2022 AEW Revolution results, recap, grades: Adam Page outlasts ... (CBSSports.com)

Page edged out Cole to cap off a wild, bloody card from Orlando on Sunday.

Fish and O'Reilly served up another distraction when the match went back to the ring, allowing Cole to hit Page with a low blow, followed by another Panama Sunrise and the running knee to the back of the head. Cole hit a series of superkicks only for Page to nearly hit the Buckshot again. Guevara hit Isiah Kassidy a Spanish fly from the crowd onto two tables on the entrance ramp in one of the craziest moments of the match. Dark Order eventually ran to ringside to aid Cole in chasing off reDragon. Page then hit the Buckshot Lariat on Cole but Cole got a hand on the ropes to break the count. MJF then introduced a bag of thumbtacks to the match and both men teased going into the tacks before MJF hit a superplex, sending both into the tacks. Penta hit Black with Fear Factor on the ring apron and rolled him into the ring for the pin only to realize Matthews was the legal man, allowing Matthews to hit a curb stomp for a near fall and setting up the final stretch of the match. When Rosa managed to hit a tombstone piledriver, Rebel jumped on the ring apron to distract the referee from making the count. Redbeard was ready to go two-on-one against Matthews and Black and was about to chokeslam Black, only to be hit with black mist to the face.

Biggest Takeaways from AEW Revolution 2022 Results (Bleacher Report)

All Elite Wrestling only has a few pay-per-views per year, but Revolution 2022 showed that what it lacks in quantity, it makes up for in quality.

They may soon be the largest faction in AEW after The Elite and The AHFO break up. This appears to be the start of not just a tag team but also a potential faction, with one of wrestling's greatest minds at the helm. Now, some of the biggest cracks have formed that make it a certainty they are doomed to split sooner rather than later. - Three matches may be too much for the buy-in. The dog collar match wouldn't have been the same without it, nor would Moxley vs. Along with an audience that couldn't quite get hyped, this bout was plagued by not being able to match the level of violence of what came before it both in the Punk vs. Baker doesn't look stronger and Rosa is stuck as a could-be champion hoping for another shot down the road. The AHFO didn't have a great night, either. Over the past few years, he's built up some value in that moniker and should capitalize on it as much as he can. Assuming he can retain the TNT Championship over Scorpio Sky, Sammy Guevara is going to have his work cut out for him. There will be plenty opportunities for Swerve to have great matches with numerous wrestlers. This proves MJF wrong, as he had said Wardlow wasn't going to win.

AEW Revolution 2022: Results, Full Recap, News and Analysis (CNET)

Hangman Page is still the AEW Champion, and CM Punk wins an incredible Dog Collar match.

That said, it was a lot of fun -- and not as silly as some of the Bucks' other PPV matches. Despite the fact that he's veering into heel terrotory, much of the Orlando audience was still very pro-Jericho. After Jericho landed a Lionsault, the crowd was split between chanting "Let's go Eddie" and "Jer-i-cho". There was a huge pop when Jericho locked in the Walls of Jericho, and an even bigger pop when Eddie managed to grab the ropes. That led to a breakdown in relations, turning the match into more of a tornado affair. MJF tried a tombstone on the apron, but Punk countered into a tombstone of his own. Wardlow leapt atop a ladder which was wedged atop the ropes and in between the standing ladder, where he planted Starks with a powerbomb and won the contest. Wardlow then smiled at Punk, found the ring in his pocket and left it on the apron, which allowed Punk to put it on. There was a great spot where Punk tried to suplex MJF into the tacks, but couldn't because his knee failed. Baker went for the Lockjaw, but Rosa countered it into a Lockjaw of her own. Rosa took out Rebel and, while the ref was tending to Rebel on the apron, Baker brought the championship belt in and Curbstomped Rosa onto it. The first impressive spot was Page lifting Cole up in a Fireman's Carry position and Cole somehow countering it into a Backstabber. Later on the outside, Page powerbombed Cole onto the ring apron and then followed up with a huge moonsault. The action made for a better highlight reel than for a match, and it bordered on ridiculous at times in terms of how devastating moves looked compared with how little they were sold. It was a series of explosive, exciting moves until the very end, when Page hit his big move for a second time to win.

AEW Surpasses Expectations With a Wonderfully Varied 'Revolution' (Sports Illustrated)

Compare AEW's "Revolution" pay-per-view to WWE's house show at Madison Square Garden the day before and you get a good idea of the differences between the ...

But with few exceptions AEW is successfully serving its audience, as evidenced by the announcement that the next PPV, Double or Nothing in May, has already broken its gate record by surpassing $1 million (something WCW was never able to do in their history), and the positive feedback to Revolution. WWE had, for the first time in forever, promoted the event hard on television, largely because it hadn’t drawn well recently in the Garden and wanted to make sure, more for image reasons than anything else, that it drew a big crowd. But the company was mentioned frequently on the show, and Punk’s ring entrance harkened back to his days working ROH as a member of the Second City Saints, complete with his old-school music and ring attire (which, conveniently, including enormous oversize white shorts, perfect for contrasting buckets of blood). Wardlow, who won the Face of the Revolution ladder match to win a shot at the TNT title, finally turned babyface when he “couldn’t find” MJF’s Dynamite diamond ring, resulting in a distracted MJF eating Punk’s GTS finisher. It was a long show, 12 matches and almost five full hours if you count the “Buy In” preshow. This time, it was the announcement that Tony Khan had purchased Ring of Honor from Sinclair Broadcast Group. Khan talked about the purchase after the show, and while he acknowledged that he planned to run ROH as a separate organization as head booker, many questions remain regarding touring, talent, his own personal workload and more.
