Michael Keaton tried to fight back tears while dedicating his SAG Award for "Dopesick" to his nephew who died from drug addiction.
“It happens to be real good.” Keaton’s acceptance speech started on a humorous note, as he was slow getting to the stage, noting he had to go to the restroom. But it quickly turned serious, as he expressed gratitude for “how fortunate” he is to be able to be part of shows or movies, like “Dopesick,” that “can spawn thought, conversation, actual change.”
A new Batgirl shot from Michael Keaton seems tailor-made to entice fans who want nothing more than a glimpse at his Batman suit once again.
The return of Keaton in what many consider his most iconic role is sure to be a gigantic occasion among moviegoers. Keaton himself has spoken about how he still doesn't really understand a lot of where DC and the character of Batman have gone in recent years, but that hasn't stopped him from appreciating his fans and his time as the hero. On a less serious note, as cool as the shadow looks, one has to realize that anybody walking by would have seen a scary-looking man in a Batman outfit taking a picture of the ground with his phone. Even when walking away from his Batman role due to creative differences, that was all about the new movies not following through on the version of Bruce Wayne he'd cultivated with director Tim Burton over the previous films. First, he was confirmed to appear in DC's upcoming The Flash movie, then he was confirmed again for DC's upcoming The Flash movie. Taking to his Instagram, Keaton posted a striking image of his own shadow, sporting the instantly-recognizable silhouette of his Batman outfit.
The Flash movie may retcon the history of Michael Keaton's Batman without replacing Ben Affleck, creating a way for new stories in Burton's Gotham.
However, this might be what the movie's news is letting on right now, and the reality could be something more appealing to all fans. This is still all just pure conjecture, and Keaton could indeed be replacing Affleck. Nevertheless, DC and Warner Bros. should consider a path in which they'll excite the various Batman fanbases as opposed to further divide them. This would also put the upcoming Batgirl in that same continuity, though this could present its own problems. Still, there are a few key issues with this being the case. Secondly, in trying to connect the history of these unrelated continuities, it would be undoing most of the DCEU movies heretofore. The upcoming DC Extended Universe movie The Flash has been long-awaited by fans, and it's finally coming out in late 2022.
