Kentucky vs. Arkansas score, takeaways: JD Notae's 30 points leads No. 18 Razorbacks over No. 6 Wildcats (CBSSports.com)

18 Arkansas made it 13 wins in its last 14 games on Saturday by knocking off No. 6 Kentucky 75-73 at Bud Walton Arena in a thrilling SEC showdown on CBS that featured 17 lead changes. The Razorbacks (23-6, 12-4 SEC) got 30 points from JD Notae and big ...

With 4.4 seconds still remaining on the clock and Arkansas leading by five, Kentucky's bench players left for the locker room. Even in defeat, though, it was hard to argue against Tshiebwe being the most dominant player on the floor. When they lost at Auburn on Jan. 22, it was after Washington left midway through the first half. When the Wildcats lost at LSU on Jan. 4, it was after Wheeler was knocked out just four minutes in. The outcome will leave Auburn in solo possession of first place in the SEC standings regardless of whether it beats Tennessee on Saturday. Kentucky's Keion Brooks Jr. missed a 3-point attempt that would have tied the game with 23 seconds left, and the Razorbacks held on from there.

Arkansas is 17-5 when ranked and hosting a ranked team. * Oscar Tshiebwe had a double-double at halftime with 14 points (half of his team’s 28) and 12 rebounds. * Kentucky scored first but the Hogs reeled off seven straight to force a Wildcat timeout. Williams, who scored 10 straight for the Hogs inside the final 4:38, finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds with two assists and two steals. However, the Wildcats made a run and trailed by just six points (34-28) at the break. Davis once again went 1-of-2 at the line for a 5-point cushion.

Three takeaways from Kentucky basketball's dramatic loss at Arkansas (unknown)

Kentucky basketball was back at full strength Saturday in Arkansas, but this time the Wildcats were unable to complete a comeback from a double-digit first half-deficit. For the fourth consecutive game, Kentucky trailed by double digits in the first ...

Kentucky's loss to Arkansas and Tennessee's win over Auburn left Kentucky, Arkansas and Tennessee in a three-way tie for second place in the Southeastern Conference race. "it’s a lop-sided schedule compared to the other teams," Calipari said. So, we’re going to keep trying to get better, whatever the schedule is." When his Kentucky teammates could not buy a basket in the first half, Tshiebwe kept the game within reach with 14 points and 12 rebounds before intermission. "Just getting into a rhythm and feeling like it was back to normal." Rust was a clear factor for both guards, who combined to hit 8 of 25 shots and 3 of 8 3-point attempts, but they did combine for eight assists with three turnovers. "It was the game, that play," Kentucky coach John Calipari said. We had two rusties in there, and we had a couple other guys that didn’t play very well. The Wildcats scored 13 of the first 19 points of the second half to take their first lead since 2-0. The stuff that he’s doing and the way he’s shooting the ball, even passing the ball better. For the fourth consecutive game, Kentucky trailed by double digits in the first half, falling behind by 13 early. The Wildcats were able to gradually chip away at the lead, taking a six-point deficit into halftime.

Every Top-5 Team Falls in Wild Saturday Slate (unknown)

With March Madness just around the corner, college basketball teams are jostling for NCAA tournament seeding.

Meanwhile, it’s a huge win for the Vols, who move to 12–4 in the SEC and into a tie for second, with Kentucky and Arkansas. Tennessee trailed 39–28 early in the second half before taking control late thanks to a stifling defensive performance. The Musketeers should still find themselves in the field assuming they don’t lose at home to lowly Georgetown next week, but at one point this team was in the conversation for a top-four seed. This year’s Xavier team has more breathing room to go dancing than last year’s club, but what was once such a promising season has seemingly fallen by the wayside. Meanwhile, Virginia Tech has a path, albeit a narrow one, to an at-large after this Q1 win. And yet again, Zach Edey was sidelined in critical moments due to foul trouble despite being dominant on the block when on the floor. Still, today was yet another reminder of the Boilermakers’ flaws, which will make them hard to trust in March. Purdue’s defense has made a habit of letting opposing ballhandlers put up career games, and the oft-maligned Spartan PG duo of AJ Hoggard and Tyson Walker added to that tally today with impressive performances. The pair combined for 19 points and 10 assists compared to just four turnovers in the game. And while Kentucky’s offense got going in the second half thanks to 30 points from Oscar Tshiebwe, the Arkansas defense once again stepped up and slowed down an offense ranked in the top five nationally per KenPom. There’s no question that Purdue’s talent level and offensive firepower give the Boilermakers a chance to beat pretty much anyone in college basketball. For the third time this month, Arkansas hosted an elite opponent and found a way to win. The Bulldogs’ frontcourt duo of Chet Holmgren and Drew Timme combined for just 12 points on 5-of-17 shooting, one of the most impressive defensive performances of the season by any team.
