Report: Nets' Ben Simmons expected to file grievance against Sixers (Sixers Wire)

There is a great deal of anticipation before Thursday's huge matchup between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets. The matchup brings star power on ...

Its problem was he did not keep the team in the loop when it came to seeing a specialist outside of the ones the team offered to him. And the debate over Simmons’ obligation to the franchise is what will ultimately take center stage, even if Simmons’ side of the argument appears to be fighting an uphill battle in their quest to recoup his lost money. For Philadelphia fans, this will be their first time seeing Simmons in the building since Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

“He’s able to get these really easy steals and jump out and make reads that really weren’t in the scouting report or weren’t what we were going to do but are very effective. “Credit to the training staff and the team for just all being on the same page. Thybulle appreciates Harden’s knack for anticipating what the offense is trying to do, which allows him to be disruptive and force turnovers. Matisse Thybulle, the Sixers’ perimeter defensive stalwart, acknowledged that “everyone knew” Harden’s less-than-stellar reputation as a defender. But The Athletic reported Monday that Simmons plans to travel with his team for Thursday’s game. The former first-overall draft pick was a three-time All-Star and last season’s runner-up for the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year award.

James Harden Puts in Extra Work Following Sixers' Win Over Bulls (Sports Illustrated)

When the Philadelphia 76ers took on the Miami Heat this past Saturday night, they missed their ten-time All-Star guard James Harden.

For a seasoned veteran like Harden, he doesn’t have much left to prove in the NBA. As a current All-Star and a former MVP, Harden has accomplished more than most in the league. I put the work in, and I live with the results. I just ran the stairs up in the arena. Despite checking in for nearly 40 minutes on Monday night — Harden felt he needed to put some extra work in. And instead of playing in the 2022 NBA All-Star game, Harden continued to rest. However, the Sixers issued the star guard a planned night of rest anyway.

Ben Simmons' grievance expected to be filed soon, with Sixers-Nets ... (PhillyVoice.com)

It wouldn't have fit the last eight months of drama if the first meeting between Simmons and his former team was actually about the basketball game being played on the floor on Thursday night. Simmons would not see the supplied team doctors to address the issue, and though reports have suggested that he has seen someone through the NBPA, the Sixers never received documentation that provided them with either an explanation for his absence or a treatment plan to put him in a position to be available at some point this season. That has seemed true throughout this process, including when Simmons' representation approached the players association in early October about their ability to recoup money from this standoff, though it will ultimately be up to an independent arbitrator if and when this process moves forward. Those ranged from alleged anger over being included in talks for James Harden, frustration over Embiid and Doc Rivers' comments following Game 7, a back issue, and a mental health explanation that ultimately led to a team meeting, with Simmons telling his teammates in late October he was, "not mentally ready to play." And the debate over Simmons' obligation to the franchise is what will ultimately take center stage, even if Simmons' side of the argument appears to be fighting an uphill battle in their quest to recoup his lost money. And anyone with a rudimentary understanding of finances also probably could have seen this coming — nobody likes to throw away $20 million even if they have than that in the bank or coming to them down the road.

Sixers star Joel Embiid in awe of what Nuggets star Nikola Jokic is ... (Sixers Wire)

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has been impressed with what Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic has done on the floor recently.

“Whether it’s Giannis (Antetokounmpo), me, Jokic, KD’s (Kevin Durant) not a big, but he’s 7-feet, and it’s also foreign guys.” I saw what he was able to do last night (Sunday), I was watching the game actually, I’m always watching every game, but he’s a monster. What he’s able to do on the basketball floor is crazy.”

Doc Rivers Believes Sixers Should Pay Tribute to Ben Simmons on ... (Sports Illustrated)

Following a tough loss against the Miami Heat this past weekend, the Philadelphia 76ers started with a fresh slate and opened up the week with a game ...

If the star guard didn’t go out on a bad note, having a tribute for Simmons would be a no-brainer. But Ben did a lot of good things here. Ben did a lot of good things here. Since Simmons spent five years in Philadelphia, many are curious as to whether the Sixers will pay tribute to Simmons or not. After selecting Simmons first-overall in 2016, the Sixers utilized the former LSU standout as their starting point guard for four seasons. Thursday’s game had a lot of hype surrounding it, considering the circumstances.

Steve Nash says Nets' Ben Simmons is ready for Sixers fans (NBC Sports)

But to most Sixers fans, it feels like Simmons came up small in the playoffs and then quit on the organization when he took the brunt of the blame. I at least respect him for showing up, and I can't wait to see how the actual game goes. And the first time Sixers fans have the opportunity to get loud with Simmons at the free throw line in the second half, with a Wendy's Frosty at stake, you can guarantee they'll go nuts.

That has seemed true throughout this process, including when Simmons’ representation approached the players association in early October about their ability to recoup money from this standoff, though it will ultimately be up to an independent arbitrator if and when this process moves forward.” The Sixers never disputed the claims, but were concerned that they were not made aware of a specific diagnosis or any form of treatment that would allow Simmons to return to action. And the debate over Simmons’ obligation to the franchise is what will ultimately take center stage, even if Simmons’ side of the argument appears to be fighting an uphill battle in their quest to recoup his lost money.”

NBA Power Rankings: Sixers keep on keeping on (PhillyVoice.com)

The Sixers have been playing on another level since James Harden arrived, and after Monday night's win over Chicago, they don't seem to be showing any signs ...

Philadelphia is 4-0 with Harden in the lineup, but beginning with Saturday's loss in Miami (which Harden sat out on the second night of a back-to-back) things will get tougher in the games ahead. Obviously, a lot of this has changed dramatically with the addition of James Harden. They’re a completely different team, and they’ll have a completely different approach. In their first three games with James Harden, the Sixers are outscoring opponents by over 20 points per 100 possessions with a ridiculous offensive rating of 125.3. That being said, their games have come against the Timberwolves and the Knicks, not exactly the cream of the NBA crop. Harden and Joel Embiid have each scored at least 25 points in all three of the games so far, while Tyrese Maxey is taking advantage of preoccupied defenses to the tune of 24.7 points per game on 64 percent 3-point shooting. They're staying up there with the NBA's best and are largely considered one of the Eastern Conference's top three. The team's only loss during that stretch (Saturday in Miami) came when Harden didn't play.

Joel Embiid, James Harden unfazed by Sixers' upcoming matchup ... (ClutchPoints)

The Philadelphia 76ers have arguably their most anticipated game coming up on Thursday when they face the Brooklyn Nets.

They have no intentions of harping over what happened in the past and remain zeroed in on preparing for what they hope to be a deep postseason run. After conducting themselves in a professional manner during the entirety of the Simmons saga, it’s doubtful the Sixers are distracted mentally for this matchup. That being said, there appears to be no love lost from Embiid. Similar to Harden, the MVP candidate is not buying into any added hype for the meeting with the Nets. Given their track record, it’s fair to assume that Sixers fans will not be giving the three-time All-Star a warm welcome. Honestly, every game is a big game for us. Following an impressive win over the Chicago Bulls last Monday, the Philadelphia 76ers have arguably their most anticipated matchup of the season coming up on Thursday. They will be hosting Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets in a nationally televised matchup.
