Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen discuss their 17-year journey back to 'Star Wars', and what to expect when the dynamic duo reunites on 'Obi-Wan Kenobi.
"It was definitely conceived as a limited series, and it is one big story with a beginning, middle, and end," says Chow. "The approach has always been that it is one full story." "It was so important to have Hayden be a part of this project because he is such a massive part of that character," says Harold. "It was a priority to all of us that we did it with as much care as possible, so as to honor one of the greatest villains and antagonists in the history of entertainment." "Part of what made the series feel very special is that we were bringing back not only Ewan and Hayden, but people like Joel and Bonnie from 20 years ago and gettingt o reunite as the same characters." The Jedi order are being all but wiped out, and those Jedi that have survived are on the run and they're in hiding." But while everyone on set was marveling in his direction, the man behind the mask was moved by what he saw through his tinted helmet lenses: "The first time that I saw Ewan as Obi-Wan again, that was a very special moment for me, and one that I'll remember for a very, very long time." (And with a badass outfit: "Putting on a cape was a dream I didn't know I had. As the years moved on from the prequels, though, McGregor noticed a sense of balance coming to the Force. And the balance was coming from younglings… "And it's tricky when you're starting with a character in the state that Obi-Wan would be in coming off of Revenge of the Sith. That's a pretty bleak period of time. "Now I meet the people who we made those films for, who were the kids of the time," says McGregor. "And our Star Wars films are their Star Wars films. Critics and fans alike pounced on everything from the comic relief of Jar Jar Binks to clunky dialogue like "No need to report that to him until we have something to report." "I came round the set, and it was just this ring of people standing around." The warmth of your greeting left such a lasting impression and meant a lot."
Hayden Christensen is returning to "Star Wars" 17 years after "Revenge of the Sith."
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy added to Empire, “The thing that was most exciting was being on the set and watching [McGregor and Christensen] get excited. With over 7 million views and counting on YouTube alone, the first trailer for “ Obi-Wan Kenobi” has gone as viral as expected, considering it marks Ewan McGregor’s return to the “ Star Wars” universe nearly 17 years after “Revenge of the Sith.” But McGregor isn’t the only prequel trilogy actor returning for the Disney Plus series. “His shadow is cast across so much of what we do,” series writer Joby Harold said.
This prequel trilogy would introduce McGregor's Obi-Wan Kenobi and Christensen's Anakin Skywalker and set the stage for what would eventually come (and what had ...
In a new interview with EW, Christensen and McGregor reflect on the backlash the prequels received and how it felt to be making movies that so many fans didn't seem to like. The criticism largely continued upon the release of the two subsequent installments, Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, although the latter is widely seen as the best of the three. Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor reflect on how difficult it was to experience the backlash to the three Star Wars prequels.

A ton of updates for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series have been rolling in, and the newest one is that of Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader.
The first image of Hayden Christensen returning as the Dark Lord of the Sith was just revealed. For how long and in what capacity has yet to be revealed, but this new update means sound as if we are in for a real treat. We will all find these answers soon enough, but for right now, let’s all bask in the glory of all these amazing images. The Obi-Wan series takes place between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) had just turned to the dark side of the force and slain Padme without knowing that he had. One other secret that was asked of the man by EW, was if Anakin would be shown unmasked. Hayden Christensen also promises a “very powerful Darth Vader.” While we are not sure what that is going to entail, it sounds as if the Rogue One ending massacre will have to be topped.
Entertainment Weekly has debuted a new image from Obi-Wan Kenobi, revealing Hayden Christensen's return as Darth Vader.
Led by the Grand Inquisitor (Rupert Friend), the teaser trailer shows the Inquisitors on the hunt for Obi-Wan Kenobi. One such inquisitor is Reva (Moses Ingram), who goes to both Tatooine and the brand-new planet of Daiyu in search of Kenobi. Actually, calling them "vague" might be overselling it a bit.
That secrecy extends to what its actors can say about the series and the characters they play, which means this is everything Christensen is allowed to say about the Dark Lord of the Sith in the interview: “We’re going to see a very powerful Vader.” When asked whether Christensen might be making an appearance on the show sans helmet, the actor could only reply, “I wish I could tell you. At least we got confirmation that Rupert Friend will be playing the Grand Inquisitor, alongside yesterday’s confirmations of his fellow Inquisitorial allies: Moses Ingram as the Third Sister, Fast & Furious’ Sung Kang as the Fifth Brother, and Indira Varma an Imperial officer, thanks to the trailer that came out yesterday. It’s impossible to know, because Lucasfilm (like its sister studio Marvel) is so withholding of information about its content that the company got mad when an employee mentioned the release date of the show five days earlier than planned.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy explains why Hayden Christensen wasn't asked back as Vader for 'Rogue One'.
What’s more, fans are also anticipating some flashbacks to the good old days when Anakin and Obi-Wan fought side by side. For Obi-Wan Kenobi, however, Vader’s presence will be much more substantial. The character predates me, and it’s always been a collective effort in a lot of ways.
