"Law & Order: SVU" star Ned Eisenberg has died at 65 following a "private" two-year cancer battle.

“As Ned would say, he was attacked by two very rare assassins — cholangiocarcinoma [ bile duct cancer] and ocular melanoma. Eisenberg’s other notable theater stints include the 2014 musical “Rocky” and the 2017 revival of “Six Degrees of Separation.” Eisenberg’s television work includes roles in “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “The Blacklist,” “Elementary,” “Bull,” “Madam Secretary,” “White Collar,” “Blue Bloods,” “The Sopranos,” “30 Rock,” “The Good Wife” and more.

Eisenberg remained a familiar face on television through the course of his career with guest roles in TV series like Dear John, Reasonable Doubt, L.A. Law, Ed, The Sopranos, NYPD Blue, Rescue Me, The Big C and Blue Bloods. But it was his ongoing appearances as Roger Kressler on aforementioned Law & Order: SVU and a role in Oscar-winning film Million Dollar Baby in 2004 that were among his greatest career achievements. Ned Eisenberg, a character actor known for his appearances on television series like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Mare of Easttown, Law & Order: SVU and The Blacklist, died at his New York home on Sunday. He was 65.

On stage, Eisenberg first appeared on Broadway in 2000’s The Green Bird, returning in 2006’s revival of Awake and Sing!. Subsequent Broadway performances include Golden Boy, Rocky and the 2017 revival of Six Degrees of Separation. Born in the Bronx, Eisenberg began his film and TV career in the early 1980s, most notably in four episodes of Miami Vice and, in 1990, a starring role in the short-lived comedy The Fanelli Boys, alongside co-stars Christopher Meloniand and Joe Pantoliano.

He began his professional theater career in Neil Simon’s “Brighton Beach Memoirs” and appeared on Broadway as Truffaldino in Julie Taymor’s “The Green Bird” (2000) and as Uncle Morty in Bartlett Sher’s “Awake and Sing!” (2006), according to Nicolosi. From 1999 to 2019, he appeared in two dozen episodes of the show — mostly as Kressler, but twice early on in other roles, according to IMDb. He also appeared in other series in the “Law & Order” franchise, playing different roles.
