPN). - The Cyclones and Red Raiders are two of the slowest-paced teams in the league and are two squads that rely heavily on defense.

Iowa State vs. West Virginia Women's Basketball Preview, Prediction (Heartland College Sports)

Winner: faces the winner of Game 6 in the semifinals at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Projected starting lineups. Iowa State: G Emily Ryan, G/F Ashley Joens, ...

Iowa State: The Cyclones enter the Big 12 Tournament as the No. 2 seed. With Joens leading the way, the Cyclones have beaten seven Big 12 teams twice, with the exceptions being Baylor and Texas. But the Cyclones are more than just Joens. Guard Emily Ryan was part of the HCS Second Team and while improving her scoring ability, at various points she set ISU records for most steals and assists in a game. She was a Big 12 Second-Team selection for the second year in a row. But the rise of freshman JJ Quinerly helped the Mountaineers win three of their final four games, and a win in Kansas City could help them snag a berth in the WNIT. Watch Madisen Smith, who had 19 points against TCU on Thursday night. But, West Virginia’s expectations were higher after coming off an NCAA Tournament berth last season, powered by No. 3 overall WNBA Draft pick Kysre Gondrezick. West Virginia spent the season on the periphery of being a .500 team all season, and the loss of Deans to injury midway through Big 12 play didn’t help matters. This game has the potential to be close. It depends on how much offense the Mountaineers can muster early. If they let the Cyclones run away and hide, they’ll never catch them. West Virginia F Esmery Martinez: The junior was the only Mountaineer to earn All-Big 12 Second Team honors earlier this week. With the injury to KK Deans, more of the offense fell to Martinez. Martinez averaged 11.1 points and 8.8 rebounds per game this season, and saw those averages change to 10.5 points and 9.1 rebounds in 17 Big 12 games. She’s once again a finalist for the Cheryl Miller Award, which she won last year. Season series (Iowa State 2-0): Iowa State def.
