Marvel lets loose with a trippy hellscape of a trailer for the Multiverse of Madness.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness got a new trailer during the Super Bowl on Sunday, giving us more hints about the 28th Marvel Cinematic Universe movie ahead of its May 6 release. The previous trailer also showed former Strange ally Karl Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), the twisted Strange Supreme, who appeared in last year's in What If... ?, and Strange's former girlfriend Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams). There's also a glimpse of someone battling Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), aka the Scarlet Witch. it looks like Captain Marvel, but could also be Monica Rambeau -- daughter of Captain Marvel's late bestie Maria Rambeau -- wielding the powers she got in WandaVision.
Former Doctor Strange 2 director, Scott Derrickson, reacts to the new trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that debuted on Sunday.
Despite departing over the direction that Marvel hoped the film would take, Derrickson is also seemingly on pleasant terms with Marvel Studios, as he stated in January that he would be open to returning to the MCU for the third Doctor Strange movie. While Derrickson may no longer have any involvement in Strange's further adventures currently, it is pleasant to see him still supportive of Raimi's handling of the character. In his tweet, Derrickson reminisced about his past experience working with Raimi, calling him one of the nicest individuals that he'd encountered in the film industry. The director stated that he felt the trailer was great, before affirming that he was excited. The trailer is great and of course I’m excited! Derrickson was replaced by Spider-Man and Evil Dead director, Sam Raimi, later in the year.
The official trailer for the upcoming Marvel movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was unveiled during the 2022 Super Bowl and there's probably some moments you missed. In the highly anticipated sequel, the MCU unlocks the Multiverse and ...
The new Doctor Strange poster contains many secrets including monsters, X-Men, What If... ? Easter eggs and much, much more!
That would fit in to the Multiverse of Madness as Chthon is the creator of the Darkhold. We know that magical book will play a large part in this movie and the MCU going forward. This is definitely the blurriest of our catches and therefore hits at the bottom of our list. Also the placement of this Loki shard next to what we think is a very thematically resonant one would back this up… In it is what looks to be a screaming head with a visor on, a visor that I am here to argue looks a lot like Cyclops. We know Charles is back so this really isn’t that wild, especially if Charles is from a universe that has already been destroyed or had casualties from multiversal shenanigans. On the left hand side of poster near the lower corner there’s an image that will immediately seem familiar to fans of Captain Marvel. It looks like a new version of the Mar-Vell, Captain Marvel, or in the MCU Nova Corps logo. In the comics Stryfe is a clone of Nathan Summers A.K.A. Cable. In some of his forms he wears a mask that looks a lot like the one we see here, even if slightly more exaggerated. In the shard we see a reflection of Deadpool. It looks like a promo shot similar to the one where he has his finger over his mouth in a shush position. Captain Carter’s shield played a huge part in What If…? and we had a feeling we might see it and her in the Multiverse of Madness. This seems to hint that theory was right. Strange and Captain Carter are already connected thanks to the events of that series, so this would make a lot of sense. Yep, along with the trailer that seemed to reveal Patrick Stewart would be joining the MCU as Charles Xavier, it looks like we’ve got our first official look at Deadpool. This is a pretty clear image, and you can see it on the left hand center top of the poster. That aspect makes a lot of sense as we’ve seen Strange in his mirror universe, as well as mirrors as a representation of the multiverse before. The epic one sheet shows Strange in the midst of a shattering mirror.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has many secret societies, but this is one to rule them all.
And why would the Illuminati need to apprehend Doctor Strange? Hopefully all these questions will be answered in a few months. Monica Rambeau and Captain Carter are both recent additions to the MCU, and Mordo has already appeared in the first Doctor Strange film. But don’t expect the entire Illuminati lineup to appear in the Doctor Strange sequel.
Who is the mysterious villain at the dark heart of Marvel's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?
Theoretically, Marvel hasn’t done too much to hide who the movie’s ultimate villain might be, as a collection of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Legends figures have been available to pre-order for quite a while now, and they feature the powerful demon D’Spayre among them. Another interesting aspect of D’Spayre is that he has been known to pose as people you trust, letting him get even closer to you as you fall apart and thus providing him with a delicious three course meal of terror and despair. Marvel Zombies! Wanda back in Westview! Strange Supreme! Defender Strange! Professor X! The Illuminati! Captain Carter! Rintrah! Gargantos! America Chavez! The Savage Land?! But one thing the trailer didn’t show us was who might be the puppet master of this terrifying multiversal breakdown of reality, despite Mordo pointing his finger straight at Strange.
